My girlfriend and I decided to have dinner here for our anniversary. The server Michael C was awesome! Michael was very professional and had a very profound knowledge of the menu! We will defiantly return

Nice kids menu. Chicken fingers get a 5 rating. Kids cheeseburger gets a 3… Turkey club was average, but nice. Portobello sandwich got two thumbs up! Service very good. Atmosphere awesome! Hostess great. Wait not long. Prices very inexpensive for view and location and food quality. Outdoor bar tables were great!

Came here with a group of 5 for lunch. When they initially wanted to seat us in a darker indoor location, we asked for something closer to the window and they moved a couple small tables together to accommodate us, which is good service. They have a good selection of beer and wine here. Had oysters and calamari, both of which were great. The calamari is served Rhode Island style with hot peppers and only using the ring pieces, which was nice. I had a warm lobster roll, and it was pretty good.

Impeccable and very professional service. They really made an effort to ensure the entire parties needs were met(14 – 80 years old!). Good was excellent and they were gracious about sharing meals or ordering only sides or appetizers. Pork chop was delicious as was the scallop appetizer. Oysters also delicious. Nice setting on the docks

One of the best restaurant experiences I have had in quite a while. We made our reservation weeks in advance requesting a round table by a window for a bachelorette party and our request was perfectly answered. Our server was amazing(I do not remember her name) but she knew that menu inside out and answered all of our many questions happily. She was friendly with just the right amount of spunk and uniqueness to make the experience feel personal. the majority of us started with white sangria which was quite a hit. Everyone raved about it. I ordered a cilantro and watermelon radish margarita. although it was beautiful, it was hard to drink because of the excess of sour mix. The waitress noticed that I hadn’t put a dent in the drink while everyone was finishing theirs and offered to switch it for something else. I had another specialty cocktail which was cucumber vodka with ginger beer which was much better; very refreshing and easy to drink! I loved it! As starters, we all ordered either a soup or salad. The French onion soup was the best I have ever had! Lots of melty cheese, croutons and soft, sweet onions in a perfect broth. The clam chowder was also spoken highly of although I did not personally try it. I thought that the field greens salad was a bit overpriced at $ 9.00 for a plate with mostly plain spring mix. Other than that, we were impressed by all the starters enough to make the $ 9.00 worth it! even the bread and butter that they serve complimentary was very good. For me entrée I ordered the seafood tagliatelle entrée which was $ 32.00 and well worth it. Thanks to the chef, I ordered scallops rather than salmon since I am not a huge fan of salmon in pasta dishes and I am so glad they allowed us to do that! it was absolute heaven! the tarragon cream sauce and Cremini mushrooms complimented the seafood perfectly. I will absolutely order the exact same thing again! There was an upcharge for the scallops but well worth it because they were perfectly cooked and ginormous! I suggest sharing with the side dishes and entrees because the portions are generous! We were stuffed so skipped out on dessert hesitantly.

I wanted to give this place a four star review. We were seated promptly. I was nostalgically charmed by décor that reminded me of my father. When Paco asked to move around the tables, the waiters kindly agreed and took care of our fengshui needs. The bread is a Pullman loaf. It was dry and needed butter. Normally, I see the need for butter as good. This butter was covered with fat sea salt crystals. Yuck! The calamari was wonderfully fresh, with a mild sweet flavor that was overwhelmed with jalapeño peppers in vinegar. My scallops were like butter. I enjoyed the sweet hot mustard, vinegar glaze reduction and candied pecans. The cut of pork fat was cut too thick and the meat too tough for my liking. My steamed lobster and melted butter were two pounds of heaven. The side of spinach was amazingly generous and good, even though it was not creamed, as described. If you’re ordering lobster for two, it’s better to order two lobsters. That way you get two sides. Excellent food and gracious service aside, when it was time to refresh myself in the lady’s room … Some things are better left unsaid. It was filthy!

Amazing drinks, food, and service. If you want the best dining experience you need to ask for Rosé Mike(no one else will do). Food — insanely good. Get the short rib appetizer. For dessert, get drinks.

We planned a quick, 24 hour vacation to Newport without kids, so I really poured(no pun intended) over where to make dinner reservations, as we rarely get out to eat at a fine establishment sans kids. This place did not disappoint. Delicious food, friendly attentive staff and excellent location. My salmon was cooked to perfection and the Brussel sprout/sweet potato hash it came with had such a unique flavor. Highly recommend this place!

I went for my 21st birthday with some friends and was able to book a table of 7 for 8:15 on their website the day before. Was pleased with the reservation process and was seated right at 8:15. The waitress was a bit snobbish and the process of ordering was a bit slow: she first asked us if we wanted bottled water or tap, then took our drink orders, then appitzers, then dinner. In between each order was about a 10 – 15 minute gap, and we didn’t actually order our dinner until we were there for at least 40 minutes. Because of that we didn’t get our main entrée until a little short of 10pm, which we were all pretty hungry by then. The drink menu wasn’t too bad, my friends ended up ordering me a long Island and a blueberry lemonade and I’ll admit I had to get cut off after the long Island because it was pretty strong. Being my 21st celebration that’s what I was going for. Something that was a bit upsetting was the fact that we ordered another round of drinks after dinner, waited for 20 minutes, and we’re given the check and no drinks. We weren’t charged for them, but they definitely forgot about our order. The food was probably the only part of my night I have no complaints about. I looked at the menu online and went into the restaurant wanting the seafood tagliatelle and I was not disappointed. Overall, service was extremely slow but the food was delicious.

Great service, great starters, nice wine, bit I should have had the steak or fish. I tried a seafood medley that was not so great. The seasoning was very inconsistent through. My dining partner had the Yellowfin which was very good. Mushrooms were excellent but my twice baked potato was served cold. Nice atmosphere, but as others have said, noisy. On the expensive side especially their wine selection.

This review should be 5 stars because the food and location is wonderful but the service was so bad, I have to knock off 2 stars. Granted we arrived late for lunch but there were plenty of people still being served when we arrived. Two things ruined the meal: the waiter who was a pompous a** and not attentive. I couldn’t believe how full of himself he was. To show his«skills» he made a huge deal about everything he did including a high pour of wine into my glass. Now I know one occasionally does this with a fine red wine but a cheap rose? I can’t help but wonder if he’s got such a chip on his shoulder now two weeks before Memorial Day, what will he be like after the summer season by Labor Day. I can forgive the a crappy waiter but the food took almost an hour to make it to our table. After 45 minutes we flagged down another waiter to get at least a basket of bread(which should have been served, oh, maybe 40 minutes before??). By the time we left, everyone was gone and they were setting up for dinner! To be fair, they did comp the drinks but it didn’t really matter by that point. I would go again for the food but maybe eat at the bar.

Absolutely amazing time and dinner. Sitting at the bar with Molly. Made our night a special event. Food was excellent. Scallops appetizer with Delmonico steak were both delicious. Everyone was friendly and hospitable. Great experience! A must in Newport!

We dined at 22 Bowens recently and were very happy with the experience. We had a 7:45 reservation, arrived over an hour early just hoping to grab a spot at the bar and kill time, but to our surprise they offered to fit us in immediately despite the packed restaurant week crowd. The RW menu wasn’t really calling to us, so we started with the cheese plate. I have to say was not my favorite. I prefer a softer bread instead of crostini with a cheese plate, and the pepper jelly wouldn’t be my first choice, but those are both just preferences. The main courses to follow were excellent — my husband had the aged steak, which he was quite pleased with, and I had the seafood tagliatelle, which was outstanding. It had a generous portion of fresh pasta, lobster, salmon and shrimp in a tasty sauce. It really hit the«Newport» spot for me on our first night in town. In retrospect I appreciated it even more after dining the following night at another spot on the neighboring wharf whose seafood pasta was much less generous. Service was professional but friendly, and the place had a good atmosphere — classy but not too uptight, busy but not too crowded or loud feeling. Overall, I definitely filed this one under«would visit again» when thinking of future visits to Newport!

I have been here a few times the past year and each time have had a good experience. Most recent time was for lunch. We went after the st Patrick’s day parade. Now if You’ve been to Newport that day you know it’s a mess. Every place is busy. Most are at capacity so you can’t get in anywhere to eat. I’m assuming no one thought to come here because it’s pricey. You get what you pay for. Five of us had beers and burgers. 16 $ for a burger but it was good quality meat. It was also huge and some of us couldn’t finish it. As busy as it was our waitress did a good job checking on us, making sure we had everything we needed. The burgers were good but if your going to go here id go for dinner for sure. They have a damn good filet. If your looking for a little upscale dining this is a great option. It would also be a great date night place if your trying to impress your date.

Reservations easily made on . A staff member called to confirm my reservation the day before… nice touch. Upon arrival, sat immediately at a window table and staff descended upon the table almost instantly. Not in a pushy way, but there with water and to offer a beverage. Great wine list to choose from and a full bar. We started with a bottle of champagne while deciding on our selections. The tasting menu caught our eye, but we both wanted the same thing off that, so one got it and the other ordered a la carte. We started with the tuna tartare and a short rib/goat cheese flatbread. The food was amazing and the portions were incredible. Sushi grade ahi tuna with house made wontons, perfectly seasoned and the flatbread is a must! It’s seasonal, so get it while it lasts. Main course was another bottle of champagne to wash down the 22B filet and the tagliatelle bolognese. Filet, perfectly medium rare, was accompanied by hericot vert(french style green beans), blue cheese and a mushroom sauce. The bolognese was delicious and the perfect portion. We split the dessert from the tasting menu since we were so full. I would have loved to try the others, but I was done. Server was always there when needed. The assistants kept water glasses full, the food courses always arrived in a timely manner and the atmosphere was great. Highly recommended and a return visit will be made soon by us.

Its worth the price(and that say’s a lot!!). Dark, quiet and right on the water. Waters are extremely friendly, knowledgeable and seem to know whether you like to chat it up, or just want them to quietly fill your water glass and step back. THE spot for a special romantic event or a business dinner if the Company is paying.

Came here at the last minute for Thanksgiving day. Spent a good 5 hours eating and drinking at the bar while watching the game. Food is f’n phenomenal. I’d be embarrassed to write down all that we ate that day but I can tell you that you can’t go wrong with anything. Bartenders were very professional and attentive. Oh and get the Gin drink with berries

22 Bowens has a fantastic location, set in the heart of Downtown Newport on one of the busiest wharves, bustling with shops, bars, and restaurants alike. This makes the people watching here absolutely spectacular. What I love and hate about Newport Restaurant Group is that you come to expect the same flavors on their(mostly) repetitive menus. I’m a fan of consistently good service and food which is what you get at any of their restaurants. What I’m also a fan of is creative menus with interesting flavors which is kind of what you get at their restaurants. It’s always good but I don’t ever leave blown away. We chose 22 Bowen’s based on consistency and location and weren’t disappointed by either.

While local Rhode Islanders may be familiar with the Newport Restaurant Group(Boat House, Castle Hill Inn, Hemenway’s, The Mooring, Smoke House, Trio, Waterman Grill) I can only review based on my one dining experience. 22 Bowen offers a more casual outdoor seating area and the main dining room which also has an outdoor dining table. We sat outside the dining room and felt our server and service overall was what you might expect from a high end establishment. For starters we had the bay scallops(3), and lobster corn fritters(9). I didn’t particular notice any lobster but the fritter and side of sauce was at least filling compared to the scallops. For entrees we had a Veal Chop, Filet Mignon, Asparagus, and Mashed Potatoes. The sides are good to share with 2 or 3 people but unfortunately didn’t taste or offer anything that made you say wow this is good. The meats were okay, disappointing for the price you could say. I’m surprised given the wide range of upscale tourist on yachts that this restaurant didn’t over deliver.
