My wife and I arrived here after trying and failing to get a cup of coffee at two other cafes. This was on the list of places to try, but not for breakfast. Walking in, I was surprised how large the space is. While this might seem to detract from the intimate environment I expect from a café, they compensated with their unique setup. Instead of tiny tables for they had a number of unique dining tables setup. Each one was different with their own set of chairs. In addition to that there were comfortable upholstered armchairs, coffee tables, and end tables arranged to mimicking different social spaces one might find in their home. If it weren’t for the sign out front and Unilocal reviews, I might have thought that this was a resale shop. In fact, a number of baubles rest on the furniture lining the walls. Lamps with the plastic still on the shade topped end tables. Four vintage bicycles lined a loft space near the back. While the ordering is done in the back, a second register sits at the front of the store complete with plate filled glass display cases. I will admit to standing in the front for a little too long trying to figure out if anyone worked there while scratching my head and searching for a menu. Embarrassment aside, I finally figured out where to go(although I suspect my wife knew and was just doing a little reveling). It really isn’t difficult, I’m just dense without my morning caffeine. The staff was super nice and helpful. After we sat down to eat they stopped by to check in on us. Like I stated earlier, this was not on our list of breakfast places. It looks like a great place to grab some lunch or a sweet treat. I will say that the americano was decent. I passed on the drip coffee as they had those self-serve carafes which I never seem to have good luck with. From what I could tell there were no breakfast foods being offered outside the baked goods being displayed. We went with a scone, a turnover, and a cookie. The scone was buttery and had just the right amount of crumble. I prefer moister scones although this was what I usually expect. Taste wise nothing stood out but it certainly was inedible. The turnover was delicious but perhaps would have been better warmed. Not too sweet so the apple flavored got a chance to stand out. The cowboy cookie was the highlight. It was soft and buttery on the inside while offering just the right amount of surface tension on the outside. The flavors worked together to make my mouth«mmm» with with cookie bliss. I think they add a little bit of cinnamon and maybe some nutmeg to a traditional cowboy cookie. Whatever it was it worked! Do yourself a favor and grab one of these.

I have not had a chance to try M & T’s products yet, but I did make a research phone call. Their customer service was very good, and so I will review based on this initial contact. I was asking about Gluten-Free baked goods. The owner/manager I spoke with was very friendly and very honest and helpful. She said she would gladly bake gluten-free, with an advanced order, and that she would use an established«boxed» mix, since this type of baking was not her forte. She said that people really like their frosting, and so the cake is simply a platform to showcase the frosting(in so many words). I appreciate her honesty, and after trying another local bakery’s «gluten-free flourless cake,» which, news flash, was not actually a cake at all, but simply a chocolate mousse concoction… next time, I will be ordering the boxed cake from M & T, so that I can have a real cake :-)

Local eatery with an eclectic vibe and a passion for crafting memorable sandwiches. Part bakery/part lunch stop, M&T’s has it all. Looking to fill a hungry tummy? Sign up for the R&R’s Child, a behemoth of a sandwich stuffed with every meat under the sun. How about a birthday cake for your best friend? Stop by the sweet tooth counter and order up a delicious handcrafted dessert. How about a lamp? They’ve got those too, although I’m not as sure why. Palms

I absolutely love this place. It is a family-owned local casual café and bakery with a wonderful desert choice. However, it also has healthy options and every food choice I’ve ever picked there has been downright scrumptious! I believe that they also offer gluten free options, and seem to be fairly allergy-friendly. There is a beautiful, large dining area with board games for you to enjoy while your food is prepared. The area has been impressively clean every time I’ve visited. In addition, the service is always friendly and attentive. Their main competition seems to be Zander’s, a nearby coffee shop which I also love. I usually attend Zander’s for a quick drink or small sandwich, and attend Marie & Twanettes when I want more time to socialize with friends and have a more filling meal. I would definitely recommend Marie & Twanettes to others, and plan to return in the future!
