Our medium hamburger was raw inside. The taco salad was the worst I’ve ever had. One kind but beleaguered waitress trying to serve the entire place. Long delays. Would not recommend this place at all.

Good place to get a few drinks and some food with a nice outside area. My wife and I were able to get food and drinks while relaxing outside. The inside is small but unless it’s winter no need to go inside.

Max’s Station House is a small spot right outside of the main section of Newton. It’s definitely not for young people looking for a crazy night. It’s nice to go with a friend or two, or to bring your family. There is a very small outdoor tiki bar but it’s usually taken by a group of locals whenever I go. There is outside seating and inside, but inside it usually crowded and slightly dark. The bar is small as well so I recommend outdoor seating. The service is fast and the food is good. Burgers are great and they have a basic beer/​drinks list. They have great quesadillas and decent wings!

Mediocre tonight. Our waitress was totally on top of the order. The kitchen chose to completely ignore it. This is the third time the kitchen has totally messed up an entire table of food. Cheeseburger comes out with out cheese, entrees coming out instead of the appetizers, missing soups and salads, etc. additionally, the gansta rap being played is incongruent to the clientele that come in and it only happens when the owner isn’t there. Her chef needs a beatdown from Gordon Ramsey.

Great little bar with a ‘dive’ feeling but the food is fantastic, drinks are cheap and the staff makes you feel at home. What more could you want in a local pub?

Nice small local bar with great service and good reasonably priced food. Burgers are good along with specials. They get local bands on the weekend and have a poker night weekly.

Used to love this place. My friend and I wanted to dine outside on a beautiful day, so we went here because they have a deck. Three parties were smoking, which was disgusting. If you don’t mind choking while eating, then go for it. If you can’t enjoy yourself when inhaling second-​hand carcinogens, then don’t sit on the deck. You’re safer inside.

We came here with friends after working on their CSA farm and needed a beer and AC. Max had both and they had a nice menu. We split the Mac and Cheese Bites and the Poppers. We really wanted the Potato Bites but they were out that day. I had a Hangover Burger– egg, taylor ham, bacon, plus burger. Delicious! My Husband kept it simple with a bacon cheese burger with nice thick bacon. Our friends had veggie burgers that even a carnivore would enjoy.
All in all a solid place to enjoy a good meal at a very fair price. We would return if we were in the area and maybe enjoy the outside deck.

Real corner joint with very tasty made to order fare. Wish we had tried this place a long time ago! Will definitely be back soon. Friendly servers with just the right amount of attentiveness.

Max’s is one of those places that is a pleasure to have around. A place you can trust to get a good meal and a cold beer at a fair price. Best when the weather is warm so you can sit out on the deck. We always have a good time when we go there. It can get loud and crowded at times but it is a BAR so you have to expect that.

Max’s is a great neighborhood bar and restaurant, with great steamers (get the tomato and basil sauce). Friendly, warm, personal service. Love it!

All I can say was that it was okay. The food was definitely frozen and defrosted and not fresh. The atmosphere was dark and somewhat uninviting. I would say it has a better bar atmosphere than a dining atmosphere. Typical American food with some Mexican menu items thrown in. The service was fantastic considering we were the only ones there.
