My wife and I needed to stay at a pet-friendly hotel in Newport. We were lucky to find Pepin’s Motel. While the Pepin’s does not offer new, standard motel rooms, it does offer clean rooms with delightful whimsical touches. My wife was pleased with her pet-friendly room which included striped wallpaper, bird plaques on the wall, and a whimsical teapot lamp base. I had a simpler room but one with interesting touches as well. The person who single-handedly runs the motel, Elizabeth, is a kind and charming person. When it became clear we wouldn’t arrive until very late at night, she made sure we didn’t arrive to find ourselves stranded. Pepin’s does not provide any meal service; they don’t need to. There is a McDonalds directly across the street as well as one of those fully-stocked gas station mini-stores Vermont is famous for. Despite Pepin’s being a small no-frills place to spend the night, we enjoyed our two-night stay.
