Great restaurant with very reasonable prices considering we’re used to California. I wouldn’t categorize this restaurant as Mediterranean, more like Italian. We shared the Caprese salad, I have liguine with clams. My wife had veal picatta. Both were excellent. We were very pleased to find such a great restaurant on the coast.

Nice, quaint, intimate, would describe the whole experience. Friendly server was always attentive and helpful. Small restaurant which I like, linen tablecloths, nice glassware and the food was good. Chicken picatta was not great, the chicken has a strange texture, felt like it was not fresh but the sauce was great, and the wine pairing recommended was perfect. We arrived late and they were still friendly as we were the last party out the door lol. We would go back again.

We had a mixed experience at April’s. The server described the bruschetta special as having fresh tomatoes, basil and Parmesan cheese. The tomatoes had been pickled or marinated and were so tart that we could barely eat them, and the amount of Parmesan cheese was so minimal as to be non existent. We would have appreciated a more detailed description so we would have been forewarned about the tomatoes. Our main course was fresh Chinook salmon on a farro salad with fresh local ingredients. The salmon was perfectly cooked(medium rare) and was very fresh. Delicious. The service was one star at best. Our server paid very little attention to us from beginning to end of the meal. Never came back to ask how the meal was, seemed not to care about making us feel welcome at any point. I see from other reviews that mediocre service has been an issue at this restaurant for a long time. I would suggest that some thought and training be given to correct this, as the food and ambience deserve it.

Dinner here was great! I would HIGHLY recommend it. I’m not sure why Unilocal calls April’s «Mediterranean» because the style of food is definitely more farm-to-table/local/seafood/Italian.

Great meals in a friendly quiet setting and views of the sunset over the ocean. Fresh local ingredients with an Italian theme. The Caprese salad with fresh tomatoes and pesto was excellent tonight. Reserve your éclair for dessert as they commonly run out.

My son, age 10, and I walked in without a reservation were told there wasn’t a table available. I said, OK, we were only interested in dessert and asked if we could just take it to go… she said sure. Two minutes later a man walked in without a reservation and asked for a table and she seated him right away. What’s up with that? To make matters worse the desserts, the chocolate torte and éclair, were mediocre.

Had to change our reservations to 8 p.m. due to late arrival to Newport. It’s a ways from the I5. Passed through many small town, agricultural, rural, and wineries enroute to Newport. April’s was our 1st night’s dinner. Guessed it would be the nicest for our 3 night stay. We felt it was a small beach town restaurant pushing the best pacific northwest style with a touch of Italian influence. One entrée we ordered was the linguini with clam & roma tomatoes. Really needed some brightness in wine & garlic. Felt like it was a touch toned down for the novice. The 2nd entrée was the top siinrloin, which was seasoned well. Enjoyed the bacon jam touch along with the gorgonzola although it was not medium well as ordered. Service was mediocre. Waiter acted overwhelmed or busy at the least. Did not check in, explain dishes, refill water, etc. Desserts were nice. Finished the meal with crème brulees and a giant éclair. Both were good.

April’s at Nye Beach is a quaint restaurant serving very good food. My meal began with an excellent caprese salad featuring a variety of perfectly ripe tomatoes, a creamy burrata cheese, fresh basil, and high quality balsamic vinegar liberally sprinkled on top. For my entrée, I had a steak served with their house-made steak sauce, which was very tasty. My wife had the chicken piccata, which was first served under-cooked but readily made right with a new portion. My wife, who generally does not order piccata, loved it! We shared a raspberry cream for dessert, and it was a perfect way to end the meal. This would be a five-star review if the service had been five-star. Unfortunately, our server was a bit abrupt when we asked questions and never once asked how we were liking our food, although we volunteered enthusiastic praise. He was professional, but somewhat cool towards us.

Aprils is exceptional even if the price was twice what we paid! The food is fresh, home grown and served with so much flavor even after your full you can’t help but keep eating! Each dish is unique and perfectly designed to elevate each and every flavor in the dish. Creative, delicious, and very well priced. This is a gem on the Oregon coast not to be missed!

Possibly the best meal I have ever eaten, including wonderful meals in Europe. I had the fresh Tuna and Denise enjoyed her fresh salmon. The appetizer, polenta and mushrooms, set the stage — it was delicious and sparked our taste buds. I ate everything on my plate — the vegetables were incredibly fresh and perfectly prepared. And the rhubarb crisp with the incredibly ice cream they made was fabulous. The service was top-notch and everyone was so friendly… I can’t wait to go back!

I really, really wanted to love this place. The reviews were great and we were looking for a new place to try. I ordered iced tea, and was disappointed to take a sip of something that tasted like Lipton tea. We started with the bruschetta, which was ok, but very basic. I ordered the steak with gorgonzola and bacon jam, which sounded amazing. The plating was beautiful. Unfortunately, I ordered the steak medium rare and it came medium to well done. Along with being overcooked, it had little to no flavor. I mentioned this to our waitress so that she could let the cooks know, and wasnot very polite about it. She barely responded and walked off. On a whole, she was very inattentive. The dessert(crème brûlée) was really good. Would not go here again and was very disappointed.

Had a lovely salmon dinner after a great cup of minestrone soup. Cozy place, sweet atmosphere, got right in on a Saturday night, friendly prompt service. Reasonable prices for good food. Highly recommend!

Great atmosphere, not very kid friendly though. The food was excellent and very fresh. We had the steam clam appetizer, halibut, scallops, and small portion cheese pasta. The wine selection by the glass could be better. The chocolate torte and crème brûlée were fabulous(the only thing missing was a cappuccino).

Enjoyed the atmosphere. The restaurant is very small and locally owned which we enjoyed. The best food we have had on our entire trip. Loved the fact that everything tasted home grown and made from scratch. Definitely would recommend to everyone.

We chose April’s as the spot to have our last dinner in Newport during our vacation, and I’m so glad we did. Freshly prepared food(I had a halibut special, my husband had lasagna), a romantic setting and great service… there’s really not more you can ask for. We split a chocolate éclair for dessert and it was delicious. Though I haven’t tried every restaurant in Newport, I’d be comfortable saying this one is the best in town. Definitely make a reservation — even on a Sunday night when most tourists had gone home, April’s was crowded.

Good food, friendly but inattentive service.(Never checked in with us, left dirty dishes too long, looking around at other tables while we were ordering, etc) Got the feeling that owners are maybe trying to get by on too little help, or maybe somebody didn’t show up. Food was great. Everyone ordered something different and all enjoyed. Read a comment about cesear salad not being good. Totally disagree — I loved it! Cesear salad is all about the dressing of course and this one was a perfect blend of garlicky, creamy, briny yummyness over fresh crisp romaine. We sampled different desserts; others seemed to prefer the chocolate torte which made me happy because I didn’t want to share the crème brûlée. It was yummy… didn’t have all the extra nonsense that some chefs do to crème brûlée — it was just classic and good. And no heat on the custard — bravo! Don’t be expecting gorgeous ocean view dining experience. Maybe one or two tables have view of water, it’s very obstructed view.
