Good looking restaurant. A ton of food variety. Only one problem everyone and their mother was guarding the crab legs. Other than that not to much to say about the place. If you want crab legs your gonna have to fight. Stay hungry and enjoy your food my friends

This is one of the better chinese buffets i have been to in the hampton roads area. We went on a Saturday night and almost walked out because there was absolutely no one there but we must have just beat the dinner rush because by the time we left the dinning room was packed! This place had an amazing selection for what seemed like a small restaurant. My wife usually judges a buffet base on the amount of seafood it has and even she was impressed by the selection. I’m not sure how their lunch looks but i imagine it will be just as good!(probably with less seafood though) I would recommend this to all of my friends and will, I’m sure, become a regular here!

This was a fairly mediocre asian food buffet. I would really love to see improvement on the grill, particularly with both the items served and the friendlyness of the staff. It was also really weird that one of the workers(owner maybe?) wore a shirt advertising her weight loss and diet company with her before and after photo on it. Super proud of you lady, but a buffet goer probably isn’t your target market. The food tasted fresh, and was refilled often while we were there. The sweet and sour chicken was yummy. The hot and sour soup was kind of dodgy.

Tonight, 14 March, 2012, one hour after eating at the Red City Buffet, the wife got violently sick at her stomach, with explosive diarrhea occurring very shortly after that. Buyer Beware. @Removeyourhat

There’s nothing quite like a buffet when you’re dining with a large group of people and nobody can decide what they’re in the mood for… Red City is not bad! The price is completely reasonable for an all-you-can-eat buffet. The buffet itself was loaded with food that was constantly refreshed, nothing looked like it had been sitting for hours, thank goodness. I really liked that they had more seafood available than a lot of places. The Mongolian BBQ option is a nice touch. I was impressed with the variety of options available at Red City. I was much too full to try it myself but I could see coming here just for that, it’s not a big price difference vs a Crazy Fire type place for lunch. Sushi at a buffet skeeves me out so I steered clear of that one. Just my preference… When we first walked in I was put off by how empty the place seemed– there weren’t many other tables and I was wondering if that was a bad sign– but I noticed the turnover is fairly rapid and the crowd stayed about the same. So, they must do a fairly steady business. The young lady who waited on us(just drink refills really) was pleasant and kept my water glass full, which is all I could have asked for!

My husband and I went here about a week ago. Filled up our plates and after the first bite I knew I shouldn’t eat anymore. However I had not ate all day and was starving. Big mistake! Twenty minutes later my stomach was in knots and I spent the rest of the day in and out of the bathroom. I highly advise against going here.

The regular buffet was well stocked and everything I tried from it was on point the evening my wife and I went. No complaints there at all. The thing is, we went to Red City because they advertised having a Mongolian BBQ, which is one of my favorite options at such establishments. If you don’t have one, I’m not even going to bother with you. Sadly their version of the Mongolian BBQ experience was rather lacking and a huge disappointment. Thank goodness their buffet saved the day, but it wasn’t enough to make me go out of my way for a return. I’m here to tell all of you, the best Chinese buffet is in Willaimsburg next the K-Mart off of Bypass Road(Peking Restaurant). I’ve been going there for two decades and watched the place grow into a buffet behemoth. If they keep expanding, they’ll swallow up K-Mart. It’s worth driving the 20 miles to get there, and they do Mongolian BBQ the right way. Well, the right way as far as my experience goes. Red City does some things right for sure, but they’re far from the best. I promise you, the Peking Restaurant in Williamsburg is easily the best Chinese buffet in the entire state of Va. There’s a reason they went from a tiny little hole in the wall, to engulfing an entire section of a strip mall.

Whenever I go to Hampton, VA to visit my best friend, we always make a stop to Red City Buffet. Mainly because we feel like it’s the best Chinese buffet in the area. There isn’t a very large Chinese population here with a huge selection of authentic Chinese cuisine. Therefore, I’m rating this place according to my experience at other Chinese buffets around THIS area. For the most part, the other buffets have been less than mediocre. {Ambiance} Clean, Spacious, Quiet(at least every time we’re there) {Service} Very prompt, friendly, and accommodating. We brought my best friends son, who is a month old here. Our server kept on asking us if she could help us with anything. {Food} They hold the usual Chinese buffet items(lo mein, general tsao). But they also have a lot of seafood items that aren’t usually present at other buffets. There are traces of Thai, Korean, Japanese and Vietnamese food items here as well. For the most part the food here is flavorful and fresh, but every once in awhile I do come across something that is very bland. The entire buffet spread is always filled. Fresh items are constantly being placed. Their Sushi Bar and Mongolian BBQ station have a good selection of items. They are both included in the buffet price. All of the raw meats, veg, and noodles are laid out for the Mongolian BBQ. Once you’ve made your selection, the gentleman behind the counter asks you which sauces you would like(ie. soy garlic, spicy, etc). He then cooks up your food on the grill. Their dessert spread is also quite impressive. They’ve got different types of mini cakes, fresh fruit, pudding, eclairs, and a huge selection of ice cream. There is a freezer filled with Hershey Ice Cream cups beside the dessert spread. It holds your usual flavors like Vanilla, Chocolate, and Strawberry. But it also has Orange Sorbet, Coffee, and Swirl. There is a sign that if you want to take one of these OUT of the buffet, you will be charged a dollar. So try ALL the flavors you want at the buffet. It may not be the best ice cream out there but I appreciate that it comes with the buffet. {Price} We went on a Saturday for lunch which was $ 11/person. It’s more pricier than any of the other Chinese buffets we’ve tried in the area. However, the food at the other buffets have also been unsatisfying. Everything was either old, dried out, cold, or parts of the buffet were just empty. Whenever I’m in the area, this will remain as my go to Chinese buffet.

Tucked away in the Jefferson Commons strip mall, behind several chain restaurants on Jefferson, you could almost miss Red City Buffet if you don’t know it’s back here. At 6’4″ and about 270 pounds, I’m one of the thinner diners at this establishment this afternoon. Yeah, being tall spreads the pounds around, but seriously, there are some competitive eaters among us today. As Asian buffets go, this one has decent selections– their sushi is not the most inventive variety, but there are some choices including shrimp and tuna and salmon, which is better than the usual veggie and imitation crab offerings elsewhere in the 757. Tipping the sushi chef makes you an instant friend, and he will now hook you up with freshly made nigiri and rolls. There’s Korean, Chinese, Japanese, and even Thai food on offer at the steamtables. The Korean-style squid salad is a favorite of mine. The fried blue crabs are also pretty swell. You have to be willing to eat a lot of shell if you’re going to enjoy these, and I am. Sweet tea is really sweet at Red City, and the service is friendly and fast. A tip from me to you– hold back on the starches and instead pile up the fresh fish and raw shrimp, clams, oysters and the sushi of course. You can fill up on rice anywhere. $ 6.95 for lunch, and with drink and tip, it’s about $ 11 per person for a filling, speedy and decent lunch.

Worst Chinese/Japanese food I have EVER eaten. I would never recommend this place to anyone. Definitely not worth the 10.95 for dinner. The food was gross. The only thing good was the steamed rice and I have to give props to the sushi, but I have had so much better in this area. I should have ordered take out insteadvfrom somewhere else.

Other than their banana and imitation crab meat fried sushi, they have pretty good food. For a buffet, it is really delicious! I’ve tried several other places in the area, and. EW. that’s all I have to say about them. It is $ 6.95 for lunch with great choices, sushi is not too bad, just give him a tip and he’ll make you some good ones, dinner is $ 9.95 I believe with all you can eat crab legs — although everytime it comes out it’s gone within seconds by selfish crab lovers,. Come on leave a couple for other people, I feel like they are ready even stuff those crab legs in their pants pockets. Anyway, it really is a great place for a buffet!

Best buffet I’ve been to thus far, well at least in Virginia. You can’t beat 7 $ all you can eat lunches. I come here when I’m feening for a quick fix of chinese food and strapped for cash. The duck is ridiculously moist and tender. Also worth mentioning is the mayonnaise walnut shrimp! I always leave feeling bloated and satisfied. Waitresses are pretty cute too. They’re all Asians. Makes me feel like I’m back in California. Haha.
