This place is such a cool find in Newport. There are a bunch of different guitars, including Martins, here. If you do end up deciding that a Martin will become a part of your family, Nicky will throw in a case as well, gratis. It’s supposed to come with the guitar, actually, but I guess a lot of big box music stores don’t do that. Good to know. Nicky’s has some really interesting amps as well, along with a nice collection of sheet music/books, straps, etc. Nicky himself is from Providence and has learned all about Newport by soaking it up like a sponge! He told us some interesting history about the city and Spring Street, including a fun fact – the storefronts were all rented out for the movie, Amistad. Also, Nicky’s itself used to be a tavern that George Washington himself frequented. There is so much history in Newport, just on Spring Street alone! I’d definitely recommend a look through the store, and if you’re in the market for a guitar, I think it’s worth it to get it here. Friendly service, cool store, and awesome guitars and equipment. Score, score, score.
