The Service at Planet Pet is better than at any other pet store that I have been to. When going to other stores no employees even bother to look at you. When going into this store you are greeted and every employee makes sure to ask if you need assistance. The selection is quite large for a small store and the prices are not high. They have a lot of brands of food that are not seen at other stores.
The animals seem to be well cared for, all of them have large enclosures that are clean and that have hides for them to go into if stressed or tired. Unlike in other pet stores, the animals seem to enjoy interacting with people and you can see that it is because the employees put time into handling them and caring for them.
All of the employees seem to be knowledgable about the animals and products that they are selling. You can tell that everyone who works there cares as much about your pet as you do. They make you feel like a person instead of just another sale. I would absolutely shop here instead of petsmart.

I really like this pet store because it’s low-​key and carries good products– specifically tropiclean, which is amazing all the way around. They also have a good selection of «slow bowls» for dogs who eat too quickly. I also found that their pharmacy first aid section for dogs was exceptionally well stocked– liquid bandaid, you name it, they have it.

I prefer to go here rather than petsmart for a couple reasons, one of which being I like to support a small local business and the second being while they have no way to match the selection of petsmart they do have some specialty items petsmart doesn’t (buster Balls and Elk Antlers come to mind) They also have a special program if you purchase Blue Buffalo where every tenth bag is free so that is a little plus (I buy the biggest ones).
Not sure where other commentors are saying that the staff is rude. Maybe because they are generally young kids but they are always very helpful. They can be a little less than «professional» chatting amongst themselves and with clients while you check out but I’m not a big baby that needs to feel like some kind of special snowflake.
The prices do run a little high, but not outlandishly or even that significantly. Maybe it’s just the things I buy are more competitively priced. I’m told they have a lower price than petsmart or Blue Buffalo but I haven’t verified that.
I like going here, I would recommend them to people in the area.
Oh, and bulk marrowbone and other treats. I can get a big old bag of some generic marrowbones and my dog loves them.

I’ve been in and out of this store for a few years now. I bought a Starts and Stripes puffer for my saltwater tank a few weeks back. The fish was really healthy and still is for that matter. I have to complaints though, first being when asked the girl to add some extra water in the bag because I drip acclimate. When I got home I crossed the salinity. The one from the store was really low, the girl added fresh water. Secondly, I have stopped in to check inventory and nothing new and the sales tag from my puffer was still on display, almost four weeks later. I asked and was informed they only get new saltwater fish every 3 weeks.
Other than the inventory coming in slow and the girl adding freshwater to my sw bag I like the store. I can correct the water problem on my next purchase.

Went to this place several times before pet smart opened up. We have fish and dogs. while they have quality fish. prices on food, treats, things are wayyyyy expensive.

I went to the new Petsmart that just opened first. I wanted to buy some new fish to accompany my current fish. I walked into Petsmart and no one greeted me. I stood by the tanks for 15 minutes and no one greeted me or asked if I needed anything. Horrible service. I decided to try Planet Pet instead.
As soon as I walked into Planet Pet, I was greeted by a staffmember. While I was browsing the fish, they asked me if I needed any information or help with anything. Of course, I was more than happy to spend my money there just based on the customer service. BUT THAT’S NOT ALL! The saltwater selection they have is amazing! A beautiful variety of fish and corals. Breathtaking. I could have spent hours in there just watching the different animals they have. And you can tell that every single animal in there is very well taken care of. I will definitely be doing all of my pet shopping here from now on. You can tell that this is a passion for them and not just a job.

If I could give no stars I would. Don’t shop here. Period. All of their stuff breaks, and don’t count on them returning anything. Worst customer service I have ever seem in a pet store, over priced, chabby items.

This is a great neighborhood pet store. Staff is super friendly and knowledgeable.

Helpful, knowledgeable, clean, and well-​stocked with stuff for a variety of pet species. There’s not much more one can ask for from a pet store, but we found it. One of their employees happens to be an outdoor pond specialist who talked us through how we should do about our really-​green pond and didn’t push us to hire him to clean it. When we asked if we could hire him to clean it for us, he gave us a great rate. Great, great.

I really liked this pet store. They didn’t have anything overly special however the fish tanks were very well maintained. Very clean store where you could tell they respected their product. If you’re in the northern ky area stop in, you’ll appreciate it.
