Large playground broken up by age groups/skill level. There are bathrooms and water fountains at this location. I think they have even opened up a concession stand. The figure 8 is a nice trail to walk or jog.

Gets full of bugs and goose poopie after it rains! Be on the lookout! I like this park a lot… I swear I felt like I lived here when I lived in the area a couple years ago. This place is great for kids and adults alike. It’s a simple loop in design and theres nothing too complicated about it. Parking can get kinda hairy on the weekends or whenever schools have soccer matches but theres usually a couple spots available. The park has some shelters for rent where I’ve seen a couple BBQs and LARPers(Live Action Roleplaying) use. The Fantasy Farm playground seems like a nice spot for the kids(I’ve used the merry-go-round and swings: D) Theres also a concession stand that opens near the playground during their busier months with typical little snacks foods and drinks. The bathrooms can be a hit or miss-sometimes dirty with paper balls stuck to the ceiling and sometimes clean if a custodian was just there. Theres hills and slopes where people run up and down for sprints and I’ve also seen people use it for sleighing whenever there is snow(not sure if it’s technically allowed, though). The hills are a great place to practice yoga though. Theres also a small skate park near the parking and that seems to fill up quickly on the weekends. The track has pretty accurate mile markers and if you run the entire loop its roughly 1.6 miles however the track is split into two different 1 mile loops. You can bike, run, walk and skate the park. People also bring their dogs too, theres also a dog park, called Fido Field towards the read where you can go and socialize your dogs as long as they are registered and their shots are up to date. Beyond the Fido Field is the visitors center and a path that leads to a wooded area which follows a path to view the Warwick River. Like most city parks its sunrise to sunset as far as operational hours, the park rangers are usually cool is you stay a little pass closing though. The only minor compliant here is the goose poop especially when it rains it overruns the whole park and the lack of shade. Overall, I really enjoy this park because its simple and to the point. Its a great place to run and just take a stroll.

This is a nice, comprehensive park on the peninsula; huge playground(«Fantasy Farm»), garden, dog park, soccer/football field, and reserve picnic shelters. I noticed there was a soccer camp going on here with children of all ages. I like playgrounds that really make an effort to separate the«big kids» equipment from the«little kids» equipment, and not make the stuff for the little kids lame. Each age group had their own set of swings and wheel turn, as well as a bunch of nice large play sets in between. There are a bunch of covered picnic areas, decent bathrooms, and a learning garden that is clearly kept well manicured. I’m really enjoying finding all these nice parks in the area that are clearly hidden gems to the rest of Hampton Roads.
