I love Cannery. I have sent countless people their way. I have rented several yearly rentals and have lived in one of their properties for over 10 years combined over the past 15 years. They are, without a doubt, the easiest company to rent with. They have handled every problem we’ve ever come across in the most professional and wonderful way. We’ve had plumbing, heating and other issues over the years and 9 times out of 10, they have someone at the house to make repairs within and hour, even on weekends and evenings. I so appreciate the way they have handled these issues. Such a drastic difference from owner-managers and the Irvine Company! I would recommend them to anyone looking to be a good tenant who wants a professional management company to help them finding a rental in the Newport Beach or eastside Costa Mesa area.

Rented a beach house in Newport Beach through this company. We heard from other college students of their unsavory business practices, but found one of their properties alluring enough to offset the risk. At the end of the year, the company claimed the property smelled of cat urine and refused to return our security deposit. None of us, our guests, or our neighbors owned a cat, or any other pet. What poor college student would actually want to waste the time and money to fight this in a small claims court? Brilliantly evil.

I lived in one of their managed properties for three years. The rent for my two bedroom near the beach was very reasonable at $ 1800. Overall, I was satisfied. I got what I paid for because there was no updating, even after kitchen knobs started falling off or mold grew bc the bathrooms had no ventilation. However, I dreaded calling Cannery because Sally, who runs the business, can be extremely abrasive and aggressive. In fact, before we moved out a nice new couple moved in downstairs. She told me Sally had made her cry after she’d asked about the unit not coming with a fridge.

We rented a beach house in Newport Beach through this agency. It was our first time using Cannery so we were ready for surprises. Fortunately, the entire transaction was painless. We checked in, signed one piece of paper, collected our keys, and headed to the house, which turned out to be very nice. When it was time to check out, it was easy… just drop off the house keys at the front desk. No signing, no questions… Yeah! Note: They do not have a drop box for the keys so it’s best to plan around the office hours.

I rented a furnished subunit on West Balboa for 9 months through Cannery. I didn’t originally set up the lease with them, but they were accommodating with my roommates. They got to see our place multiple times before starting the lease to inspect it and take pictures. Cannery is a small office, about 3 or 4 ladies work there who were friendly and professional every time I worked with them. With a couple exceptions, the staff was always immediately responsive to maintenance requests. They didn’t charge me the late fee for turning in rent a few days late and we got most of our security deposit back. My only gripe was having to use expensive coin-op laundry machines. They raised the price midway through the lease, but this very well have been the decision of the owner of the place, I don’t know. Also, they removed money from the deposit for the blinds being messed up… but the blinds were damaged before we moved in and Cannery didn’t consider the damage big enough to send out a repair man. Not really fair but none of us really had the time or cared to argue with them over $ 75.
