All I can say is try the beef tongue tacos, they are AMAZING. A friend of mine got steak fajitas and it came out still sizzling with plenty of meat and a very nice amount of peppers. I recommend this place to everyone.

Small, quaint Mexican place that I drove by many times while conducting business in Newton, but never tried previously. We were starving, and the area isn’t exactly a culinary heaven. Decided to give it a try. Nice, clean space. We were the only diners around 9 p.m. on a weeknight. The pleasant older lady that ran the place was very nice and friendly, and spoke a little English. This added to the ambiance, and I got to attempt my terrible Spanish. The menu offers some fun translation faux pas, if you appreciate those kinds of things(I do). We got the chips and two salsas, one red and one green, to start. Both were decent enough. We ordered the chicken mole and I had enchiladas verde with rice and beans. Food was good, solid portions, and arrived freshly cooked within a few minutes. Overall a solid experience, inexpensive, and good homemade style Mexican food. Bring Your Own Booze.

Traveling for work I ended up being placed in Newton not being from the area I decided to go on Unilocal to see what would be a good dinner spot. When El Taco y La Torta came up I was super excited even more so when I seen they deliver. After a long drive to Newton I didn’t want to drive again. So after looking at the menu I call to place my order only to be told there was no delivery still I was undeterred and decided I would do carry out. I ordered the Torta de Milanesa and it was pretty good except very greasy. Normally this Mexican sandwich is accompanied with rice and beans however when I opened the container it had fries I was utterly confused. I also ordered a Agua de Piña and Batido de Fresa. The Agua had a horrid taste so I tried the Batido and it was even worse. At this point I didn’t even try the Flan. In all honesty if you have other options I would take my chances… I wouldn’t return here…

I love Mexican food. I’ll pick it over any other cuisine. I saw this place on Unilocal a few weeks ago and gave it a try. It was mediocre, but I had the feeling that we were there on an off night. So, finding ourselves in town again, we decided to give them another chance. They were still mediocre. Sigh. On the second visit, the server spoke hardly any English(i guess that actually added to the ambiance) and she didn’t understand what we wanted. I used my Spanish skills, which are not exactly considered fluent, too order. I ordered a pork burrito, With a side of beans, and a side of rice, pointing st the menu as I did so. What I got was a DEEPFRIED burrito(absolutely DRIPPING with hot oil) filed with rice and beans. I’m assuming the«meat» in the burrito was pork. She did get my diet coke correct. Let’s not even go into her meal… About the best I can say is that I was full when I left. And the meal did decide to keep me company most of the night too… There are not a lot of good places to eat in Newton, and this its probably better than average… but that’s not a rave…

This is authentic Mexican in downtown Newton. Food was excellent and very fresh. A little slow, but the service was very friendly and polite. Highly recommend a visit. Great value as well.

A must for good authentic mexican food. The beans are great as well as the tacos, chimichanga and platos. The staff is friendly and accommodating. The service is a bit slow but munch on the chips. It is worth the wait. I will be coming back. The prices are mid range and large size drinks are really large. You have to try it.

Let me just say I really wanted to love this place. We went in about noon so this is prime lunch time. They were dead. Just the staff. So I was like cool this should mean we have GREAT service. We did not. The waitress came took our orders and did not come back till our food was ready and after she brought the food she did not give or offer a refill. It was a pretty warm day when we went and we got waters and we only got a refill when we asked twice and she gave it to us as she was bringing the check. The food was good though. If the waitress had been just a bit more attentive this would have been a great visit. It’s just very sad to me when we were the only customers there she couldn’t even be bothered to bring us a refill with our meal especially on such a hot day.

Newton residents, and those passing through wanting to have a taste of authentic Mexican cooking, you Now have a place to go. Well positioned, just south of the main downtown area with ample parking in the rear. This truly mom and pop shop was assumed January of this year, and at once attempted to bring Mexican flavors to this little sleepy town. The menu consisting of expected dishes such as tacos, burritos and the like, also offers such items as Mariscos(Baja style seafood), Al Pastor, various Fajitas and steaks. The salsas are spicy enough for most gringos and the chips are made on the premises. The interior décor is nice and relaxing, if not typical with ample seating for even large parties. The best part of my meal was the authenticity with which the taquito were prepared, lots of flavor in every bite, and a great choices of styles and meats. The downer: No Alcohol is served on premises. So bring your case of your favorite Mexican beer and all of your buddies and Cash, because as most mom and pops, the don’t take checks or credit cards. Can you find better? if you’re willing to drive at least 1 hour away, yes. jmho. ps. I would actually give 3.5 stars but the app doesn’t allow half stars. For lack of alcohol, and the Mexican rice is not as flavorful as I would prefer.

We stopped in for dinner an were informed that Chili Rellenps were on the menu that night, That is my all time favorite and homemade. most places put a pile of what ever on a plate and cover it with a pepper cut in half and tastes like you know what,. Their other selections are of equal quality.

Consistently great service. Even on Cinco de Mayo when the place was hectic and packed. Food is creative, authentic Mexican and quite tasty at that. Their«Torta Cubano» sandwich is a testament to the power of pork.

Good service, nice people, and great authentic dishes. Prices are reasonable, and it’s byob! Spacious dining room is perfect for parties, or eat in the smaller seating section of the restaurant. I’ve had several items from the menu, but I’m addicted to their tacos al pastor.

Have been to this restaurant several times and the food was amazing. Went this weekend. New owners and the food is beyond horrible. All deep fried and full of grease. Burrito… No rice just greasy beef. So sad.

Wow the tacos rock at this place. 2.00 for a lot for rather decent sized tacos. I usually go with the pork and beef tacos. They serve them with a lovely, hot spicy sauce. Delicious. On the other side, though I was in there yesterday. I picked up a to go menu and with the exception of the tacos, all the other dishes, burritos, tostadas and such went up in massive proportion. A dish that was once 6.50 was priced at 8.00. One that was 7.50 was jacked to 10. Mmmmm… that’s a big jump from a month ago. I will stick to the tacos.

This was our second time at the restaurant. Absolutely love it. Very authentic homestyle mexican food at a great price. I have tried both ranchero and chipolte style platters and was extremely happy with both. Great meal at a great price.
