My favorite local wine shop. I particularly appreciate the wine suggestions. And the service is always excellent.

The staff was extremely educated in their huge wine selection and happy to help when I didn’t know what I wanted or needed. Their parking lot also made it super convenient so I didn’t have to drive around searching for parking. Definitely recommend it and I’ll definitely be back!

Rolf’s is near my daughters home and we always stop by to pick up some great wine to share during my visits! Love this store! Super friendly and knowledgable staff! Makes my visits even more special!

I loveeee this spot! I always swing by on Fridays after work and Rick helps me find some good wine for the weekend. They have an amazing selection and everyone is so nice and helpful. Check out their wine storage option too, we love it!

This is my go to spot for wine in the Newport area. They have the best selection and great prices. I’m usually looking for some specific bottles and Rick always has them. Two thumbs up

Good Selection and knowledgeable staff. Best part is, if they dont have what you want on the shelf, they will go and find it and call you when it is in! Its nice to have found a spot that does specialty orders, and does shipping. Lets not forget to mention that they are one of the only places around town that carries Opus One!

This place is fantastic, one of the best spots to buy wine in Orange County. The prices are competitive with places like BevMo and Total Wines, and always stock a great variety (often difficult to find at the aforementioned retailers). The location is also great, given the proximity to the duffy and pontoon rentals.
What really sets this place apart is the staff. These guys know their wines. Always friendly and incredibly helpful, I’ll often go in there with a price range and ask them what I should buy.

Reasons I LOVE Rolf’s:
1) Rick. Rick is undoubtedly the most knowledgeable wine guy in Orange County. I have talked with many wine professionals in my travels, but Rick takes the cake! His knowledge of the industry and passion for wine will absolutely impress you, and his warm and caring personality will bring you back. Rick and his team are clearly the reason why Rolf’s has been a Newport staple for over 60 years.
2) Pricing and selection. I live in Newport Beach and visit 3 places for alcohol related purchases… BevMo, Hi-​Time, and Rolf’s. If you’re looking for great price on a vodka martini holiday gift set or a handful of mini liquor bottles, go to BevMo. Need a keg for that next rager? Hi-Time’s your place! But, if what you’re looking for is great pricing on wine, Rolf’s CAN’T be beat. Their selection is extensive, and they have many hard to find items that the big-​box retailers don’t carry.
3) Location and convenience. Rolf’s is in the heart of Newport on PCH… central to everything! Did I mention they have their own parking lot, so you don’t have to drive up and down PCH looking for a spot? Cheers to that!

Great selection of wine at the best prices. A Newport Beach classic. Knowledgable and friendly staff that can help you identify the perfect wine for any occasion or taste preference, and at a great price too. I don’t know much about types of wine or various wine labels, but I definitely know my own taste buds. Rick and his team always help me find the wine or beer flavor profile that I’m in the mood for. This local shop is the only place that I go for my wine and craft beer purchases.

Rolf’s is amazing, I recently stopped in here to pick up a few bottles before heading out on the Duffy. I am a little bit picky about my wines even though I am completely ignorant about the entire process. «I want a red and a white. I like red. I like white. I don’t like a cab where my tongue feels dry». That’s the extent of my wine knowledge. The owner was really understanding, asking me more about flavors I liked versus wine varietals, since I don’t know what I’m doing. He picked out an excellent Riesling for me because I said I wanted a white that was sweet and fruity and crisp. That wine was excellent. He also picked out a great Cab for me that did NOT leave my tongue dry. It was awesome, I wish I had taken pictures of the bottles.
Its in a great location with ample parking, but most importantly Rolf’s has great customer service and not once did he make me feel inferior for not being a wine expert. I really dislike snobby shop owners that act like they’re doing you a favor because they’re enlightened in the ways of wine. Wine should be for everyone, and good customer service imho involves explaining some of the tastes and flavors in order to make sure the customer picks a wine that they will be happy with. This is where Rolf’s really delivers. The huge selection is an added bonus. He also didn’t upcharge me on wines, picking out two that were incredibly reasonably priced for the event I was going to (eating Doritos on a Duffy). Hey someone else brought those damn Doritos okay? I have class.

Great customer service! This is walking distance from Newport pontoons and Gondola Adventures. My bf and I came here for the first time to pick up a bottle before a boat ride.
We thought this was a liquor/​convenience type store, but to our surprise, we stumbled into a classy cute wine «boutique». Seeing that we were in flip flops and half dressed in our bathing suites, I didn’t expect much customer service in this type of establishment. However, the worker (perhaps the owner.?) quickly greeted us and asked what we were looking for.
Somehow, he picked up on what we wanted, which was to get drunk… for cheap! So he suggested a $ 14 champagne lol. Not only do I appreciate him not trying to upsell, but he even took the time to give an elegant description of that champagne and why he likes it.
Thanks for making for feel like a refined lil lady at the minimal cost of $ 14! You can tell the workers here aren’t all about making money.

Rolf’s Wine never dissapoints! I recently went in to pick up a gift for a client and received the most impeccable service from Rick. He has so much knowledge about their wine selection and always makes the perfect suggestion for every occasion. Whether I need help pairing wine with the meal I am preparing that night or picking up a gift, he always makes thoughtful selections. My go-​to wine shop in Newport.

I’m a huge fan of Rolf’s Wine. They have been been my go to wine shop forever. The entire staff is extremely friendly and well versed in their inventory. I find that the big box retailers carry wines just for the sake of having a large selection. I much prefer the focused California selection that Rolf’s picks.
My recommendation for shopping at Rolf’s is to give the employees carte blanche. It’s as if you’ve created your own «wine of the month» selection, but in one visit.
Be sure to make the trip down to PCH and give Rolf’s a try. You won’t be disappointed.

The wine selection is phenomenal. It is tight and focused. The employees are more than willing to discuss their passion about wine. The prices are better than your average local big box store, if you can believe it.
They carry wines you may not be able to find anywhere else. They have the full lineup of Orin Swift.

Rolf’s rocks. Their wine selection is selective but quite nice, they know a lot about the wines they sell and the service is impeccable. They’ve been around for a long time because of the forementioned. They also offer off-​site wine storage in a climate-​controlled locale (at least they did a few years back… I would think they still do). While wine is their main gig, they do stock a number of beers and spirits more for convenience than anything else (and, I believe, beverage catering).
It has been a while since I’ve been a regular shopper there (I work at another wine shop nearby) but some of my early first loves of wine had their genesis at Rolf’s (my first tastes of quality Riesling from Germany, Rhones and Bordeaux from France and powerhouse Cabernets from California). So, whether you’re a casual shopper in need of a good bottle of wine for dinner or you’re looking to find another resource to tap into regarding wine, give Rolf’s a shot.
