U.S. Bank

I have a cash rewards credit card through us bank. I recently received a phone call from the Monmouth street Newport location telling me about an opportunity to upgrade my card to the cash plus. The representative told me that it gives me maximum cash back, more rewards than my current card. I told her fine, go ahead and convert it.
She did NOT tell me it would be a hard inquiry on my credit report. This is the SECOND time US Bank has done a hard inquiry on my credit WITHOUT MY CONSENT. Had she told me this information, I would have declined the conversion. When I called back to speak with a manager, he was most unhelpful. He tried to tell me it was a soft inquiry and did not impact my credit, which is completely untrue as credit karma emailed me immediately with the change. I asked him to write to the credit department on my behalf to have the inquiry removed and he said, «Sorry. Your conversion was approved, so there’s nothing I can do.»
If this wasn’t my oldest open credit card account, I would just close out all of my US bank accounts and move to another bank. US bank keeps disappointing me time and time again. Go ahead and read my other review that I wrote for the Crescent Springs location.

This location is nice and in the quirky area in Newport where you will see everyone from the typical businessman to the woman in front of me with her Chihuahua and, lets just say «interesting» wardrobe choice. The tellers are friendly and a little chatty so that’s cool. Parking might be somewhat hard to find at times but a trip around the block should yield positive results. Save your pennies people :)
Oh, the ATM is located outside so it is easily accessed ²⁴⁄₇. It still uses envelopes (how quaint!) but those are dispensed during the deposit.

I happen to find myself in Newport quite a bit so like that there’s a full branch on Monmouth.
The staff is always very friendly and there’s actually very little foot traffic inside most of the time so you can get in and out very fast.
I’ve never had a problem here and the staff has always been courteous and helpful. The managers are also willing to field your questions and help you figure out any problems you may have.
My only gripe is that it’s pretty far south on Monmouth. I think they’d benefit by being closer to the river but there’s naught to be done about that.
