Smooth Newport News

Well I just had my first experience with a Brazilian wax. It wasn’t half a bad as I thought it would be. I’ll definitely be going back to do it again. I feel really clean and there is minimal pain and no swelling or redness (its been about 3 hours since the wax was completed) the woman who did my wax was Laura, she was nice and she talked a lot which was good because some points during the session I wasn’t able to really think of anything to say. I’d definitely recommend going to Smooth and trying out their services. The price was normal (or so I’d imagine) and the atmosphere was very relaxing.

Now I’m no novice, I’ve been getting waxed for some time now. However, I’ve never had such a positive experience like I did at Smooth. This was, hands down, THEE best wax I’ve ever had. My visit here helped me to realize that I have been going to the wrong waxing studio for the past two years… and that I wont be going back.
I was out of town and short on personal time to complete my own errands. So I looked to the Unilocal community to help me find a reasonable and clean waxing salon and Smooth was on the list (high-​five to my fellow Unilocalers). In spite of the fact that I walked in with no reservation, they took good care of me. The salon is beautiful and serene, and you’re greeted by a smiling face as soon as you walk in. Laura, my esthetician, was amazing! She was super friendly and professional and took her time. She alternated between hard and soft wax where she saw fit, and answered all my questions. It was refreshing to have someone who was very knowledgeable about waxing options and overall skin care. I felt so comfortable that we held natural conversation during my entire session.
The aspect that really won me over, was the minimal amount of discomfort that I experienced. Over the years, I had grown accustomed to a certain level of pain/​discomfort while being waxed and just thought that came with the territory. Beauty is pain, right? But Laura showed me that that’s not the case at all. Not to sound dramatic, but Smooth has definitely changed my life! (Ok, so that’s a bit much, but you know what I mean) And to top it all off, I got 20% off for being a new customer. Wins all around! Laura and I joked about me having to come down to Newport News every 4 weeks, but after this, I just might.

Years ago I had my first wax by NIckie at the Norfolk location. It was as easy as it could be and I kept going back. I had to move away and continued to get waxed by salons in a couple of different places, none as good as Smooth was. When I moved back I went straight back to Smooth in Norfolk, they were the best, but I live on the other side of the river now. I was so happy when they opened up the Newport News location.
The salon is beautiful, bright, and colorful in the front. I never get to really look at their products because they are always right out to get me as soon as I get there. I’ve been waxed by multiple people at both locations and have always felt at ease during the process and the results were always perfect with very little to no skin irritation.
I will always recommend Smooth. You will not be disappointed.

The salon’s lobby area is so cute! I liked the décor and how everything makes one feeling like they’re really being catered to.
Had a waxing appointment done by Nicki, she was really nice and made me feel very comfortable. I didn’t feel awkward with her and our small talk helped me relax.

I just had one of the most wonderful experiences. First of all Smooth is lovely and fresh. The vibe of the place is very relaxing. Secondly, Aesha… she is awesome! I’ve been to waxing salons all over the world and she rates in my top 3. She is both efficient and detail oriented. Her conversational skills made the time fly by. She is definitely and aesthetician. She has me looking and feeling like a whole new woman. I’m about as flawless as I can get right now.

Nicki was fantastic! I haven’t gotten a Brazilian in a few years and she was not only professional but was great at explaining what she was going to do. The staff were super friendly and the young lady that checked me in did a great job answering any questions I had regarding their products being sold in the store. Not only was the service wonderful but the boutique is very posh, clean, and had a great ambience. I would definitely recommend this place if you want quality waxing and service! Go see Nicki, you will NOT be disappointed.

First timer here and so glad I decided to get that bikini wax. First of the place looks amazing. Everyone was professional. My person made me feel comfortable and explained everything thoroughly. I will def return!!!

I finally got over my fear and went to get a bikini and leg wax. I was warned that my first time would be particularly painful. When I arrived, the woman at the front desk was welcoming and friendly. The boutique was clean, smelled amazing from their scented candles, and was a lovely, comfortable space. Ksenia came to get me pretty quickly and was very thorough in explaining the process and what I would experience step by step.
She was quick, efficient, and a perfectionist — which I appreciated! She was also very nice, so it was good to be able to chit chat the entire time.
I will definitely be going back — they converted me!

Sooooooooo this place is now and will always be my go-​to for a wax. Everything in Smooth is so beautiful and serene and clean and professional even the most shy person would feel right at home. And can I just say that Ksenia (pronounced ‘Sane-​ya’) is every woman’s dream for an esthetician. She is polite, professional, takes her time, but is still quick. You almost hate for your service to be over. I wish I could speak to the many wonders of Smooth. Words just have not been invented. I am so happy they opened a location on Newport News side and it is on the jazziest area. Looks better than Va beach towne center. I just shake my head in awe beccause I just can’t tell you ladies enough. If you want quality, perfect, professional, amazing and I SWEAR a near painless waxing experience in a boutique that has ambiance like you cannot imagine. THIS IS THE PLACE FOR YOU… you will not be sorry. In 6 months when you sit back and think… Wow I’m really glad I saw that review on Unilocal about Ksenia and Smooth and I’m so glad I went… I will tell you now… you’re welcome :)

So happy to learn that Smooth Downtown in Norfolk opened up a second location in Newport News.
Laura was fantastic and did a great job on my eyebrows and bikini. I think this has been the best eyebrow shaping to date! Smooth gives you a refreshing wipe prior to your waxing session and also gives you antibacterial oil after a waxing session to avoid a breakout, avoid ingrown hairs or infection. I have sensitive skin and did not break out! Also like the fact they have hard wax which helps with sensitive skin.
The location is great with ample parking and cute area! They also have great skin care products, I have a hard time not trying to buy everything in sight.
Glad to have a waxing place across the bay that is clean, affordable and an all around awesome experience.

After finding this little gem on Instagram I decided to schedule an appt! After a long search of looking for someone to do my eyebrows, I’ve finally found a winner! Laura did an amazing job on my eyebrows. She was very sweet, followed my direction as to how I like my brows, and also give her feedback as to what she thought was best!
Whatever wax they are using is great as well! I’ve found a new home for my eyebrows, facials, waxing needs, and a great place to find boutique type candles, facial products, and all other goodies!
I’m very pelased!
