This is our second time staying here. The inn is wonderful. clean, comfortable, near downtown with an amazing breakfast! I can’t say enough nice things about the inn or the owners! Such nice people!!!

We had a great stay at the Samuel Durfee House during a recent trip to Newport. Heather and Michael were extremely accommodating and made our stay easy. Our room, the Samuel Durfee room, was large and comfortable, and the bed was great. Breakfast every morning was huge and always delicious with a mix of homemade baked goods, fruit, and typically an egg dish. Add to that a very central location(with on property parking), easily in walking distance to all of the local restaurants, piers, and even some of the mansions, and this place was the perfect spot to stay. They are undergoing some renovations in the back of the property right now, but there was never any extra noise and this didn’t impact our stay in any way while we were there.

What can I say about Samuel Durfee… other than that it was an amazing B&B! Impeccable service and incredibly clean/well-maintained. Heather and Michael were awesome hosts… Michael cooks a homemade breakfast every morning and Heather bakes fresh bread(zucchini bread was my personal favorite) which was delicious. The house is quiet and peaceful… perfect spot to relax and read a book. They have coffee available at all hours in the sitting room downstairs and you are given your own keys to the house. Parking is free and available right on the property. The location is perfect– a block up from Thames Street… so just step out the door and down to the main street and enjoy shopping, bars and restaurants. Do not hesitate to book this spot for your next stay in Newport! You will not regret it!

Loved this inn… We stayed for three nights. The inn is quaint; Michael and Heather were wonderful hosts, very welcoming, accommodating; and helpful with ideas of things to do during the day. Our room was charmingly decorated, it was meticulously clean, very comfortable, has a bathroom with shower and we had our own deck, which was lovely to sit and relax in the evening after a full day of activities. Homemade breakfasts each morning were delicious. My favorite was the french toast. Fresh made coffee is available as early as 7am(which is a big plus for people like me). Coffee is available(K-cups) throughout the day and night. Snacks are placed in the living room each afternoon. The inn is close enough to Thames Street & Bowens Wharf where all the restaurants, shops and nightlife are located that we were able to leave our car and not have the hassle of looking for parking spaces in a very busy area. Yet it was far enough away from the hustle and bustle that we weren’t listening to the noise until the wee hours of the morning. The inn was peaceful and quiet and a provided a perfect(relaxation) vacation spot for us. I would definitely recommend the inn and hope to return next year.

My boyfriend and I could not have been happier with our stay here! Everything was perfect, from the unique rooms to the exceptionally welcoming hosts(Heather and Michael are awesome!) to the homemade breakfasts to the central location. Newport was beautiful, but I really think our stay here was what made it a perfect weekend.

My husband and I stayed here for our 10th wedding anniversary. The room was so comfortable, it was the perfect combination of cozy and romantic with modern amenities. We had a flat screen TV in out room and a beautiful deck out the side. The owners are so nice and the breakfasts were amazing. This B&B is in the perfect location. You can walk to all of the major attractions and restaurants and they have a very nice lot for your car. Ours didn’t move the entire weekend. I would absolutely stay here again on my next visit to Newport!
