I love Dixie Chili. I am from Kentucky and this is my favorite chili place in Kentucky. It is not a Cincinnati thing! The locations for Dixie chili are ky locations. I always get a three way with a side of extra chili. My husband is from Cincinnati and he loves this place as well. They have quality chili here for sure. Also very yummy waffle fries.

This place honestly puts Gold Star and Skyline to shame. Best Cincinnati style chili you will find anywhere. Another plus side is that if you aren’t feeling chili you can get a Greek gyro and an order of Greek fries.

Transplanted from central Ohio to NKY25 years ago and was familiar with Cincinnati Chili long before that out of the big three chains left Skyline, Gold Star and Dixie Chili. Dixie is my favorite. There are several single location chili joints that I like even more, but of the chains I like Dixie the most. also I like the taste and the wide variety of other entrees and sides they offer. When taking the whole family out everyone can get something they like even vegetarian chili which sounds odd but is delicious. While Dixie is a small chain you still get a great diner vibe with a jukebox and their layout. Never had an unpleasant experience in a the years frequenting the several locations and the whole family prefers Dixie although we frequent the competition as well.

Hands down my favorite chili place. I’ve had this a few times and more than once I had it while inebriated but that doesn’t take away from the amazing chili they serve. My only complaint is a little more pricey than skyline but there’s something about their chili that makes it better than skyline.

Dixie is my one true love in life… well, food wise. I love Dixie in ridiculous amounts. I don’t even know how I’m supposed to review something of such perfection. Dixie Chili is the best«Cincinnati» style chili around. They have their normal chili, and they have vegetarian chili. Both are amazing. I have a handful of vegetarian friends and they LOVE getting Dixie because of the great vegetarian chili. Besides the normal Conies, and(Insert Number) — Ways that you will find at any Cincinnati Chili Restaurant, they have amazing Gyro’s. They also have waffle fries. You can get the waffle fries as chili cheese fries. I just usually get them as cheese fries with a side of ranch and split them with whomever I’m with. It is so good. I love their waffle fries. Other things to try that they have our sandwiches, salads, and cake. They also have root beer floats which are awesome. I love getting Barqs Red Cream Soda instead of the root beer as a substitute in a float. It is SO good. Other than the amazing food at Dixie, and how affordable it is. The atmosphere is legit. I love the old diner feel. I love the sassy older southern women who work here. The guys who work here are always really nice and polite. The younger girls though are the ones that are usually pretty short and rude with you, but I could care less. I just ignore them for the two minutes I have to speak to them at the register and move on to get my food. Dixie is also open late every night. They are open to 1AM on weeknights and 3AM on the weekends. If you eat Skyline or Goldstar and haven’t had Dixie, you are missing out on life and the best Cincinnati style chili ever.

As with all chili parlors in Cincinnati you can’t go wrong with Dixie. They offer the typical Ways along with their Six-Way(beans, onions, and fresh garlic) along with gyros and my favorite, waffle fries with chili and cheese! The ordering system is a bit different though so be aware that you order and are given a tray and your drinks and food is typically brought out to your table if it isn’t given to you while you are in line waiting for drinks.

What I like about this place is that it’s open late! I live nearby to so I walked to the place. Had never been here before and The lady was very nice to help me decide what was good to eat here. I went ahead and ordered the chicken strips with the apple sauce. I was a little surprised the strips came with apple sauce I had seen that before. I ordered the waffle fries on the side. The meal was pretty satisfying, not the best chicken strips ever but pretty good that I will probably go back for a late snack! As far as the Price, it was a little more than what I wanted to spend. Every item on the menu is sold separately, so no combo meals. I spend almost 11 dollars for 3 chicken strips that included a side of apple sauce, I ordered a side of waffle fries and a small drink. The meal was satisfying but but worth the price. The environment was good, since it was open late people were steadily coming in and out and there was outside seating which was great on a cool day. I would definitely go back to try the chilli I heard it was good.

I have never been to Dixie Chili and I have never been much of a chili kind of guy. Very messy and unappealing to the eye. however that is not the feeling I got when I went in. I thought the establishment was clean and welcoming. I wanted to go through the exit door to enter and felt dumb when it wouldn’t open like a tard. I had 2 delicious coneys. They were trying to get me to try the 3-way but I wasn’t sure, maybe next time. The waitress there monika was kind and attentive as well. Overall a nice small lunch.

By far the best chili in town. Very thick and rich with a heaping of real cheddar.

Dixie Chili is consistently delicious. We had friends in from out of town, and what kind of hosts would we be if we didn’t treat them to an alligator? Who am I kidding we ordered about 5 alligators, but who is keeping track. The service is great and the food is fantastic. My wife and I love, LOVE the alligator. If you have not tried one of these I really suggest you treat yourself. Alligator — hot dog, pickle spear, mustard, mayonnaise and shredded cheddar cheese … bliss. In a region dominated with great chili parlors, Dixie Chili stands out among the rest! Unilocal’s Chili Parlor Cheat Sheet:

My boyfriend and I discovered this hidden gem back in October after a late night of Halloween fun and we fell in love! We’re from out of town and didn’t know what to order but the staff was so friendly and helpful. The place was very clean and it was delicious! Super laid back place. Best hidden secret in Cincy if you ask me.

I like eating here, the chili isn’t the best in the area, but it’s still very good. Great atmosphere, I’d go more if it was closer.

Short and simple: Dixie is open late, has great vegetarian chili, and is a cheap option with plenty of variety.

Chili 6 ways. Chili, spaghetti, beans, an insane amount of cheese, garlic and onions. AND I added jalapeños. I went for it. Needless to say, I spent the rest of the evening in the bathroom. Lol. And um… I hardly tasted the chili, itself, so I can’t tell you if it was good or not. The concept is certainly interesting, though, something I would have never dreamt of. It’s something you have to try if you’re in Cincy just for shits and giggles. But skip the jalapeños or it will be more the former. ;)

I’ve been eating at this restaurant since I was a small child. This place hasn’t changed in years and is great for that reason,(other than the awesome food)!! The staff is always nice and get the food out as quickly as possible to folks. Some of the people that come in here on a Friday night are fun to watch in here too.

Good food and a very nice staff. Clean restaurant with fast service. A must try if you’re a fan of Cincinnati style chili, though the portions are smaller than the other restaurants.

It always annoys me when people come to Newport and just rip on everything. Yes, Newport is a work in progress, but it has come a long, long way. But the truth is that this is a cool a** historic town with a really great base. And Dixie Chili is a staple of this town. Walking in the doors is somewhat like walking back in time. It is nothing fancy but it certainly brings great history along with a good meal. So I wish people would just stop saying how«not fancy» Monmouth Street is and really appreciate what it has to offer. If people want to be pretentious, there is this lovely town called Hyde Park that would love to service the obnoxious attitude. But if you want to experience a walk back in time, see some amazing mid to late 1800s homes and store fronts, and eat at some down-to-earth diners, welcome to Newport. We’ve been living in the historic district of Newport for a few years now and have had plenty of opportunity to check out all the diners, restaurants, and bars in the area. Obviously Cincinnati chili is «the thing» in this area. In my opinion, it is an acquired taste, and it took me about a year to actually like it. But whether you’re looking for some Cincinnati chili or perhaps a healthier alternative, Dixie Chili is a place to consider. Dixie Chili is a cafeteria-style diner, and I am always amazed at the selection. I love that it can accommodate whatever foodie mood I’m in. While Skyline primarily offers its chili and only its chili, Dixie Chili also has several different sandwich, salad, nacho, gyro, and dessert options. PLUS, I looooove that I can get garlic in a 6-way and add jalapenos to my coney. Everything is quite fresh, and I always walk away satisfied. So try to set aside the negative commentary and come to Newport with an open mind. Our neighborhood has a lot to offer so we hope you enjoy it.

This is the best Cincinnati style chili you can get! Thicker and much more flavorful than Skyline or Gold Star. Once I found this gem, I don’t eat at any of «the others» sort-of cafeteria style serving is a bit of a twist, and fast service. The smell hits you when you walk in the door with all those wonderful spices. MAN. I’m getting hungry thinking about it. I can’t say enough about this place.
