Delicious sushi! Went here while visiting for a birthday dinner, and it didn’t disappoint. Really cool atmosphere right on the water, with an awesome and expansive menu. Favorite roll by a long shot: the Mexican! Still craving more of it.

I came here with my sister Christine and we ordered our fav UNISUSHI and a few other choice items Woohoo! I was very happy with the staff being very warm and helpful. The servings were ample and fresh. I Enjoyed sitting outside watching the people enjoy the day at the Port, as i savored the delectable flavors of Japanese cuisine. I found it to be a great place to eat and enjoy an nice day with great company. Check it out !

Great sushi! Came here during a family vacation. Decided to try a couple of the sushi rolls, and I am so glad I did. It was like an orgasm in my mouth! Definitely comparable to what I’d get back home in Seattle. My boyfriend and I ordered the Ninja roll, Tommy roll(asked for it tempura style), New York roll and the Smoky Alaska roll. The Tommy roll, shrimp and crab, was my absolute favorite. My boyfriend was partial to the Smoky Alaska that had salmon. The other family members ordered udon noodles and some soup thing, but I honestly didn’t pay attention. I was in my sushi heaven. They said they enjoyed whatever it was they got. :) If you’re in the area, and like good sushi, check this place out. The service was great and the food was good and reasonably priced. No complaints here!

OMG! Second time I’ve had the pleasure of eating here… and they are batting 1000%!! The selections outrageous, and they don’t miss the mark with the presentation or skill in the combination of flavors provided in one bite! ROLLS!: the critic, smokey Alaskan, Black Forest, dragon slayer, crunchy lobster… ALLTODIEFOR!!! It really doesn’t get better than this… I thought my little secret in Seattle was«the place», but Sada’s blows them out of the water! No disrespect Chiso! I will be back and will be hungry for more!

It saddens me to write this review as we’ve been there in years prior and we always eat here for the amazing sushi & service. The only thing I can think of is maybe management or ownership changed? We arrived a party of 4 for early dinner, there was only one other table there. Service was very slow, even to get water despite the girl pouring water at the table next to us, if we hadn’t asked her she wouldn’t have turned around. Our server was polite but very slow in service, we never got refills on our drinks. When I ordered a baked California roll, similar to the lobster roll that has a little mayo mixture on top, what I got back was a roll that was dried out due to them placing in the oven, no mayo topping. When I asked about it, the response was we don’t have that. I wondered why not ask me for clarification then when you saw it on our order list. Our food took forever, like 45 minutes to get despite the other few tables that had trickled in about the same size getting theirs first. The sushi was very mediocre, not the fabulous fresh seafood we had experienced many times before. The servers were too busy talking at the front of the restaurant to notice our drinks were empty, never checked to see if we wanted anything else like more rolls or dessert and we had to stand up and walk to the front to get our check, that’s how bad the service was. I was embarrassed to have recommended this place to our friends even though it wasn’t our fault. Our expensive bill just reiterated we paid for something not worthwhile and we wondered if the boss wasn’t in that day or if indeed it is new people running the place. Extremely disappointing experience. We will not be back. Looks like we will have to go to the Lincoln City sushi place to try and get the sushi we were expecting.

We highly recommend getting their bentos. For $ 16 you’re getting a full rounded meal including miso soup, salad, gyozas and choice of two entrees and a dessert. I had the teriyaki chicken skewers, tempura and chose the fruit yogurt parfair for dessert while my husband had their sishimi instead of the tempura. There is an artistry to their food that you won’t find other places. We would love to come back and try their rolls because they all look and sound amazing(though you are paying around $ 10 per roll) and there’s a huge selection. Great food and you know there’s a great chef behind it all. Great service too. They are attentive and prompt and very welcoming.

What a great sushi place! I have had sushi a thousand times, but never with fish this FRESH!!! You don’t know what you’re missing until you try it. Example is the Nigiri Salmon. Completely melt in your mouth when it’s this fresh!!! We enjoyed the Miso, California roll, and amazing seafood tempura! We also had 2 oyster shooters on the recommendation of another Unilocal.WOW!!! They are AWESOME!!! You will not be disappointed. Fabulous service! Waited no more than 15 minutes for our made-to-order food. Located under the same roof as Ripley’s in Newport. It is the establishment to the left of the Ripley’s entrance.

Very good sushi. The spider roll was my favorite! The Newport roll was good too. I ordered soup and after I put the order in the waitress came out with complimentary soup and salad. Wish I’d known, I wouldn’t have ordered the soup, just broth and very thick noodles.

I went here tonight and was not disappointed. I should note that there was only one other table filled when I went to dinner so I did not have a problem with service as other people have noted. I was seated prompty, order taken and food arrived all in a timely fashion. I ordered a soup, green tea, appetizer and two rolls. It was all delicious. The Kaki Shooters were amazing! I love oysters and the added sauce and spice made these oysters so much better — if I knew they were so good I would have ordered 12 of them and not the rolls — they were that good! The rolls were also tasty, but not terribly innovative. Everything tasted fresh and I may just have to go back again to get me more of those oysters if nothing else.

Came here for a romantic date, all dressed up, but it was too cold to take off my wrap. Not sure why a cold breeze was blowing through the place on a winter’s night! The lanterns are nice, though, and lend a romantic air to the place, even if the view of the bay front doesn’t. Our waiter was attentive enough and answered our questions. We settled on a sake sampler to share and the grilled oysters with garlic and soy sauce. The oysters were delicious! Gorgeous presentation and generous portions. The sake was nice too but as they were chilled, only made us colder. Next we ordered two rolls and some sashimi. The sashimi is twice as expensive as the sushi, so I’m hoping they serve twice as much fish as the price differential is usually less. I thought the sashimi selection was pretty scant and there were no specials — on a Saturday night! Granted this was the weekend of the Wine & Seafood Festival so I’ll chalk it up to that. The Oregon Roll, which I’ve never had before, was pretty fantastic! Salmon, fried salmon skin and salmon roe. I could have eaten another one of these. The Spider Roll was also quite good and they were both good sized. The prawn sashimi didn’t seem like much, cold, pre-prepared and not raw. I’ve had prawn sashimi that I saw alive only moments before and it was amazing. After finishing, we wanted to order a bit more but the festival crowd had just arrived and the place filled up. We couldn’t get our waiter’s attention for a good five minutes or more so we just went to the counter and paid. My first sushi in the area so I have to compare it to experiences in other areas. Good but I wasn’t knocked out by the overall experience.

Sada’s serves up some of the best sushi in the state, in terms of fresh seafood quality, flavor profiles and execution. The ambiance and service are not the strong points of this establishment. It’s been a couple of months since I’ve visited, but I’ve found this assessment to be accurate among several visits. Take advantage of the daily sushi specials which offer a variety of seafood prepared or presented in unique ways. The menu doesn’t go into much detail, which is a shame, because I’ve tried some simple-sounding appetizers that have rocked my world-the oysters on the half shell, albacore tataki, and octopus that was in a rich and creamy sauce. Their sushi is wonderful. Skip the hot entrees and stick with the raw stuff. Rolls are traditional in size and presentation, but modernized by the finishing sauces or certain flavors. There is no excess of avocado or cream cheese, I am happy to report. The rolls are packed tightly and the rice is really good. Personal recommendations are the albacore tuna, geoduck, kiska roll, and salmon. Bottom line: best sushi on the Oregon coast and therefore worth a trip.

We stopped by Sada’s Sushi Bar for lunch while visiting Newport. This is the only sushi place on the whole harbor. Something different than the other seafood restaurants on the strip. Ordered the chef’s special bento lunch and some sushi. The bento box came with two chicken yakitori(dark meat), veggie tempura, and a california roll. The bento box was average except for the california roll. I never order cali rolls on its own but since it came with the bento I ate it. It was a pleasent suprise only because they used real crab meat. Completely different than those imitation crab sticks most places use. We also ordered Bluefin Tuna, Albacore Tuna(in season), and Salmon Nigiri Sushi. All the fish was fresh and melted in your mouth. The cooked food was average. It’s the raw food that was the highlight of this place thanks to it’s access to fresh fish. The restaurant itself is small and nothing flashy. Service was good and staff knew their food. Good sushi at a decent price. «Seafood from across the street is always a good thing. Muy Bueno!»

Located right on the Harbor and the only Sushi option in Newport, Sada’s is a nice alternative to many of the Crab, Fish & Chips and Chowder options on SW Bay. Reasonably priced the sushi here is extremely solid. The Toro and Salmon pieces were cut a little thicker than I tend to like but the quality of fish was top notch. The stand outs were the NY Roll with spicy tuna(a special) and Kiska Roll. Yakisoba and Tempura were also really good. Service was OK, Not as bad as some had indicated on Unilocal, but not amazing. Still if you are looking for solid sushi in Newport, Sada’s your place/

Sada’s is located down in Newport’s historic old pier. We sometimes drop by the area to pick up fresh crabs, or get a bite to eat. While the location is a tourist trap, and the service is from hunger, the sushi is really very good. I personally like nice boring sushi — you know; a big hunk of «melt in your mouth» Hamachi on a delicately molded pug of rice. Some people like little paper umbrellas, or pretty sauce deigns squired onto the plate prior to sushi placement. I’m a lowbrow. I don’t care about that stuff. We’ve been going here for several years, off and on, and the fish is consistently fresh. They slice the fish in generously, and the rice is always delicate, and flavorful. I give them four stars for that. They almost always have fresh Uni, and they make a great spider roll, and a wonderful salmon skin hand roll. The service is provided by young(teenish) girls who think people drop in to admire their hair. They have no concept of service — but I think that’s pretty universal. If the service were professional, I’d give them five stars.

Low rating is due to VERY poor service and VERY unaccommodating sushi chef. We asked for a custom roll to be made for us with smoked salmon on it. the chef said he can’t cut the smoked salmon to go on top of the roll. Seriously? I think he’d rather stay within the severe limitations of the menu, then venture out and make a customer happy. Not worth the two and a half hours it took from start to finish. Average sushi at best.

I would have given this 4 stars but the service was eh. that’s better than meh. but not by much. I mean I know we were between rushes as it was 1pm on a Monday but nonetheless. oh and we still left a good tip coz that’s how we sushi roll. ;) At any rate, it took a while for her to come and get our filled out sushi order, in fact we walked it up to the sushi guy. When she brought our plate over though. all the bad service in our minds disappeared. Wonderful presentation, good sized rolls and sushi cuts, and not to leave out the very most important part of sushi is FRESH!!! The sushi chef did a wonderful job! The décor is not so bad either and it’s down in the«historical» part of Newport by the pier and the sea lions.

Now don’t get me wrong, the sushi is decent, but I’m really surprised by the overall ratings this spot gets. There is absolutely nothing special about this sushi place(except perhaps it is the only sushi joint in Newport — at least according to Unilocal). In fact, their sushi menu is incredibly limited, with an abnormal amount of their offering containing crème cheese as an ingredient. One review stated this is their top pic in the Nation and I must implore them to broaden their horizons as the sushi opportunities awaiting them are far more expansive than they have obviously experienced thus far. A few more comments: Presentation: boring, which to me is such a waste when it comes to sushi, which can be such a work of artistry if the chef/establishment cares about the food they are serving. Service: scattered and slow, but definitely friendly. Atmosphere: cramped, loud and visually overwhelming with out any clear style or motif.
