Let me start off by saying I usually never say this. But in all honesty, one of the not so good restaurants in town. Overpriced, mediocre food, and their sushi night is truly pathetic. I give every restaurant at least two tries, disappointed for different reasons each time. Despite its location on the water, I will not return.

How anyone could not give Le Belvedere five stars amazes me. My wife had duck, I had seafood brochettes. Awesome! If you are within a hundred miles of Newport, Vermont you owe it to yourself to try this place. Come for the lakefront view, stay for the scrumptious repast.

This was our 7th meal at Le Belvedere, and it was very disappointing. In the past, the meals have been moderately pricey but creative and excellently prepared. Given the setting and quality in the past, we have been willing to put up with the insufficient number of wait staff and sometimes agonizingly slow service. This time although the wait staff did their best to serve us, given the continued lack of staff, the 4 dinners were, at best, mediocre. Each of our entrees arrived lukewarm and with sauces that were neither well matched nor well prepared. Grey, medium rare duck breasts overmatched by bleueberry sauce, scallops in a overly ambitious curry, pork in a not-so-subtle barbecue sauce, and lukewarm pork loin, most served with mysterious fried rice balls and some skimpy mixed vegetables. There must be a new chef experimenting with ill-matched ingredients and s lack of attention to assuring the meal is served fresh from the kitchen. VERYDISAPPOINTINGANDAT $ 200 way overpriced!!!

Service slow… food was on par with Applebee’s …all four entrees were barely warm when they arrived… not worth the price ATALL… stay away. The view does NOT make up for the the over-priced, cold, bland food

Went here with no moms and no kids on mother’s day with Mike. We came at the end of the mother’s day brunch buffet which included a nice chocolate fountain. They had nice leather chairs around their circular tables. We came for drinks and apps though. Our lovely bartender was very nice and poured us some of their signature in some very fancy glasses. Mike was convinced he was on a boat as we looked out the large picture Windows over the lake. We had duck poutine and blue cheese stuffed olives and mushrooms. Very nice place, excellent food, beautiful stained glass, and the bar tender will gladly give you the WiFi password.

I called and made a reservation earlier in the week for 2 on a Friday night of the holiday weekend. We hadn’t been there yet and the guy on the phone explained they had lounge sheeting or the more formal tablecloth seating. I said that the lounge sounds fine but could I request a seat by the windows. When we arrived there was our table(so I thought) but the waitress said that was already reserved and sat us in another seat not by the windows. No big deal, I brushed that off. They have large picture windows so we could still easily see the lake. Sadly, that reserved table stayed unused the whole time we were there plus additional tables cleared within 10 minutes so not sure why we weren’t sat there… Ok — our waitress came over and took our drink order. They while we waited typically this would be the time you would review a menu, only we hadn’t gotten them yet. When she brought our drinks she also mentioned she would bring some menus… score…until the awkward waiting period to get out menus continued… I was on a date night with my B.C. so the small talk wasn’t terrible but I just wanted to see what I could eat! Finally we got them and this was the only service issue we had. In fact the service from here on out was great! Sadly the food wasn’t. Its wasn’t bad but it wasn’t great… I had the special salad, heirloom tomato with mozzarella and basil(I know there is a fancy Italian word that starts with a c but auto correct isn’t finding it) This missed the mark with under ripe tomatoes. My salad knife had issues cutting through it because the core was so hard. Enough said… onto the extreme homerun… Duck Poitine– Fries. Gravy. Cheese Curd. Duck. AMAZING Onto the main course… I had lamb and he had steak Both proteins were good. But sadly they looked the same for sides. Potatoes and what I can assume was frozen veggie medley… Liam beans and carrots? Seriously? It looked like something I would get from a cafeteria, not a side to a $ 32 steak! Sprinkling are a colors on the side of a plate does not a fancy meal make! Also I dislike when both meals have the same prefix sides. That makes me feel like the chef didn’t care about the whole meal. In summary — we will most likely be back(especially if the duck poitine is on special)& you can’t beat the view. Like I said, it wasn’t bad but it just wasn’t that good, we will probably just stick to drinks and apps next time though. PS I want to emphasize that our service was spot on after the whole menu delay!

Beautiful place, well appointed, nice atmosphere. The food… kinda meh. The casear was good, they charred the leaves a bit which gave a certain smokey flavor — that was good. The NY was funked up. The temp was what I asked for(Med.) but it had some funky onion jam on it that took off any char that was on the surface of the meat. On top of the onion was semi-melted bleu cheese. Now… don’t get me wrong, I love my bleu but this dish kinda screamed«we are trying too hard to be great cuisine.» It tasted fine, but, just didn’t hit the mark. Dessert was another meh. What sounded great, cinnamon ice cream, was just that, cinnamon and vanilla ice cream combined. Ordinarily, I love me some cinnamon, but in this case, there was SO much cinnamon, it was completely overpowering. Imagine just dumping a load of cinnamon on ice cream and that was the final. i’ll try again next time up, but, I think Lago or another joint is in my future. Ya feel me?

Great service, awesome food! This place has a nice atmosphere and comfortable seating. The food was fresh and we were pleasantly surprised at how great everything was, fantastic Ahi Tuna!

Very pricey, beautiful view of the water and good service but for the price I expected very good food and was VERY disappointed. The fondue was very plain and dull, the veal Parmesan was over cooked, and the portions were rather small for the price.

We heard this restaurant was opening in place of the Boat House Grill on the Waterfront in Newport. We thought it would be nice to check out the new restaurant and it was worth the money. Definitely pricey, but affordable for the type of restaurant it is(fine-cuisine, nice linens, table service, etc.) The ambiance is very romantic, but could also be good for a large party or gathering. There is a traditional dining room and also a lounge with a full bar. The waitstaff was very friendly, and would happily accommodate someone coming in for a glass of wine and some appetizers. No pressure to order a ton of food if you are on a budget, but the food was certainly delicious! As of today, we couldn’t find a website or even phone number listed online. So we’ve provided it here for others to find this wonderful new spot!
