My wife and I were in a rear ended car accident at a stop light on 101 in Newport(we were the ones that got rear ended.). I came out fine, but my wife had pretty bad whip lash when we were hit. The nearest hospital was Samaritan pacific community hospital in New port, a half mile down the road. We walked though the doors and checked in ourselves and gave the ladies at the front desk our info and the info from the police report the office gave us for insurance purposes so they had an idea of what happened. They took us to a room and put a Neck brace on my wife as protocol and jotted down some more of her info. The RN that first was with us was very professional and nice. We then waited for an hour or a little more for the doctor. During the duration of waiting for the doctor, my wife was having neck pains and back pains from our accident. I asked the nurse right outside if my wife could have some pain meds. The nurse replied with«Yeah, we’ll see.» Another 20 min went by. I asked again if my wife could have at least some Advil. The nurse replied with. «The doctor will be a few minutes». When the doctor came in he did his normal feel about and asked about any medications she was allergic too. After feeling her neck and back and watching her close her eyes and cringe in pain, he decided to do a CT scan. He still never offered pain meds. My wife being the sweet heart she is, asked the nurse in the room if she could get me some food(being we were on our way to eat when the accident happened). The nurse told me she didn’t keep much stocked on Sunday’s and she could maybe get me some crackers. It’s a damn hospital! They have food for patients! After my wife’s CT scan the doctor came back and told her that it was muscle bruising and pulled muscle from they whip lash and that the pain would get worse the next few days. He asked her 3 separate times if she had an addiction to pain killers, and every time she replied no. He also asked her multiple times if she was pregnant. Then proceeded to ask me why kind of car we were driving after I already told them at the front desk with police report in hand, as if to see if we were just need seekers. He finally told her he would give her something for the pain. It took them another hour or better to discharge us after I asked how much long and my wife finally had to get out of the bed and ask her self for a nurse to come discharge us. And after we were discharged, they never even gave her the pain meds the doctor promised. All in all. Horrible hospital. Completely worth driving 25 miles north to Lincoln city hospital.

This review is based on 1 past experience and 1 visit late last night regarding my wife. Both times, we visited the«Emergency» Department, but the staff just didn’t display any urgency. Registrar was nice enough, I just didn’t see a lot of «sync» or chemistry in the staff, and that’s damn important when people’s lives are at stake. As the visit wore on, the experience got better, but I was underwhelmed at the beginning of both visits.

I had a stroke last year and was taken to the ER. The immediate care was excellent. I was in hospital for almost a week, and cannot thank the nurses enough for their attention. They are better than nurses I’ve had in large city facilities. The doctors attending me were highly qualified, and thorough. For a community hospital they do need equipment upgrade, but do well working with what is available. Considering that this is the only coastal hospital in the area, I am very grateful to have been there. When I returned to California armed with the entire medical report, my doctors thought that staff did one hell of a good job!

All bad. Staff trying to kill ya. People not caring about the core factor of taking care of people more like. Lounge with bunch of angry drunks as you nurses and drs and they are pist for being there sober it’s like hey if getting drunk makes you a nicer better cool I’m at for it. But these guys try there hardest to make you feel like you don’t matter. Weather the meds they are giving you are working of if you are allergic to anything stay on top it they tried to give me a medicine that would have killed me. After I told em.
