Café Bistro

Love this place so much. I come here with coworkers, and it’s always good. The shrimp salad and crab bisque are two of my faves. I got the braised short rib special, and it was to die for; wish it was a staple on the menu. And their shoestring fries are amazing. Service is always good, and tables are clean. Food comes out promptly, and at the right temp. My only complaint is that I got charged a split fee for sharing a salad, without being told I was going to be charged $ 5. Lesson learned. You get a chocolate stick with your bill. It’s the cherry on top of a great meal.

This place was ok, my bistro club was not the best, why there are green beans in it I don’t know? Didn’t add much to the flavor so it didn’t bother me just the texture gave it extra crunch. The fries I really enjoyed. Oh the bacon in my club was cold, not fresh and super hard.
My coworker order the prosciutto arugula pizza and it was alright not great at all.
Expensive for the quality of food you get.

This review is long overdue. In my experience of coming here several times, the food is pretty mediocre, and the staff out front (when you enter) have been really unpleasant on nearly every single visit.

I am in love with their French Onion soup! I have not tried a better one anywhere else. Their truffle fries are delicious!

This restaurant café is super modern and great! The place always smells so good and my server Drew was very sweet and helpful with the questions I had. I’m plain and simple I got a side chicken breast with the lemon zest asparagus it’s nice to see the cooks make the fresh brick oven pizzas since there’s an oven right in the restaurant!

I’m always surprised by the quality here. Much better than any other Nordstrom café for some reason. They had a chicken sandwich special today that was hands down the best chicken sandwich I’ve ever had. And try the fries! Amazing

Usually Nordstrom’s café’s are really good, they serve excellent fresh food. Unfortunately not at this place. I ordered a pasta dish, with red sauce and chicken, tested yakiiii and bad, was made with can tomato’s, with full of water in the plate. They took forever to bring my soup, very very slow/​late service. We are so disappointed of this location only.
Too bad, I really like Nordstrom’s café’s.

BEST French Dip sandwich I found so far. Better than Side Door or any steakhouse in the area. Love their steak salad too. Have never been disappointed by anything on the menu and just like Nordstrom the service is awesome!

Ok, usually the food and service is good, however today I walked out before the main course as the service was atrocious!!! We ordered before others and got our food never the manager even came over to ask how things are going and we ask him about our food he went to see and never came back. Won’t be back to this bistro! 30 minutes of my life I will never get back

I love the olive aioli, it’s the only reason I come! it’s located in the Nordstroms at fashion island so it’s a nice place to go between shopping for a break. it’s tucked in the corner of nordstroms on the first floor. It’s nice and quaint. The fries with olive aioli are a must try. The fries are nice and crispy and the aioli compliments it perfectly. the sandwiches are also worth a try.

My friend from Bellevue, WA, whose husband works for Nordstrom corporate, was in town so we stopped by Nordstrom Café Bistro for lunch yesterday, 2÷2÷2015.
With nobody in line to sit down the staff wouldn’t even acknowledge us or make any gesture that we would expect to be seated. It was all very odd because no one was waiting to seat at the lunch hour and the two hostesses were just mulling around purposefully ignoring us. We tried to wave them for attention to seat and they just looked away and went to wipe the front counter. After an uncomfortable 5 more minutes of this we decided to just leave.
My friend who loves and respects Nordstrom’s and feels she’s part of the Nordstrom’s family due to her husband’s employment was very upset over the situation. She approached the hostess directly and said I am very disappointed in your actions. The hostess just shrugged and said whatever and turned away.
This is the oddest thing I’ve ever witnessed at a Nordstrom’s in the over 25 years I’ve been a faithful card carrying patron. For a company known for their customer service the management of this Newport Beach Nordstrom Café needs to take a closer look at their hostess staff on duty on 2÷2÷2015 and watch out for similar disgraceful performances.
Perhaps people have a bad day from time to time but the attitude of these particular hostesses was appauling an unacceptable for Nordstrom’s patron expectations. I expect if management keeps an eye on this they will note it was not just one off rudeness but an attitude that will likely spill over into and ongoing performance of insulting prospective customers.

Completely Dissatisfied with the food they made. every food item we ordered were way too salty… I know they might have tried their very best but I Will not consider to return for sure!
even the tomato sauce made from scratch is too salty… I gotta drink tons of water to fill up my thirst… Very disappointed :(

My wife and I ate lunch at Nordstrom’s Bistro, Fashion Island about 7 hours after our usual oatmeal breakfast. We ordered Crab Bisque. On the way home about a half hour later, we were hurling what distinctively tasted like «bad crab bisque» and continued to do so for hours after getting home.
I called; spoke with the Mgr. who dryly said, sorry you’re sick and hung up.
The least he could have done was send us a refund. Nobody, especially myself wants to pay for food that made us hurl.

When I think of Nordstrom’s, I don’t think of fine casual café dining, but this Nordstrom’s in Fashion Island, Newport Beach, has set a new and high bar for fine casual café dining, anywhere.
For usual sandwich affairs in a café, they’ve raised the bar with fresh ingredients and wonderfully executed French fries. The first time my mom and dad and I were there, we had ordered a Club Bistro and Croque Madame — both were well executed, with fresh ingredients. The Club Bistro had green beans and avocado which were a wonderful twist.
My mom and dad and I came back again this time and along with the Club Bistro, we had the pizza, which was remarkably good given that I was very used to pizza when I was in Italia, and a Caesar Salad, whose dressing tasted good too. The chicken breast for the Caesar Salad was very moist and flavorful and I myself find it hard to cook chicken breast that flavorful myself.
And the French fries! They were wonderfully crispy, freshly fried (always a good thing), and they come with this aioli sauce that is a delight to taste.
The servers there are awesome. The first time I was there with my mom and dad, there was a tall, handsome, dark haired man serving us; he had an accent; I think the accent was French, or Western European; I’m not sure. This time Denise served us and she kept on bringing me refills on coffee, which earned her more tips from me. Then there was Carli who worked the front as a hostess today. She’s very pretty! Nordstrom’s café is surprising yummy. I had a Club Bistro sandwich togo from here during lunch. The sandwich came with fries on the side (which were DELICIOUS) and the whole thing costed $ 11.95. Definitely on the pricier side for a sandwich/​lunch. I might just try getting a half sandwich next time since it was pretty filling.
Also, I advise you to call ahead when getting togo because I ended up waiting ~20 minutes for my order. Good thing I wasn’t in a rush! Maybe one day when my lunch is comped by work, I will try this place again and dine in. I saw lots of yummy entrees and desserts on the menu that I wanna try :).

Not all Nordstrom Café Bistros are the same. Some are «cafeteria» style, some our get-​seated-​and-​order style. I liked this location in particular much more than than the one at South Coast Plaza. It’s sit-​down style, which I prefer. It feels less chaotic. The menus tend to be different at each location too and I liked the choices they had available here. Their croque madame and fries were excellent. As is the case with most Café Bistros, service was friendly and attentive.

I absolutely love coming here on my lunch breaks while at work. The service is amazing! One of the managers is always there if you have any questions on the menu while in line, and to tell the specials for the day. She is so nice and sweet, I always look forward to seeing her.
The servers are always very attentive and polite. The food always comes out fairly quick and is made with love. The Crab Bisque soup is to die for. Sometimes there is more crab in it than other times, but always delicious. I usually end up getting one of their half sandwiches. The Chicken and Goat Cheese, or The Club sandwich are amongst my favorites.
$ 12 for a delicious sit down lunch isn’t too bad. Plus I get points when paying with my Nordstrom Debit card!
