I love this place. The owners are super nice and sweet. I gave them their tip jar, and every time I come in, they give me a little discount. Their shave ice reminds me of living back in Hawaii.

I don’t understand the reviews on here with this place. I saw the cook place frozen chicken from the bag in the deep fryer. Perhaps it once was a nice place with freash chicken but not anymore.

Reasonably priced, tasty and something different from clam chowder for a quick lunch. didn’t try the sheave ice but looks yummy! We had garlic partisan and lemon pepper wings, both moist and delicious

Just like Hawaii, huh? It’s not even close to being a snocone. A frappuccino and a slurpee have closer consistency to Hawaii shave ice than this. This is a plastic cup of ice chunks and and syrup. There’s not even ice cream in it, which is advertised. Also, the sign specifically states it’s $ 3.00 for small, and we got two and our total was $ 9.00. We tried it and decided it tasted like crushed ice from a soda fountain mixed with koolaid. Big miss.

My husband and I love stopping in for lunch. The family who owns the restaurant are friendly and invested in bringing fun, delicious food to locals and tourists. They always serve great food no matter what you order. It’s worth the stop.

We had garlic Parmesan and sweet bbq wings, potato wedges and chips(fried thin potato). It was made to order and tasted good. We also had a rainbow shaved ice. The wings weren’t the best I’ve had, but they were pretty good. I’d like to try something spicier next time.

This is the perfect beach picnic stop! Right on the SW corner of Highway 101 and Olive(OR Hwy 20). They are on the way to the Nye Beach area, or the Lighthouse park and lookout at the Bay Bridge. Walking distance from just about every hotel in town… It’s a cute little ice-cream-parlor-sized shop — just a few tables and stools — but the food is excellent and plentiful. Neither our boneless wings(chicken strips in wing sauce) or bone-in wings were greasy, and both were cooked hot to order. We didn’t try the nuggets, or any of the sandwiches/wraps, but almost took them up on their daily special of fish-n-chips.(Maybe next time). I could only have loved it more if it had been actual plump strips of un-chopped breast meat instead of the chopped and formed commercial strips — but it was good chopped chicken, so I“m satisfied. It might be nice if they offered both. Next time I’ll just go with the natural, bone-in wings. Wide variety of sauces including 4 levels of heat in the traditional wing sauce. Husband had teriyaki wings and they vanished fast — so it must have been as good as mine. Several varieties of BBQ, a honey-mustard, and a couple of other choices. Again — perhaps another time. I always go for a spicy Buffalo Wing sauce first, and it was good enough that I may not make it to the rest of the list. My favorite surprise was the crunchy and mild cole slaw — I’m a real slaw lover, so they got me. It was as beautiful and fresh as it was tasty. I’m also a big fan of the included carrot and celery sticks with ranch(or blue cheese.) It’s nice to have an included side that’s something other than fried potatoes!(yes, they do make chips and wedges, And beans.) The chicken/side/drink specials are enough of a savings to make them really count as «specials» — always a good sign. Can’t wait for summer! This really is a wonderful little stop for a day out, and I’m guessing the Shaved Ice treats are a hit with summer beach folks. Looking forward to trying some of the other variety choices on the menu! So glad to have a decent wing and chicken place in this area!

We like coming here for lunch or dinner. The kids like it, too. The shave ice is a favorite of the kids — a bit messy in the awkward container — we always as for a cup instead and they always help out with the request. Buffalo wings are good with a bunch of flavors. Get the wedges done extra crispy. Haven’t found anywhere else in town that does fried okra. It is previously frozen and not fresh but that is OK — gotta get that okra. Blue cheese dressing is only OK. I think that they have changed brands — when they first opened the blue cheese was awesome; not just so-so. I get the ranch dressing instead. I have actually been guilty of bringing my own blue cheese dressing. Check them out. Nice folks working there. Can be a bit slow on the service if they get a crowd in there.

This place is the definition of a dive. A restaurant that’s been constructed out of the remains of an old retail space inside a nondescript strip small. Lacking in style or aesthetics and built with a utilitarian approach to its mission, Flip’n Chick’n has a menu that goes deep on wings but gets schizophrenic with the addition of things like quesadilla and shaved ice. This doesn’t really matter I suppose. At least not when their wings are so good. And they offer a multiude of options for bone-in or boneless, a variety of sauces, and sizes from individual servings to «pig out.» It’s like a Buffalo Wild Wings with good food and none of the aesthetics. Funny enough, it was the Shaved Ice that brought us in here. Which was fine, though not nearly as good as real Hawaiian shaved ice. But it’s the wings that will bring you back. So go and eat with confidence. But I suggest take out since eating here would be depressing.

O.M.G. So good! This is how wings should be. People don’t know what they are saying, THEYAREN’T BREADED! They are fried, skin on. This place is the best kept secret in Newport. I had the sweet chili wings and chicken quesadilla. The wings are fried skin-on no breading so they are legit. The chicken quesadilla had roasted onions and jalapeños. Fresh and delicious. Family owned and operated. Nice people.

Bummer, their wings have been great in the past, especially the garlic parmesan ones. Today we had garlic parmesan wings and wedge fries. The wings had great flavor but were NOT crisp, at all, and were very greasy. We noticed today that none of the usual people were cooking, and the fryer was crowded. Hopefully, they return to cooking them well.

While visiting from Salt Lake City we have eaten a lot of excellent seafood but were in the mood for some chicken. This fine establishment beckoned at our call from afar. I ordered 10 boneless chicken tenders, five with beaver sauce, five with garlic Parmesan on. The garlic Parmesan was absolutely amazing! They call it a dry rub yet it was still moist and flavorful. The beaver sauce was a mild and sweet barbecue sauce that was packed with flavor. The chicken overall was moist and tender and didn’t have any chewy spots in it whatsoever. I ordered a large piña colada shaved ice with sweetened condensed milk poured over the top. When she brought it out to us my friends and I started laughing because it was massive! We asked for two extra spoons and all three of us started engorging ourselves on shaved ice. Wow! It had lots of flavor and the condensed milk made it extra special. If I could do it over again I would probably order the wings on the bone just to see how they are prepared. I will definitely come back here on a visit next September. We had a great experience.

We just relocated to Newport from Reno, NV where we had a favorite dive for chicken wings. They were breaded and are what we use to measure all chicken wings. Knowing that, it is probably understandable why this wasn’t our fave — they don’t have any breaded options. The hubby and I would come back weekly if they add breaded to their menu. By all means, please let me know if this becomes an option :) The bone-in garlic parmesean wings were a complete disappointment… while they were juicy, they were boring. I won’t order them again. We prefer the blobs of garlic parmesean on top, but got a bit of a dusting instead. The Garlic Buffalo wings were definitely more flavorful and is the reason we might come back. The homemade chips were«kinda okay»(quoting the hubby). Wedges were yummy.

A little piece of Hawaii on the Oregon coast. A must stop if your in the area. Shave ice uses the Matsumoto syrup, so good!

I was visiting the Oregon coast with my family and we stumbled across this little restaurant next to the dollar store. On our last day, before our long drive back to Seattle, we decided to give it a try. Being from Hawaii I am pretty particular with my shave ice. They actually order their syrups from the very popular Matsumoto’s Shave Ice on the island of Oahu. For those of you who are like me, who want very fine ice(like Waiola Shave Ice) THISISIT. :) I was very pleased with their flavor selection, but most of all I was impressed with how fine their ice was. Which, in my opinion, really makes the shave ice great. We also ordered ten pieces of the lemon pepper bone in wings and they were DELICIOUS. I personally don’t even like chicken, so that’s saying something. I would definitely recommend giving this place a try. Even if you’re not into shave ice, the wings were great as well!

Excellent hot wings and bbq wings. Chicken sandwich was huge and amazing. Chili dog was really good. Fantastic cheese burger. Tasty food. Its a small resteraunt. Its a little deceptive when you pull up but don’t leave or you will miss out.

This was awesome and very reasonable. The boneless wings are biggest I’ve ever seen. We will be back when we visit Newport again. If you love wings this is the place!

Newport isn’t a very well-lit town. In fact, I’m not even sure if the size of its indigenous population would consider it a «town». The closest useable airport is 2 – 3 hours away. There’s no actual FedEx office. The sea lions generate more ambient noise then the car traffic. And what traffic? The most dangerous road hazards are the hitchhikers and the drifters on the shoulder with their horses. These wasn’t the best chicken wings that I’ve ever had, but given the area, they’re great. The prices are good. The staff is friendly. The food is made to order, so call in, if you don’t wanna wait around. I would highly rate and recommend. I would go here again. I would, in a heart beat, trade this place for a more logical airport setup.
