RIP Monkey Newport!!! I would add a pic of one of the sweet monkey paintings that used to hang there but I do not know how to. :( OMG I just called and they relocated! YEAH!

Update: they are CLOSED. from the website: To our valued customers: It is our sad duty to inform you that, due to our lease expiration and the likelihood of the property being sold by our landlord, we will not be reopening the Cheeky Monkey Restaurant. We wish to thank all of you for your patronage these past ten years! ____________________________________ We have eaten a here few times. The décor is very attractive. They take some chances with the odd dish or two when it works it’s tremendous. For example I tried a non-traditional Nori roll that was quite yummy. The desserts are very good. Tad on the high side for wine mark-up. Service has been fair to spotty. In my final analysis, for dinner, it’s just 3.4 and I can’t go to 4 stars. Our first time here Brad Faxon(*) came in with a large party so they have some star pull. It is a hip place to be and be seen. * PGA Tour

I hit the Cheeky Monkey last September amidst 21st birthday celebrations for my cousin. The décor was cool — we had lots of fun sneaking up the stairs to take pictures with a giant monkey statue. The place really lends itself well to the drunken photo op. I didn’t eat there, so I can’t comment on the food, but it seemed like a pretty chill place.

I like Cheeky Monkey because of their hip décor and design. If you love watching people and meet some yuppy crowd. This is the place. But food here are fun, fusion and local as well. I can’t say I love any dishes here particularly like any other Newport restaurants. It is worth a go though. Average check per person? I don’t know coz depending on what you are gonna get. I would say it is a nice cool place to meet cool people in Newport. Is that enough?
