I have always loved Drums(my favorite menu items being a poor girl tray and butter pecan shake) and am so sad to hear its last day open will be December 3 due to Hwy 16 being expanded. I definitely encourage everyone to visit in the short time available. This restaurant will be sorely missed.

So we were driving along Rt 16 from Hickory to Charlotte and saw no placed to eat. I pushed restaurant on POI on the GPS and it came up Drums Restaurant just up the road. Do yourself a favor. If ever you are nearby stop before planned improvements to NC16 take the restaurant out. Great REAL southern food. Veggies! Spotless inside. Clean clean clean.

Not a true«4 star restaurant,» but in the divey hole in the wall restaurant category, it measures up. Great sandwiches, generous portions, traditional southern style food(they serve livermush!). Not the place to go for healthy food by any stretch, but it’s still a good choice for this type of food. It would be an ideal«hangover» restaurant! LOL

I’m a sucker for little dive lunch joints in small towns. You expect good home cooked meals and friendly faces. I was driving through this beautiful town for work and when I saw Drumms it seemed like a perfect place to stop. The menu is massive, which to me is a red flag because it typically means«we do it all, but we don’t do anything well». I decided to play it safe and get the chicken nuggets, fries and hush puppies meal. I saw«personal pizza» for 1.99 and HAD to see it. So I added that onto my order as well. Total bill came to 7 and change. The friendly waitress brought the food out to me while I was sitting in their dining room that reminded me of my sketchy friend from high schools basement. The portions were huge. The pizza was a small Totinos frozen cheese pizza which I found hilarious. I’m not judging them on the pizza though. This is not a pizza place and they probably should remove that from the menu. Onto the meal… The chicken nuggets were dry and didn’t have much flavor. The fries were standard frozen crinkle cut fries from the grocery store. The hush puppies were by far the best part of the meal, but I fear they were purchased frozen as well. I wish I knew what their specialty was. I feel like I just ate food that you typically find in the back of your freezer some drunken Saturday night after coming home from the bars in college.

Love this place. Quick and easy, large menu, the poor boys are great, the hush puppies are great, and the milkshakes are also great.

An update on Drum’s: They now have what they call marinated slaw which is a vinegar based slaw for all you folks out there like me that hate mayo based slaw. Also, I don’t know how I forgot to mention this in my last review, but if you like chicken livers as I do, Drum’s has some the best I have ever had. Seasoned and fried to perfection, and not greasy at all. The eleven herbs and spices place has nothing on these here at Drum’s. Plus you get a huge order and I do mean HUGE order of chicken livers, with fries, slaw and hushpuppies for only $ 3.99! What a deal! They used to be a regular menu item, now they’re hit and miss, but the will post a sign on the door when they have them. So, if you stop at Drum’s, like chicken livers, and see the sign posted on the door, go for it!!! As per usual, the wife and I had a great meal last night, and with the large portions ended up taking some home all for about $ 14 which included our drinks. Can’t get much better than that! New hours are 10am-8:30pm Tuesday-Saturday
