Motel 6

Booking online was easy, the front desk staff when we checked in was warm and friendly, the bed comforters seemed clean and in good shape. Everything was fine, a no-​frills room for a good rate. But it was all ruined by the dirty bathroom. There was … stuff … on the toilet seat. The back of the toilet, the sink and countertop, and the tub all needed to be wiped. We got in exhausted and it was very late. We didn’t have it in us to trudge back down with all our stuff and ask for another room. I steeled myself, wiped down the tub, and took a shower. The tub filled with water during my shower, and the water level hadn’t gone down when we left in the morning. On the way out I told the front desk employee our bathroom was dirty and the tub backed up, and he just said, «OK.» No apology, no noting of the complaint. He didn’t seem to care.

Should have tried the Best Western across the street. Seems to be pet friendly, too, but offer real towels and chairs that don’t fall apart when you move them.
The wifi is decent, though. We were charged $ 63 total for me, my dad, and my dog to get a room with 2 full beds.

Motel 6, have never stayed at one before, but since we were travelling w a dog, decided to try it. Once is enough! The room was small, with no hair dryer, coffee maker, frig, microwave, breakfast or clock. There was one hand towel, not two, and the rest of the towels were ratty. There was no extra bedding, the furnace didn’t work well, and overall, was just a stripped-​down room. Never again. Pass this one by!

When traveling with a dog, there’s just no beating Motel 6. There’s no extra charge and they don’t hit you with an insane non-​refundable pet deposit. Motel 6 only charges for the dog as if it is another «person» so for myself, my wife and doggie, we’re at $ 63 including tax!
This is a really nice Motel 6 — with interior hallways and friendly staff. The bathroom is clean and comfortable. The bed is the right combination of soft and firm. The room is a little stripped — no pictures and no drawers, but does it really matter? They’re hitting the sweet spot of low cost with comfortable.
If I’m passing through Newport TN, I’m staying here again!
