If there were more stars I’d add more because they deserve more than a 5 str review. I had ALIF surgery back in 2010 due to a back injury I had on 1996. Dr. Ty was my doctor/surgeon. He was highly recommended by my chiropractor when my chiropractor felt like I needed more than spinal manipulation. I got the best care imaginable. Dr. Ty was very wonderful about explaining the procedure & other options if surgery was not something I wanted. He even gave me the option to get a 2nd opinion if I wasn’t sure about getting the procedure he recommended to help with my severe herniated discs which I did. After having a few consultations with other doctors, I decided to go back to Dr. Ty. His concern for my health was more important then whether or not I was going to be another chart in his filing cabinet like the other doctors made me out to be. Long story short for this procedure, Dr. Ty & his staff were amazing. They kept tabs on me before, during, & after the surgery. I was not forgotten . In late October early November of 2014 I fell to the point where I broke one of my screws on my back from the back surgery I had in 2010. Of course it was only right to see Dr. Ty. He remembered me from years ago. Not many doctors do. I explained what happened & showed the Xray & immediately he put me under his care. His staff is so amazing & professional. Tammy worked very hard with the insurance to get the pre authorization because the broken screw was causing me so much pain. Mariela & rest of the office staff made me feel like I was important & not just another patient of Dr. Ty’s. I can’t say enough about them because all were amazing. Like my first procedure, Dr. Ty and his staff were with me every step of the way. I had my 2nd surgery in February. My follow ups after my surgery were Dr. Ty & Mike Blasko. My recovery is due to not only my family but also the staff at Brain & Spine. I recommend this office to all how are having back problems, herniated discs, spinal stenosis, etc & want to feel like a you are being treated as a person & not a chart on the filing cabinet. My experience & explanation about the staff & Dr’s at Brain & Spine give no justice to how great they really are.

Keep in mind it seems like this place is very much just focused on the spine and the associated disorders. However if you have peripheral nerve issues this is not the place to go to. I have seen only the pain management docs, the first who left soon after my 1st appointment and procedure. I have found better docs elsewhere. They do offer stem cell treatments although the quality of the stem cell source is dubious in efficacy; more questionable than the usual quality of stem cells offer if you just go ahead and do the autologous procedure. They do not however either offer PRP or Prolotherapy which are the precursors to stem cell therapy treatments typically. I think its odd they offer some questionable stem cell treatment when they don’t offer prolo or prp, which is at least approved for a few conditions.

I have been going to BASIC in Newport for my back pain, since it opened. With all my thoughts set on spine surgery, Dr. Ty introduced me to the decompression table which has made an enormous relief on my back pain. This process has been such a blessing, that I believe that anyone with back pain should visit BASIC and see what Dr. Ty’s knowledge and expertise has in store for you!

The best in Orange County and Southern California if you ask me. Drs Oh and«Ty» have both treated me and have been instrumental in helping me deal with longtime back pain I have suffered with for over 20 years. Despite the fact that both are surgeons, they did not push that option on me, and in fact were very persistent in their efforts to ensure I pursued non-invasive options to treat my condition. I highly recommend!
