If I could give Dr. Hersch and his staff more than 5 stars I would! I have three boys, two under the age of 10 and we have been through the entire spectrum of dental needs. All three of my boys suffer from major stress going to any doctor or dentist and Dr. Hersch makes it so easy with his skilled friendly staff and his fun and relaxing office environment. My oldest boy broke both front adult teeth in an accident and Dr. Hersch responded immediately to repair the broken teeth. He kept my son (and me) calm during the entire process. My youngest couldn’t get a filling without going under anesthesia and Dr. Hersch’s team helped us through the process. Taking your child to a dental appointment can be equally stressful for the parent and Dr. Hersch’s staff is so friendly and calming, even for the parents! Windows with ocean views, Video games, TV’s on the ceiling, toys at the end of the appointment, and staff that know how to speak to children in a fun light-​hearted manner, need I say more? I wish all businesses would take a lesson from Dr. Hersch and his team on how to provide a positive experience and a successful service to children.

Dr. Hersch and his staff are the best pediatric dentist around. We have been going to him since he took over for Dr Schlegel. He is knowledgeable, respectful to both the parent and child, and professional. I have trusted him with my children’s dental health for all these years. He was conservative on his choices, including in recommending orthodonture, which he only recommended for my oldest son and not my other two. All my children were happy to go to the dentist, which was never my experience growing up. In fact, when my daughter «aged out» of pediatric dentistry when she turned 18, both she and I were very sad, as was the staff. It was so sweet. Luckily, I still have a 13 year old, so we still have several years with Dr. Hersch and his friendly and warm staff.
I recommend Dr. Hersch very highly.

Run as fast as u can! I took my 5 year old son for X-​rays and an exam here. Dr. Hersch claimed my son needed a few crowns in addition to fillings. They also said they could only do silver crowns. I told them I would look for a dentist that offered white crowns and not silver. It was then when the receptionist called me back and said they would accommodate my request afterall.
I got suspicious and decided to get a second opinion. A renowned dentist in Encinitas said he definitely did not need crowns and only needed fillings. We also had another dentist view his original X-​rays from Dr. Hersch and he said my son clearly only needed fillings done on his molars.
Dr. Hersch has an ocean view office and I can only imagine how expensive rent can be in that building!
I am so thankful I did not put my innocent child through that for no reason other than a greedy dishonest dentist.
