I stopped in for a red velvet and chocolate cupcake. They both needed to thaw a bit unfortunately. I prefer places that do not refrigerate. The chocolate hostess was good. The red velvet cake part was fine but the frosting doesn’t taste like cream cheese, sadness. They do have a big selection of truffles and other things. Friendly staff. I will stop in again to try some other things.

Loved, loved, loved their cookies here ! My son and his fiancé got married in Newport on Labor Day Weekend.
They made it really easy to place an order. There desserts was everything I expected and more. I used them for a thank you for a rehearsal dinner. The cookies were AMAZING tasting. Thanks

Was in town for a day trip and was looking for a local place for an afternoon treat and this place came up highly recommended. We got cupcakes and chocolates that were so delicious. The owner, is so nice and personable.
When you walk into the shop your not over powered by the smell of chocolate, but rather a perfume that’s a blend of warm cookies and chocolate connections. It’s cheerfully lit and decorated.
I will make sure on our next visit we stop on.

This sweet shop is owned and managed by a wonderful couple who clearly take pride in their confection creations. I purchased cupcakes, cookies, truffles and chocolates for Valentine’s Day, and returned last Thursday for more cupcakes. The Classic Chocolate and Coconut cupcakes were fantastic, and my daughter loved the Hot Fudge version. If you haven’t visited yet, please do so soon and tell the owners that Vicki from TMS recommended that. Enjoy!

LOVE Newport Sweet Shoppe! One of our favorite shops in Newport and by far, the best darn cupcakes we’ve had (mmmm salted caramel…). The owners are super friendly and clearly very talented. We used this bakery for our wedding as well and were super pleased. Our guests raved about how amazing the cupcakes were (not a surprise to us!) and our cake was absolutely gorgeous. Look forward to our next trip so we can stop in again :)

HEAVEN! That’s the one word that popped into my head when I walked through the door to the Newport Sweet Shoppe and had sensory overload from the sights and smells!
The cupcakes all looked delicious. It’s too hard to choose just one.
They have really cute Newport themed chocolates and cookies and sweets. I bought 4 of their iced sugar cookies that were all cute Newport themed — a lighthouse, a lobster, an anchor, and a sailboat. I wanted to give it as a gift, so the wife of the owner put it together into a plastic box with stuffng and a ribbon — it was PERFECT and the gift recipient loved it!!!
The owner and his wife were so friendly and nice. It made me happy to give them my business. I was just sad that I couldn’t buy more stuff from him!
Friend bought the salted caramel chocolates and the chocolate covered espresso beans and was raving about them.

Bought chocolates here for a gift for a friend and naturally had to try a couple before I purchased a whole box for her. :) The man that owns the shop is really kind and friendly; he even gave my friend and I restaurant recommendations.
I recommend the salted caramel chocolates, so good. They also have vintage Twinkie pans and use them to make creative versions of the classic treat (think red velvet, peanut butter and chocolate, etc). So fun!

This is the best cupcake store EVER! Seriously, I have returned here many times to dig in to the deliciousness that this store provides.
First of all, the prices are way better value than what you would expect from Newport. I bought 4 truffles, 2 chocolates and a cupcake with a chocolate on top of it and it only cost $ 8! The chocolates and truffles were very smooth and tasty. I thought the box would last me the week and it didn’t even last a day in our house!
The man who I think is the owner is very polite. They also open year round, although they do close for random weeks here and there.
They have a few tables and chairs so you can enjoy a drink and treat in the store.
I told my husband I just wanted cupcakes from the Newport Sweet Shoppe for my birthday!

The Newport Sweet Shoppe was the very last place we visited in Newport before heading back to New York, and it sure was a sweet way to end our trip!
The place is absolutely adorable. It’s decorated so nicely, and there are beautiful cookies and chocolates everywhere.
I had the Boston Cream cupcake and it was really good, though it could have benefitted from a bit more filling. I didn’t eat all of the ganache, because it came a bit too rich after a while. My husband had the Salted Caramel and described it as «yummy.» We both felt the cupcakes were pretty light and a good size.
Service at the counter was polite and helpful.

Fabulous cupcakes! We tried 4 of them a couple of weeks ago — PB Cup, Black Forest, Boston Cream, and Red Velvet. My favorite was the Black Forest. When you walk in you’re hit with the mouth watering smell of freshly baked goodies. If you’re looking for a treat to improve your day this is the place to go.
