I became a Blue Box customer prior to traveling for our honeymoon — no one wants to look like a lobster in the Caribbean. They staff is friendly and thorough and the location is very clean. They went over the options thoroughly and I would go again the next time I need a boost. Feels nice to get a little vitamin D in the middle of winter.

I’ve been using this tanning salon for about 6 months now and I have no regrets. I was reading an older review that was saying the staff was not friendly, but they must have changed management or something because the first thing I noticed was how the staff was EXTREMELY friendly and helpful. As a beginner, she walked me through each step and recommended a tanning schedule that would best help me personally. Even now, when I have questions they don’t hesitate to help me out. When I needed to downgrade to a cheaper monthly package, there were no problems and the change was immediately made. The only complaint I have is how the location in Newport News always seems to have dirty floors in the tanning rooms. Make no mistake, the beds are always clean, but the floor and rug always looks like it hasn’t been swept in a couple weeks. Other than that, I would highly recommend this salon to anyone else.

This place is a rip off, and the staff is unfriendly. 1) I needed to tan for a few weeks before a wedding. 5 weeks of tanning was $ 95. One month was $ 50. So, after they gave me a tour of the facility, I decided to go with that. The lady then told me that I’d have to pay for two months, because they require 30 days to cancel a draft. Whatever. Still a better value than paying almost $ 100 for 5 weeks. Then she told me that they have a $ 20 fee, but they would waive that if I bought lotion. AFTER the 25% discount, the bottle of lotion I bought was $ 38. I was in a hurry, so I didn’t think too much about it. I get home and google it, and the same lotion was $ 21 on Amazon. 2) The staff are so unpleasant. Seriously. I’ve been trying to give them my freaking 30 days notice for two weeks, but every time I’m in there, they act like they’re doing me this huge favor by taking my money to potentially give myself skin cancer. The woman who signed me up just looks like she is the most miserable person on the planet and the younger girls who work there are just indifferent. The facility, however, is very nice, clean and modern. They have plenty of beds, so you don’t have to wait, and you can tan at any of their locations. The one in Hampton is much nicer, so I usually go to that one on my lunch break. I’d avoid this place if I were you. And if anyone wants to buy an almost full bottle of tanning lotion, let me know.

I’m pasty. I accept that but for a short period in my life I was on a mission to tan and look at least a little bit more Hispanic, lol. Anyway, if I ever decide to tan again I will definitely be returning to SBB. I mainly used the NN location but I’ve also been to the Hampton one as well and choose the NN location due to the nicer staff and it’s proximity to my residence at the time. This location can be a little hard to find as it’s behind a couple business and the parking is rather small but hey-its not the worst. The staff here is just fabulous! Everyone I’ve met has been great and really seem to enjoy what they do. The prices based on other salons I’ve researched before signing up for their membership is just a steal, especially for the variety and cleanliness of the amenities. I like that they beds were always clean and were the rooms. I used thier spray tan services as well and found that to be kinda fun even though I feel the lady could have been a little more descriptive for a first timer like me. I also took a jab at their infared body wrap thing and found it to be pretty niffty. I’m not completely convinced it works as I rather just run or something to shed some pounds but it was definitely a relaxing experience. Overall, I alwyas looked foward going to my tan sessions here. The inside is nice and relaxing and I knew I was always going to be taken care of. I hope to return soon but I wish they could open more spots near the north end of NN.

The older creepy manager is absolutely the worst. He embarrassed me in front of other customers by yelling at me for not using the lotion they sell and threatening to kick me out when I said I already had lotion on. He didn’t give me time to explain that it was just regular everyday lotion not outdoor tanning lotion. Worst customer service of anywhere I have ever gone. Do not go there.

Love this place. I go to this Sunday’s and the one off Coliseum(also in Hampton) at least 2x week and I’m a huge fan. They have a fantastic selection of different levels of beds(all reasonably priced, but basically there is a package for every budget!). The fans are probably the best I’ve ever seen in a tanning bed, esp in the upper level beds. Each bed has it’s own music player which offers 5 or 6 different«channels» and most have the ability to connect an AUX for your iPod as well. Beds and rooms are always clean. They’re a decent size too, with a chair, a small shelf and a hook on the back of the door for your stuff. Best part about Sunday’s is the staff. I have never gone in and been greeted with anything but enthusiasm and cheerfulness and I’m so impressed that they are able to remember the names of all their customers after only a few visits(some of them even remembered my name as early as my 2nd visit)! They offer great tanning packages that allow you to pay month-to-month where the monthly fee is automatically debited from your checking account, which I love! No need to even think about it! :) They also offer some fabulous deals, especially around the holidays, where you can prepay for a year of tanning and save a bunch of money! In addition, any tanning packages you buy, or even lotions, will give you Blue Bucks, which are basically credits that you can use to put towards lotions or upgrades(to higher level beds). To give a little reference, I had been tanning here for about a year, and had just bought a prepaid package to carry me for another year when I got orders to CA for 5 months(I am active duty military). Although I was excited about my orders, I was bummed that I was going to lose out of nearly half of my tanning package. I contacted Sunday’s through the website, explained my situation, and they put my entire membership on hold for the entire time! I didn’t lose any time, or Blue Bucks or anything. I was so grateful. They really look out for their members and am certain they would try to work with any situation that came up. Aaaaaand after coming back from CA(Monterey, mind you, which is a haven for people with loads of money — I didn’t fit in ;) haha) I was so happy to get back to Sunday’s. I was really expecting the salons in CA to be top-notch and they aaaaall disappointed. In 5 months, I tried(no exaggeration) 9 different salons and not one of them even came close to comparing to Sunday’s.

I have been tanning quite a few years now and I am HIGHLY impressed with the staff I have met at the Newport News and Hampton locations. I have been tanning at Sundays for a little over 3 years now. The beds are maintained to the highest of standards, their prices cannot be beat, and their staff is knowledgable and friendly. I have heard nothing but good things about the Sundays over on Southside, though I have not been there myself. Yes, they want to make the sale, but they also are all about caring for your skin when you tan or spray tan. I highly recommed going to Sundays Blue Box.

This place is just ok. The prices are comparable to other places in the area and on the outside, this place looks like it is nicer. The facility is always clean and you see the staff constantly cleaning which is pretty important to me. The front desk staff are friendly. On the downside, it is super busy. The beds get insanely hot and stay that way. Every time I have tanned here the beds were hotter than I have ever experienced elsewhere. Even the standup was so hot that you couldn’t hold your arms up on the bars because you would burn yourself. I mentioned it when I came out and they were like, yeah, we know. So you wouldn’t mention it to a customer heading in that they might burn themselves? or better yet, do something to fix it? Sheesh. Another room I went in had NOFAN at all in the bed and they did not bother to mention that on my way in, either. I noticed a fan on the floor in the corner when I got out. Too late, all the while I was wondering why they put me in a bed where the fan was broken. Most times I have waited for a bed here. The new location finally opened this week near the Peninsula Town Center and I’ve been there once. had a much better experience but I bet that is because they are not super busy just yet.
