Kids ages 7&9 had lessons with Alec today. They loved it! Both were able to stand. He was very attentive and fun. Fabulous weather and warmer water temp didn’t hurt either. Can’t wait to come back to Newport next summer and resume our annual lessons with Alec

My daughters and I (15, 18 and 51) had a great time learning, or attempting to learn, to surf at Surf Newport Now at 24th Street in Newport Beach. Dan worked us in on a busy day and had wetsuits and nice soft long boards waiting when we arrived. Our instructor Skyler gave us some quick tips, then we hit the waves. The beach at 24th Street is nice and shallow with small waves that break a distance from the shore … perfect for learning.
Skyler was in the water and gave us advice on timing, standing up and positioning in the board. He also helped with a nice little push to help us drop into the wave. My youngest was the first to stand up, followed by my older daughter, then, finally, I was able to stand on one of my last waves.
I’ve always wanted to try surfing, so this was a very fun and memorable experience. Thanks to Dan and Skyler!

Excellent experience! Preston was an awesome instructor. My first time on a board and rode 7 waves to the beach!

We loved Surf Newport Now! We had a group of 4 and all 4 of us caught multiple waves thanks to their instruction. They are so friendly and are 100% devoted to the customer and their experience. We’ll definitely be back next year!

These guys are amazing! What an awesome experience for five first time surfers. Ranging in age from 10 – 17 two boys and 3 girls were all able to stand up with encouragement from instructors!!! Awesome job guys, you really encouraged my kids and your in water and pre water instruction was outstanding!!! Thanks again you really gave my kids a vision of surfing they will never forget! «Surf Newport now» no really Now!!!

My grandson and I were visiting Newport Beach and he was trying to convince me to let him try surfing, we came upon Surfing Newport Now and after talking with Dan, I felt confident that this would be a fun experience for my grandson. Being 16 and living in a landlocked state, I didn’t have high expectations, but I was more than pleasantly surprised! Dan was an excellent teacher and coach, my grandson LOVED it and we got lots of pictures and videos. I highly recommend them!

Surf Newport was a great experience for my daughter. She had an awesome time and learned a lot from Dan and his team. She was up on the 2nd wave! And Dan was easy going and great to work with. I highly recommend Dan and Surf Newport.

Took two of my kids, age 8 and 14, for two surf lessons, while on vacation. This was the highlight of their week. Both were able to surf within minutes of the first lesson. We had two different instructors, each with their own style and each helped the kids in different ways. Dan made the whole sign up, getting the wet suits on, and into the water, easy and fun. My kids had huge smiles. They can’t wait to come back next year.

Dan is a veteran coach and absolute professional. My daughter and I had our first lesson today and it was the best 1−½ hrs of bonding time ever! I love their philosophy of ensuring safety and teaching proper technique… Dan and his instructors cater to your learning style and maximize your learning potential. I was thrilled that we both got up and rode on our first lesson — it is a complete understatement to say that they have exceeded my expectations. I am by no means, a beach bunny, but we were made to feel really comfortable and at ease. The instructors gave us an overview of what to expect, the pre-​lesson communication was detailed and informative, we arrived feeling prepared and super excited. So much fun and a definite destination activity for anyone vacationing in So Cal or for any local who just didn’t grow up in a surfing family. Thanks so much for an amazing experience!

My family has taken lessons from Surf Newport now for the last two years when we come on family vacation. The owner, Dan is friendly and knowledgeable. We had a great lesson and even got a t-​shirt and hat after our lesson.

Dan and his team at Surf Newport Now are the BEST hands down! They are so easy to work with, accommodating with schedules, and all around great guys. As a student you feel very comfortable and safe and you can actually learn quickly! My husband and I are Newport natives but never learned to surf — we have both taken lessons from Dan and his guys and have loved every second. You won’t be sorry!
