I always stop for a drink when in the area,(except when i have my daughter) lol! Great dive bar, decent prices, Amazing view. I love bars with Jubeboxes & pool tables, if you’re looking for a chill spot to have a drink, stop by the beach ball.

The bouncer on 5⁄22(5⁄23 after midnight) is a rude person. He is sexist. Would not shake my hand because I sounded«sick» … Even though that’s my natural raspy voice and then when I went to order a drink, literally threw me out because I called him rude. I will always talk very bad about this place now. I will never recommend going here. His words exactly to me were«you called me rude, you’re not welcome here. Go Unilocal about it» guess what buddy, I did and I hope the owner realizes what a very rude person you are to a paying customer. I will go back during the day tomorrow just to speak to the manager. You should be a little nicer to customers who’s money pays your bills. Negative stars if I could.

Fun dive bar. Excellent and fun bartenders. Stiff drinks. Just wish they offered food :(

Hands down the best! If you want the right atmosphere and vibe this is the place. Plus, if you get a chance to have Peter be your bartender you have already won!

This place has been on out go to bar crawl locations in Newport for years! It’s a bit on the divey side but it’s cool, serves decent drinks, and has pool tables. Plus, it wasn’t nearly as packed as other bars along the strip.

The epitome of Newport Beach Peninsula dive bars. Beach Ball is über casual and filled with the older newport townies crowd. My friends and I in college loved coming here on a weekday night for a couple beers and to play pool. The tables are usually less crowded than the neighboring bars like Stag and the crowd has much less douchey-newport-bros. The beers on draft are okay but I wish they had more craft and local beers. Oh well.

Fraud — long story short a seldom used credit card was used at this place, and a few days later there was fraud activity being charged to it. This was the only place this card had been used in the last month. It was the typical scam where a random $ 1 charge was made but luckily my bank caught it before they started the big charges. Beware on using cards at this place!!!

Worst bar in Newport with the most unfriendly staff. The blonde bartender(a little older) should not be allowed to talk to customers the way she does(swearing at them, etc.). They don’t care about pleasing their customers and don’t care about honoring deals or promos that are stated in their bar.

I was here this past weekend for the Newport Beach Pub Crawl and ended up at Beach Ball(hey, that rhymes). There was a short 5 minute wait to get into the place. The bouncer checking IDs at the door was a really friendly guy. The bar was packed on the night I went so I didn’t end up getting to drink at all, however, I still managed to have fun and that is saying something. It took my fellow crawlers about 5 minutes to get their beers– not bad. I hear they are quite affordable too. We descended further back into the bar where the bathroom and the pool tables are(3 to be exact). This was a perfect place to chill and not feel claustrophobic. It was also a great vantage point to people watch and strike up conversations with strangers. Would I come back? Definitely, but next time with a drink in my hand! — Clarification: There were two recent 1 star reviewers that were unhappy about the false advertising on the PBRs… they were listed as $ 5 when in reality they should be $ 6. I found out that the organizers of the crawl made an error in listing the price but unfortunately, the bar got the brunt of the blame for this causing some tension that night.

horrible customer service. we came for the Santa pub crawl 2015 and they did not honor their deals. it was supposed to be $ 5 for a 24 oz pbr, they did not honor it after we took the sign out front that they had that clearly stated they were doing said deal and showed it to them. one of the bartenders even said«go fucking complain to someone else» it was the worse customer service I’ve experience. on top of that the bar was dirty and employees were unfriendly.

One of our stops this past Friday was the Beach Ball. There was virtually no line to get in. The booze was priced right and they have billiard tables. Beach Ball is just a damn good place to chill with some friends and even make some new ones.

A favorite of mine and my husband. We come here every time we go to Newport Beach. Even when this place is pretty busy we get drinks fairly quick. It’s nothing fancy but just a really cool place to hangout and get some drinks. They have pool tables in a separate area which is fun. This place is very convenient since you’re inside in air conditioning and very close to the beach.

The Beach Ball is a lovable little dump on the Balboa Peninsula. In these dog days of summer you need a spot with an ice cold brew and no pretensions keeping you from day drinking. Orange County, I give you Beach Ball. Located in the heart of the drinking war zone, this is a must stop on any peninsula bar crawl as long as you do not need to use the bathrooms(especially the ladies). The drinks are dirt cheap thanks to the low overhead and although I never touch any surfaces I don’t have to, it works for one or two rounds and offers a great view of the coastline. People watching is also superb thanks to the heavy volume of pedestrians, cyclists and local oddities. I am not a huge proponent for the whole dive bar genre but once in awhile I feel the urge and Beach Ball fits the need perfectly.

Cute little dive bar right on the beach front. Came in here in the afternoon to cool off and have a drink or two. The bartender was super fast and friendly and gave great recommendations on where to eat nearby. The drink I ordered was really strong but not so strong it tasted bad. The buzz I got was definitely worth the $ 8. I love that you can pick the music played in here! They have a screen you can use to choose the music queue.

Great dive bar. Came here on a recommendation from our Über driver. We were in town for a concert and staying in Newport Beach. We heard about the ‘War Zone’ of the bars and restaurants near the beach and pier, but it was pretty low key during the day. The place had cheap drinks, a good crowd, and some good beers on tap. Next door you can go to Blackies which is even Divier. Would come back with friends for sure.

Love this place! We come early for some drinks then head over to the Crab Cooker for an awesome meal after. Service at the Beach Ball is always on point and friendly. Location is ideal!

Came here after Sharkeez one Sunday in July. I ‘ll be honest, I don’t like dark rooms on Sunny gorgeous days but I was overruled so we arrived here. I hoped for a patio but NOPE, sat at the bar overlooking the pool tables instead. If you’re beach front, please at least have the option to open the windows??? Maybe I’m just partial to the sun… or this place is just better at night? They open at 6am which is pretty cool — $ 8.50 for a pint of coors light and a red bull. Not bad. 3 pool tables and 6ft of ocean view windows at the front. Not the biggest bar… and I’m no real fan of dive bars… but I like a game of pool so if you’re looking to have something to do on your crawl down the peninsula, this is your place.
