Making Faces

I went to see Georgia 5 days ago and my wedding is in 5 days from today. I was in a panic. My skin has NEVER been a problem. To be honest, shopping for skin care products was always hard for me; «for dry skin» «for oily skin» «for acne prone skin». Where was the product «for already perfect skin»??? How could I complain though. Until THIS happened to me. My skin went crazy. And I panicked. It’s been 5 days since I’ve seen Georgia. Just LOOK at my progress photos!!! I’ve been using her en*core skin care line for only 5 days and seen such a difference. I have the face wash, mask, astringent, and gel moisturizer. I have high hopes that my skin will be as radiant as it used to be by this Saturday. Georgia is a miracle worker! She has given me my confidence back just in time for the most important day of my life.

I have been going to Georgia for years now and can’t believe I haven’t Unilocaled about how great she is. I have very acne prone skin and, thanks to time marching on, fine lines and a hint of crow’s feet, too. Georgia keeps my skin the best it can be. After I leave, I know my skin is clean and pampered. Next to zero breakouts now and diminished fine lines. She always has my best skin in mind and never over recommends products or services. That being said, she has an absolutely fabulous line of skin products that I love and repurchase all the time. If you are looking for a detail oriented, talented and experienced person to help your face look healthy and young, Georgia is the way to go!

Georgia is the best I have ever been to and I have been around. She is experienced and knows her craft. She has the newest treatments — that work. A great place that is relaxing and beautiful in design and she has other services there — massage, hair etc so you can coordinate with the other specialists and make your own day of beauty. I can, and do, highly recommend Georgia for her professionalism and kindness. She is a wonderful person and really will be truthful with you about what your skin can benefit from, but she is never «pushy». If you are looking for a facial, body wrap, micro-​needle, skin tightening treatments etc. look no further. Great parking, charming location. Just the best!!!

I just had my second Microderm with Georgia. She does such an amazing job. I developed Melasma with my last pregnancy. The silk Microderm facial is so effective, and makes my skin glow. Georgia has the magic touch, and I’m definitely going to keep coming back.

This review is for the massage I received from Yvette at Making Faces. If you like deep tissue, if you want a therapist who is STRONG, if you want a therapist who knows what she is doing, if you want a therapist who can work out even the toughest knots and spasms, then book the powerhouse Yvette!
I walked in the other day barely able to turn my head my neck was so knotted up, and this was the day AFTER I had had a massage and been to my chiropractor. I store all my tension in my neck so sometimes I just need a deep, deep neck massage. Luckily, I found Yvette and she is a miracle worker. Nuff said.
I’ve already booked two more massages with her, but please don’t call her and book all her appointment’s. I need to get in too!

This is a review of April Sampson, the cosmetic makeup artist of «Making Faces». I got her name from my pal, so I thought she was good. I called her ONE MONTH in advance to make an appointment. I wanted to get permanent eyeliner, as I can’t wear eye makeup because of allergies and sensitivity. I communicated with her extensively over email. So a week before my appointment she called me to reschedule:
April: Carrie, I need to move your appointment to give you more time.
Katie: My name is not Carrie.
April: Oh, sorry, what’s your name?
Katie: Katie.
April: OK, can I move you? Remember to bring CASH.
Katie: Fine, will you send me an email.
April: I don’t have your email address.
Katie: We sent about seven emails back and forth.
April: OK, I will. PLEASE BRING CASH!
Two days later, I received no email, so I emailed her and she confirmed.
Day Of Scheduled Appointment.(Telenovela Music).
The appointment is at 12:30, and I got a voice mail around 11:45 asking me to reschedule again. I would have honestly canceled when she called me Carrie, as I would like someone WHO IS GOING TO TATTOO MY FACE to know my name, but she did come recommended. So then we had a textual conversation, here is the gist:
KT (via text): I don’t feel comfortable doing my procedure today.
April: I was just trying to give you more time. I hope you would understand (blah blah blah).
KT: I do understand, but I don’t feel comfortable proceeding.
April: Just so you know I specialize in correction. Make sure the person you see is certified because you will probably get Aids or Hep C. Have a good day.
KT: You too.
Telling someone that they will probably get AIDS is gross. It is an insult to people suffering. I don’t know how people get away with talking to people like this. Truly. I was shocked. This just goes to show to always follow your instincts.

Below is an email I sent to my cousin re: my Dermsonic treatments with Georgia at Making Faces (she was hesitant and questioning the treatment):
Since we’ve discussed this, I wanted to give you an update on my Dermasonic, ultrasound, cellulite, detox, fat reducing, etc. treatments I’ve been doing. LOVE them! To your point, it’s not a miracle, but I’ve lost 13 pounds pretty quickly and I like what I see. I know it’s not «just» the treatments, but I do believe it’s a combination of them plus being healthier in general.
I’m more conscious of what I’m eating, not eating out as much, not eating fast food and crap, not drinking alcohol. But… I’m also not really exercising (not on purpose, just been super busy and honestly, not real motivated because I’m seeing results w/​o… although I know I need to, if not just for the emotional & physical health benefits).
I don’t feel I’ve peaked, let alone plateaued… my goal is to lose another 10 lbs. I’ll be pretty thin at that weight, but I want to see if I can get there. I am back down to my wedding weight (almost a year ago) and I was working out like crazy to get there!
That said, I’ve attached the brochure for the treatments. It mostly talks about cellulite, which isn’t a major issue with me (yet, but I’m also being proactive as I’ve seen how quickly things change with age!), but I do have some and it will only get worse with age.
Mostly, for me, what I like and have noticed is the cleansing effect, the «washing away of the fat cells» — I can see that and believe it. After the Dermasonic treatment, Georgia does a cellulite/​shrinking body scrub and lotion, she wraps me in plastic and I lay in a thermal blanket for 40 minutes (heavenly, not only is it good for heating up the fat cells, sweating out toxins, etc., it’s also relaxing, like «spa time» for yourself — which you wouldn’t normally get, but when you’re paying for it and committed to it, you «have» to do it).
I’ve done 10 treatments over 5 weeks, and will continue to do a once/​month maintenance treatment «forever» I think. I’ve built a great relationship with Georgia, the owner. I like her a lot, she’s a very nice, nurturing person and has been doing this a long time. She’s very knowledgable and licensed (many aestheticians and practitioners of these type of treatments are not, they buy the machine, take a weekend course and start practicing) and does everything from facials to microderm to peels to body treatments. I’ve been to many aetheticians over the years, and Georgia is GREAT!
Anyway, this is just a little «success story» of mine :)

I went to Making Faces for a facial that I purchased off of Groupon. I’d never been here before so I had no idea what to expect. It’s a pretty small place but the service is great. Georgia was really nice and very interested in making you feel comfortable. My facial was about an hour and the massage she gave was pretty amazing. The nice thing was that I didn’t feel like I received any less service since I was using a Groupon. This place is great for facials. I can’t say anything about the other treatments because I haven’t received them but I would think they would be good as well.

DO NOT GO HERE!
I was so disappointed. A waste of time and money.
Georgia was rude, did the service below my expectations. I felt she only did half the job and a poor half it was. The place was not relaxing. The service was terrible. If I could rate it a zero I would.

Georgia is absolutely amazing. Extremely clean salon, great service, totally affordable.

I just had the most pampering/​relaxing experience at Making Faces Salon in Newport Beach. I had a facial, and my skin feels clean and looks rejuvenated. It was more relaxing than any body massage I’ve ever had!!!
