Order the steak burrito. It is the best. They only have bottled drinks but they still get 5 stars.

The Shrimp quesadillas are AMAZING. More like a taco with melted cheese than what you think of when you hear the word quesadilla. Not flat, plenty of perfectly cooked and seasoned shrimp, and the re-fried beans are home made and the best I’ve ever had. If you’re traveling up I40 on your way to I95, def stop in and grab a quick bite. Service is friendly and fast. So worth the little extra time. Diamond in the rough comes to mind for the location and exterior looks of the place, but the food is totally on par. Try the Taco Diablo if you like HOT.

Great food! Don’t let the exterior and lack of décor scare you away from this authentic Mexican food. The partitions were good and the service was quick. Especially good was the Carne Asada. Only down side was their lack of fountain drinks and tea. They only have bottled drinks.

So glad we took a chance and stopped. We wanted some basic authentic locals-type mex while driving from Wilmington to Raleigh and it fit the bill exactly. Authentic in that the tacos are almost all meat — delicately shredded(not a single questionable bit in the beef or the chicken) and quite plain. That’s what your salsa is for. The corn tortillas were flaky and tender — yum! Refried beans soupy and delicious. The rice refreshingly simple with no bits of veg. Highly recommend! Woman at counter says they have been there 17 years.

Worth the trip. Authentic Mexican-style tacos. Diablo, carne and pork… not to be missed. Beef tongue good, chicken taco was more American style. Much larger menu that just tacos. Friendly staff, but they don’t sell cerveza. Downtown location.
