While Tom Cruise may not agree, I think therapy is very helpful and makes your life better. Lisa is a good therapist. As a previous reviewer mentioned Lisa’s style is warm and inviting. She holds a Phd. in Psychology which I think is a added benefit as a lot of therapists don’t have that level of training. Second she has a lot of experience that she can draw from. Lisa is a good listener, not judgmental, and tries to give practical suggestions that you can actually put into use after each meeting. If you have never done this before, basically this is how it work. First you give her a call and she gives you some basic info and such and you can setup an appointment. Then you go in and fill out paper work like at any doctor’s office. The process is very private, unlike a busy doctor’s office there is no receptionist, the waiting room is quiet, and the only person you interact with is Lisa. Her and the other Therapists that work in her office seem to schedule appointments so you never see another person. After you fill out the paperwork, you flip a switch to let her know you are ready. Her office is really nice, the couches are comfortable and there is a lot of natural lighting. She’ll talk with you about why decided to come in, and what you want to talk about or accomplish. You then get started, basically you decide what you want to talk about. The time goes by quickly and the sessions last about 45 minutes. People seem to feel weird talking about going to therapist /life coach, that is too bad. I also think that some people believe therapy is reserved for people with major mental health issues… but that is not really the truth, while I’m sure Lisa is well able to help people who are suffering from a disorder, I think that people with more run of the mill work, family, money etc situations can actually get a lot out of therapy. Both as a couple and individually. The real advantage of talking with Lisa you can gain more insight into your own thinking, and better communicate with your partner, boss, co-workers etc, so you can take better control of your life and respond to challenging situations with healthy coping skills. If you are on the fence about doing it, just do it. It is like having a personal trainer for your brain.

Doing therapy isn’t just a job to Dr Lisa Henson; it’s a calling. She is an exceptionally gifted therapist who cares deeply about her clients. She has a warm and inviting style that makes it much easier to talk to her about challenging issues than is often the case in therapy. And although she is a wonderful listener, Dr. Henson is not one of those therapists who only listens; she also provides feedback, ideas, and suggestions in a truly collaborative fashion. Her wisdom, non-judgmental caring, and her creative and personalized. approach have enabled her to be of great help to many people seeking self exploration and change. I am a therapist myself, and I know many good therapists, but Dr. Lisa Henson is absolutely outstanding.
