Because we live here on the coast, we’ve had time to try many of the traditional American-Chinese food places on this 45-miles stretch of highway. And while all we’ve tried pass our most crucial test(no MSG! — bad allergy!!!) — they all also have one other commonality — they all taste and appear to have come from the same original cook’s training ground. Veggies here are plentiful, but strain the limits toward being overcooked. Seasoning is somewhat bland. «Egg rolls» appear to be battered and/or double fried, which makes them slightly greasy and bread-y tasting,(and contribute to the over-cooked-ness of the veggies) — and many of the dishes share a very similar seasoning profile. I will say that when I’m really hungry for beef and broccoli, or a nice taste of fried rice, if it doesn’t hit the *exact* spot — it comes very close. Certainly close enough to keep me from driving an hour inland in search of egg drop soup. It looks like at least a part of the draw here has to do with lottery or other game traffic. So if that’s your thing — it may turn this from casual lunch into a must-stop kind of place at the beach. They also do to-go orders — always important in a coast spot!

I have been going to this family resteraunt since it was known as ChinaTown on the south end of Newport in 1984. I love this family, their food and their non-smothering attitude. Nothing worse than being bothered when you try to eat an have conversation with a friend. But they are there if you need anything. Their prices are very cheap and their food is very fresh. I miss them when they close for their yearly trip to the home country, but they always bring back neat stuff and new recipes also ydeserve the break.

The food was cold for what we paid for. It took a while to get service and the front desk lady would rather check her voice mail than help us. We will not be going there again.

I ordered Pork/Combo Fried Rice, Curry/Szechwan/Orange/General Tso’s Chicken and lastly Chicken Lo Mein. I messed up the General Tso’s by saying to stir fry it, but it still tasted great. All the food was amazing, and my friends who recommended this place were spot on with this place. The Lee’s obviously care about the quality of the food they send out. Additionally, the food came out in less than 15 minutes which surprised me. I had place this order to go at the restaurant and waiting less than 15 minutes was phenomenal to me. Lastly the customer service; I came in with my nephew and rowdy 18 month old… the lady who took our order was prompt, courteous and took the time to talk to us between customers going to her. Will definitely eat here again on our next visit to a Newport, OR. (I did not eat in and can not comment on service of the waitresses, wait time while dining in or the atmosphere/cleanliness of the dining area.)

Great food! Great service! Sweet and sour chicken is a big serving of all white meat chicken. The fried rice is the best I’ve ever had! A must for any Chinese food lover!

I’ve never had a problem with the service or food. The portions are large, but all the better to share with the rest of the family :)

Not that good and they messed up our order. The best Chinese food in Oregon is at Kowloon restaurant in Roseburg Oregon.

Freshest vegetables. Great chicken. Love the fried shrimp appetizer or you can get them with dinner #2. Pot stickers are huge. Friends love the honey prawns. I like chicken and bok choy. They cater to any requests you have. Best Chinese restaurant in Newport, and there are several.

The menu offered everything you could ask for — not just«Chinese,» but several styles — Schewan, Hunan, Cantonese. The portions are HUGE! Enough for a second meal.

Just had our dinner there. it’s Christmas Day. Finally saw one restaurant open, though the rating was not high. Quite pleasantly surprised. The dinner was good. The restaurant was clean. Recommend stirfried beef with onions.

Really wanted to try this restaurant because of the great reviews but ended up leaving after standing at front desk for 10 minutes with no acknowledgement from 3 separate people. 1 woman clearly worked in the Lounge and went back and forth to kitchen twice, which is understandable. Second woman walked by us 3 separate times and said nothing. A man who we assumed was the owner who was wearing a sweater and slacks also walked by us standing there waiting 3 times and said nothing to us. As we were walking away the 2nd lady who originally walked by came up to the counter and asked the people behind us if they were waiting for a takeout order. We were dressed very clean and nice and felt very neglected. We understand if a place is busy but with no acknowledgement from 3 people… Even simply saying, «we’ll be right with you in a moment»… That’s unacceptable and they don’t deserve our money, no matter how good their food may or may not be. Disappointed.

This is my challenge to you. Tell me a place on the planet that has better Kung Pao Chicken. This is the best I have ever had! Not to mention am amazing bang for the buck. You can get several meals out of an order. I always get mine to go. Chicken with Broccoli is also tops. You have to hunt to find the broccoli because they give you so much chicken! YUM. I haven’t deviated too much from these two items because I know they are winners. One of my favorites on the central Oregon coast.

Lees is a good restaurant but has room for improvement. The value is fantastic! And the food was all well-made for all of our meals. The server we got didn’t give us much attention though and we stole silverware from another table, ordered a drink 1 minute before we left, and we saw a dog on the other side of the restaurant… pretty awkward! But overall not bad.

My wife and I, who are both Chinese, wanted to try some Chinese food in Newport. We were both here to frolic on the beach and enjoy the sun for the weekend. Given the reviews, we decided to try this place. We both think we know our Chinese pretty well, and we found this place to be fantastic! Ingredients were very fresh, flavor very authentic and the portions were enormous. If you are in the area and want great bang for the buck, look no further.

Hot and sour soup was the best I’ve ever had! Loved my veggie stir fry with special sauce(wasn’t on menu, but I asked if they could make it and they did, wonderfully.)

This place is a gem in Newport! You can’t find any other better Chinese restaurant than this place I tell you. This place is a family owned restaurant. So don’t be alarmed if the owner’s kid is serving you. They do an excellent job and is very professional for their age. Now let me break it down for you… Ambience: semi-loud; really good for large groups and kids; has a lot of tables and comfy booths available; good lighting; bright interior; and extremely clean environment. Doesn’t have that icky wet towel smell like most restaurants. Thank god! And u can fmake reservations for private parties. Food: Damn this place is good! Their portion size is huge! One plate can literally feed 2. and can I say CHEAP for the amt of food u get. Best of all u can request the chief to make it however you want. Like less sodium, no starch added, no peanuts, less sugar, etc. Some of my favorites are: crab cream cheese wonton(aka crab rangoon), honey walnut shrimp, BBQ pork, sizzling rice soup, wonton soup, sesame chicken, szechuan green beans, lemon chicken, beef chow fun, pork low mein. ps… Lee’s also has a full bar service and gambling machines in the next room called the Bamboo Lounge. The bartenders are so sweet, can make anything you want, and they make the yummiest, strong drinks. Best of all, the lounge is non-smoking, can eat inside, drink, gamble, and watch TV.

Best Chinese retsaurant in Newport. Hands down! After a long night came in and was served very fast. Came in on a friday night. The waitresses are kind and quick. First we ordered the Wonton Soup. AMAZING! Delicious and perfectly spiced. Very good. Next was the Beef Potstickers. Probably the size of my fist, but nontheless very good. Crisp, tasty, and delicious. Then we had the Beef with Broccoli. Another top-notch dish. But the dish could feed all of Newport. But I dont care about the portion size. It could’ve been gigantic portions or the size of a dish at the French laundry and I still wouldve been satisfied. Lastly we ordered Chicken Pan-Fried Chow Mein. BESTDISHOFTHENIGHT!!! It had everything in an amazing meal. Delicious noodles! Anyways, the main idea is clear. It was amazing. I’ve never been disgusted and the waitresses are really nice. Job well done Lee’s Wok!
