Sail Loft

On our way to the gym I realized I needed to buy a birthday gift for my girlfriend’s 30^th. She’s in love with all things nautical and anything to do with Nantucket. Naturally, I thought the Sail Loft would be an easy choice for a little something. We live in Beacon Hill with a few amazing nautical/​new England themed gift shops (NRO, Flat of the Hill) but since we were in Chestnut Hill, I gave sail loft a shot. The store mostly sells clothes, which is great if you’re shopping for yourself, and they have a small jewelry area. Hoping there might be a bin of scarves or other accessories I asked the girl behind the counter to help — because she is after all a sales associate. I tried to make small talk with her and in turn I got a really cold «you could buy her jewelry» suggestion. When I inquired about the Kiel James Patrick bracelets she icily told me they didn’t sell them and just seemed genuinely displeased to have me there asking questions. Such a major shift from shopping in Beacon Hill, never mind ACK! If you’re looking to have zero interaction with the person getting paid to help you, by all means — check it out. Otherwise I highly recommend you visit NRO’s team of extremely pleasant people that more than happy to shop with you.
