This place was great. I lived in West Newton for 5 years and got a scone and coffee there almost every morning on my way to work. Sadly they closed their doors for good today 09÷01÷14. They will be missed.

Before I left my daughter at BC for the semester, I googled«gluten-free» bakeries near Newton. I wanted her to have some gluten free goodies to remind her of the ones we make at home. I found Keltic Krust and I’m so glad I did! The place is clean, the staff is friendly, and the selection of gluten free and other baked goods was plentiful and delicious. My daughter loved the GF apple bread, the breakfast bars, and cookies! Thank you and I’ll be back on my return trip to BC this fall for tailgating treats!

Keltic is a great place for morning coffee and breakfast but also great for sandwiches for lunch. Their half sandwich is an awesome choice because it is more than you need at half the price! I recommend the wheat soda bread toasted for your sandwich, can’t get better than that. They also have a wide range of delicious baked goods and even gluten free and vegan options! Overall: Delicious!

Great iced coffee and treats. Lots of variety and choices. The pastries are good but not extraordinary, probably the only thing that keeps it from 5 stars. Everything else is really excellent.

One of my best friends moved to the area about a year ago and she lives just a few blocks from this place. It is now a staple of every visit to West Newton. The almond croissants are heavenly, but the chocolate variety are a nice alternative if they run out of the former. Their breakfast sandwiches are also a hit, but I suggest always ordering them on one of their soda breads. They are also quite large, so be prepared to share(especially if you are also scarfing down their croissants). Definitely check this place out when in the area!

I love this place. It’s my favorite place to get good coffee, awesome cranberry scones and the pecan pie is probably the best I have had in many years. I love sitting at the window tables when the snow is coming down, sipping my coffee and just staring out the window.

I went to Keltic Krust Bakery twice and I will never go back again! They have free WiFi and the coffee is decent(reasons for the two stars). The bakery items that I tried were not so good, too sweet for my liking. One of the days that I went there was a hot hot summer day, and they have no air conditioning so sitting there more than 10 minutes was unbearable. The second(last time) that I went there, I had a three year old child with me. I bought one simple slice of while bread(no butter, not even toasted) and they charged me $ 1 for it! but worst than that was when saw a big fly wandering inside the bakery goods displaying fridge!

I’ll have to add more to this later, but for now let’s just say, I wish we had one in CA!!! They have a huge selection of teas, yummy sandwiches(we had the goat cheese one on wheat soda bread), loved the raisin soda bread toast, the wickedly lemony lemon bars & Irish Breakfast sausage with HP Sauce. All of it was soooo good!!! I can’t decide which are my favs! Rumor has it this is one of two places left in Boston where you can get the Irish Breakfast Sausages. They are made in house. Highly Recommended!

Great coffee, pastries, and filled croissants. I go to work early, and once I stopped by at 6:40 am and they took the croissant fresh out of the oven so I could have one! They are very nice people. The sandwiches I have had are hit or miss. Sometimes they are good, sometimes they are not. Regardless, they have my business for years to come!

This is the second time my boss brought me goodies from Keltic and it’s just getting better! First time she brought me an array of freshly baked goods: almond croissant, chocolate croissant, feta and spinach stuffed croissant, and a cinnamon bun cupcake thing. All were so delicious! I especially loved the chocolate and feta and spinach croissants. Today she brought just the feta and spinach croissants, which were just as good as the first time. So, I’d conclude that they were pretty consistent. I work in Cambridge and all of it was still very warm, too!

I live right around the block so I still go frequently. I like their pastries, their sandwiches, and pretty much everything, but I am going to have to dock them a star. The staff has gotten more and more surly over the past few years. Each time I go, I feel like I’m somehow imposing on the employees. The owner is awesome and he’s always super accommodating but the rest of the people working there just seem so… listless and impolite. I’m also a fan of nearby L’Aroma but I find the baked goods and sandwiches are better at Keltic Krust. My favs: hot cross buns, chelsea buns, pesto/tomato/mozz sandwich… mmmmm…

This place was ok, it looked like it’s going out of business, we went there on a Sunday and the staff was so annoyed, we only asked them if we could have some pastries but the girl behind the counter looked at us as if we belong at the circus, really girl? Don’t think i will stop again… pastry was ok, had better Irish style pastries at bars in Boston…

I love this place. I visit almost every weekend for breakfast/lunch. Two scrambled eggs, 4 pieces of bacon, one giant cookie. Total: $ 4.25.

I REALLY want to like Keltic Krust… I’ve been there multiple times, it’s right on a path I often drive, it’s a perfect, cute, corner location… and it could become great — BUT — here’s the problem(or problems). The main thing here is the service — I’m generally a friendly, upbeat person, and treat everyone with respect and a smile — is that too much to ask for in return? The staff behind the counter are often surly, bored, and look like they didn’t get enough sleep last night(not many of us did, but we can still smile about it!). Most innocuous questions seem to annoy them — your very presence as a customer seems an imposition! I’ve never felt so ‘unwelcome’ when walking into an establishment!(well, except for that dive bar in Bakersfield…). They just seem generally annoyed, and take it out on customers. This is not just with me — I’ve seen it with others too when I’ve taken a seat. It’s not ‘rudeness’ so much as apathy, indifference, and general annoyance. PLEASE get better service! OK, the food — the selection is often a hodge-podge, but that’s OK — bread is indeed excellent, first-rate. Egg Sandwich in the AM is a challenge — it is HUGE(I think 3 eggs or something) — and on the wheat bread doesn’t work — the bread just falls apart. Croissant is better. The sausage rolls(sausage wrapped in pastry) look amazingly delicious and rich — but are somehow disappointing! Rich in meaty goodness, but rather bland overall. Coffee is OK — average, not outstanding.

Seriously, I didn’t know good cheap places still existed! The staff is friendly, everything there is home made and delicious! Coffee: great Salads: exquisite! Try the mandarin, cranberry, walnut salad with goat cheese! And it’s only $ 5. Sandwiches: Awesome! Grilled cheese on toasted soda bread: WHAAAAT! Get it. I love the place and always hit it up after the gym!

The Keltic Krust Bakery, with its amazing assortment of delicious pastries, breakfast sandwiches, and breads, has ruined more than one trip to the gym, which, incidentally, is located across the street. First, the food and baked goods: 5 stars The soda bread is the best I’ve tasted since our favorite Irish pub closed on the South Shore a few years ago(bye, Brennan’s). They offer a great assortment of freshly-baked breads, pastries, and other goodies that taste homemade. The Viennese cookies, for example, are possibly the best treats I’ve ever tasted. Their scones are excellent– not too sweet, not too dry, with just the right amount of blueberries or cranberries. Their breakfast sandwiches, usually we have egg and cheese, are simple, but delicious and served on their amazing wheat soda bread. The service– 4.5 stars Typically, the service is nothing short of excellent. The servers are usually extremely friendly, patient, accurate, and helpful. Unfortunately, when we went in last Sunday, we were served by an apparently new server, who was actually quite curt with us. The good news is, our ten great experiences greatly outweigh the one not-so-good experience. Plus the food was awesome. The«ambiance” — 3.5 stars The owners have gone out of their way to make it a family-friendly place with lots of cute kids books and other fun books with an Irish theme. Seating is very limited, though. On a weekend morning, we’ve gotten a seat about 50% of the time. The most frustrating thing is that at any given time, at least one or two tables are occupied by people who have finished their coffee and treats, and are just there reading or using the free wireless internet service. They may want to put a sign up and enforce a «Out of courtesy for fellow guests, please use the tables only while enjoying our food and drinks» or something like that. Aside from the seating issue, Keltic Krust has me hooked. I can gladly thank them(and myself) for negating many a trip to the gym.
