Fabulous dairy-free, gluten-free pizza and chocolate soufflé! Wow! Perfect venue for diners with dietary restrictions. Professional, efficient service; clean and contemporary interior; generous portions, reasonable prices, quirky restrooms. Ample free parking in private lot; walking distance to Newton Highlands T. Will definitely return!

My sister and brother in-law took us here for dinner when we visited over the holiday weekend. Walnut Grille is one of the best vegetarian/vegan restaurants I’ve been too! I ordered the gobi manchurian, lagasna, and passion fruit sorbet. EVERYTHING was delicious. There were five people in my party and everyone loved their dishes, and three of them were meat eaters. That say a lot about the foods at Walnut Grille.

VEGANHEAVEN I had the vegan nachos and they were bomb. The chicken soy tenders were amazing as well! Would totally recommend and I will definitely be coming back!

Great experience here recently. Best iced coffee I’ve had anywhere in a while, pitchers of mimosas, wide selection for brunch(I had a delicious frittata, others tried the hash special, breakfast burrito, pancakes, etc., and everyone was happy). We were too full for dessert but they knew it was my friend’s birthday so they still brought out some sorbet with a candle which was very thoughtful! Only the birthday girl in our group eats vegan, so she was very relieved to find a place we could all still be happy with our meals!

Walnut Grille is a great place for people with food allergies or restrictions. I love the stuffed artichoke hearts. The butternut squash soup is great too, but I don’t care for the bread and always ask them to hold the Gorgonzola on the salad with cranberries and nuts. Definitely good for vegan, vegetarian, soy allergy, gluten free, dairy free.

Always on the lookout for a yummy Vegan Restaurant and they came through with flying colors! I tried the Natural Ginger Brew and it was flavorful but not too strong. I ordered the Spinach and Pear Salad, Gobi Manchurian and the«Chicken» Picatta. They were all delicious. Staff are friendly and seem real happy to be working there! What a pleasure!

Love this place! Our brunch favorites: vegan french toast and pancakes both topped with a berry coulis and vegan whipped cream. If you eat eggs, add on their homemade salsa/pico de gallo for a kick; it’s delicious! The fruit is always of great quality and fresh, and coffee is hot and fresh. Dinner favorites: gobi manchurian, «chicken» piccata, and the beluga lentil soup. The salads are generous and filling. WG uses organic and local produce whenever they are able. We see the owner here almost every time we come in. I think the wonderful staff and attention to quality reflects his presence.

Previously this was my favorite restaurant in Newton. Unfortunately, we ate there with 2 children on Tuesday night. My nine year old ordered a appetizer that came in a skillet. The waiter put the hot skillet right in front of my son without telling him it was hot. He received a nasty little burn. In my opinion the skillet should have been placed to the side of him. It all happened too fast for us to move the skillet. Then on the way out, the waiter added a $ 30.00 charge for a bottle of wine when in fact one guest had only ordered one glass of wine, for which we were charged $ 8.00 already. The food is yummy, but the lack of detail is upsetting.

Vegans and vegetarians, gluten free, this is the place for you. They have an extensive menu without meal. The gluten free waffle was yummy and large, with lots of fresh fruit. Big portions on the side of fruit and asparagus. I didn’t enjoy the eggs Benedict, they had a non traditional spice on them. I like how they bring you your own pot of hot water for tea. Cute décor, too!

My partner is vegetarian and we are constantly looking for good restaurants that have broad vegetarian options. We ran across this place about a month ago when we got hungry while shopping at the Chestnut Hill mall and we have been back 3 times since because we love it so much! Being from Chelsea, this is way outside our usual circle but we love it so much its worth the trek. I definitely recommend the Gobi Manchurian, as well as the veggie lollipops and the nachos as far as apps. For mains, we really love the nutty tofu and the veggie loaf. The portions are very large, so be prepared. They also make a mean cocktail and a delicious chocolate soufflé. Lastly, the staff at Walnut Grille are just so perfect for this place. They remember us every time we go, quickly seat us, and the service is very no-fuss. I am not sure if she is the owner or not, but one woman that is always there when we go is so attentive to our needs and genuinely cares about the food and experience. If you are vegan or vegetarian, this place is a must! It is head and shoulders above any other vegetarian restaurants in the area as far as offering, flavor etc.

The BEST vegan restaurant. I work in the area and this is our go to for lunch. Most of the people at our office are not vegetarian but when this option is brought up we always end up going to the Walnut Grille. Love the burritos, cauliflower, pizza, etc. Everything is great. The owner always remembers us when we come and the staff are super nice. Definitely check it out!

Food is good quality for sure! Service is fair. That’s what they need to work on! the décor and presentation is a little weird. They could really up their game however it is a solid place to have a vegan meal. The pizza is good but it LOOKS like a microwave pizza. If they made big skewed of veggies on top it would be much more beautiful and tasty. They do know how to mix a drink. The people are friendly. It is so nice to go out to eat and get full eating a vegan and gluten free meal. Hallelujah!

Overall, great spot for delicious vegetarian and vegan options. I will definitely be back! The restaurant itself is very cozy and QUIET! They have sound absorbing panels on the walls which seems to be rare these days, but it really makes a huge difference when you want to actually talk to the people at your table. Also a major plus is the ample free parking outside of the restaurant! Service was great, very attentive. We arrived around 5:30PM on a Saturday night and were seated right away. By 6, there was a very large wait so I would definitely recommend getting there early. There is a nice bar to wait for your table but the wait seemed pretty lengthy. FYI-they only take reservations on the weekend for parties of 6 or more. The food was definitely great on the whole. We both started with the vegan butternut squash bisque, which was divine. Very smooth and creamy, and it was served with two pieces of fresh bread. We then split a salad and an entrée. The entrée was great-we had the nutty tofu which was delicious. It came with two pieces of nut encrusted tofu, a brown rice risotto cake(so good – crispy on the outside and creamy on the inside. YUM). The only letdown of the night was the salad. We ordered the salad special – mixed greens, candy beets, carrots, fresh mango, shaved fennel, blood oranges, crispy soy nuts, and a house dressing. The greens were mostly arugula which was SUPER bitter. The beets and carrots were just sliced and raw, and were cut quite large so they were difficult to eat and didn’t really add much to the salad. The fruit was a nice addition to balance out the bitterness of the greens, but it was mostly hidden under the salad and again, was simply raw and sliced. I think the salad would have been better with some cooked items(like roasted beets/carrots), or maybe the addition of nuts? Overall it was really one-note. We also finished with an apple crisp with a scoop of vegan vanilla ice cream… absolutely delicious! And piping hot-it was the perfect end to our meal.

An amazing place. I seriously could not believe that the vegan«meat» balls were not actually meat; I eat meat frequently, and I still thought these were absolutely amazing — same with the BBQ Seitan. You can tell that the chefs really know their stuff. I was also extremely impressed with the desserts. I have eaten more chocolate soufflé cakes than the average person I’d say, but this was one of my absolute favorites(and still, somehow, vegan). I was blown away. Also great for people looking for gluten-free or soy-free options. They have plenty. This is clearly a hot spot — it was super packed when I went, and no reservations for groups of 2!

Delicious & plentiful vegetarian, vegan & gluten free menu. This would be my go to spot if I lived closer! I started with a warm cup of lemon ginger tea. It came out in a ceramic pot and was nice but could have been hotter(it was a blustery New England day!). I ordered a cup of beluga lentil soup and the pizza florentine. The soup was delicious and spiced to perfection! Again, I wish it came out hotter. The pizza was also delicious and my favorite part of the meal. It was generously sized and covered with spinach, poached sweet cherry tomatoes, garlic, broccoli, kale, mozzarella, goat cheese & drizzled with balsamic reduction. I gladly took what I couldn’t finish of the pizza home! The service was great and attentive. My only suggestions would be to take an extra moment to make sure tea and soup comes out hot and to turn the heat up on bitter cold days. Otherwise, it was an excellent experience. Thanks!

My wife and I ate here about 3 weeks ago. It was excellent. We ordered the gobi manchurian, a fig and eggplant pizza and my wife ordered the nutty tofu. All of them were really good. I’m normally not a fan of this cuisine as I find it is never properly done but this place really does a great job of making this type of cuisine. I am really impressed, I would definitely come back to try other dishes and would gladly bring other guests to come check it out!

Like those before me, I am neither vegetarian or vegan, but am always quite happy with a delicious, filling and flavorful meal from Walnut Grille. The drums of heaven are a yummy vegetable-ish appetizer served in a tangy sauce and piping hot. The polenta napoleon was perfectly cooked with interesting contrasting textures and flavors, including a most amazing sauteed spinach. The quesadilla is SO good, with tasty sweet potatoes and overflowing with other fresh veggies. And of course any of the pizzas — can’t go wrong. All the desserts look heavenly, but I have yet to try one since I’m always so stuffed after dinner. The owner is so attentive and the staff is friendly and prompt. The restaurant is clean and has its own parking lot, shared with nearby businesses — a rare gem in and of itself. It does get very busy around dinner time: weekday or weekend. Luckily the neighborhood has nice little parts to walk around as you wait. Definitely head to Walnut Grille regardless of your meat/non meat preferences: you’ll be in for a great meal.

Solid choice for a healthy dinner option! Started off with the Drums of Heaven, which tasted like spring rolls with a tangy sauce. I love spring rolls so I liked this too. For entrée had the Eggplant Rolatini with cheese: yum! Also had their ABC juice(Apple, beet, carrot), which had a mild flavor compared to other juices with beet that I’ve had, but still delicious. Got there just in time for an open table before there started to be a wait. This was Friday night around 7p. There is free parking available! Would come again for sure.
