I always pick up some broccoli and cauliflower salad when I’m at the farmers market. It tends to need a touch of salt but is otherwise perfect. I enjoy the genuineness of the older Mennonite gentleman that waits on me. I was once there and a person ordered and planned to pay with a food stamps card. I don’t know if they used to accept and now do not but the man was clearly embarrassed. The gentleman told the man to enjoy his food from their family to his: You could never see that kind of thing happen at a Giant or an Acme. I have also tried their coleslaw, chicken croquettes, desserts, and bean salad. All have not disappointed and lead me to return.

«…with a name like Smucker’s… Couldn’t resist, but the slogan does hold true. If their food isn’t good, they will hear about it in a bad way. Fortunately, most of the salads and side dishes found in the display are very good. The service is friendly and prompt, and you can even taste a sample of anything that interests you. My favorites are the Baked Lima Beans, Chicken Salad, and Rice Pudding; all of which I can eat in one meal either in the tiny sitdown areas, or as take home. Also, the jarred goods on the right hand side of the shop are worth a look for some esoteric Pennsylvania Dutch/Amish treats. Their Corn Relish is great! Still only open Thursday through Saturday, it is best to get there early for the freshest selection. Eat it quickly to enjoy its peak flavors.

This place is really hit or miss. Some things are fantastic like all the puddings(éclair, peanut butter, rice, tapioca, etc.). However, some things they should take off the menu. The salads are decent for the most part, but the breakfast and lunch items need work. Please do not order the cheesesteak here, you’ll be disappointed.

I loved this place, it was like walking into my Mom’s kitchen and finding all the wonderful foods that I grew up on. Such a sweet lady runs the show, with a beautiful smile in both her eyes and on her face. All the ladies wear the long dresses with netted caps on their tied back hair and long white aprons. Eager to answer any questions and to fix what you want and then to tally it all up with a pencil and pad. I asked if she had a take out menu and she was confused as to what I was asking for, once she understood she explained they did not but offered to write everything down for me! I thanked her but declined her warm gesture. Smucker’s is located in a Pa. Dutch and Amish run Farmer’s Market, which is only open Thursday through Saturday. We arrived on a Saturday afternoon, a few hours before closing. Knowing they will be closed for four days they try to sell all they have made, so this place did have some slim pickings. Other than that it is a very large vendor which sits along the entire back wall. They serve a breakfast of pancakes, scrapple, cream beef on toast, bagels, eggs and breakfast meats, one day soon I will take them up on this. For lunch or anytime, they have cheesesteaks, hot dogs, burgers, barbecued pulled pork, egg, chicken or tuna salad sandwiches. Ham salad is ground bologna with Mayo, onions and relish, which I love and do not make anymore, so I was thrilled to see it here. They have several soups, one was the ham and bean which was so good and they have turkey chili. Chicken croquettes, meatballs, tuna noodle casserole, chicken pot pie, chicken and dumplings, shepherd’s pie and creamed chipped beef. The salads are endless and five kinds of potato salad, several slaw salads, various pasta salads, deviled eggs, pickled eggs, lasagna and peirogies. Mashed potatoes, sweet potatoes, twice baked potatoes, scalloped potatoes, baked beans, carrot or beet salad, creamed cucumbers with onions and mac and cheese. They also have a large selection of jarred jams, pickles, peppers and sauces. All homemade and I have just covered the tip of the iceberg. I bought German potato salad which was perfectly made, very good mac and cheese, a pint of ham salad, cole slaw and homemade peirogies. I used to make peirogies years ago, but they are so much bother, so it is wonderful to be able to have homemade ones again without sacrificing with Mrs. T’s. The ham salad was just as good as it was growing up, best part is I will not eat a slice of bologna, yet I love the salad. They offer a wonderful variety of homemade desserts like several bread puddings, tapioca’s, rice puddings, egg custards, oreo pudding and chocolate éclair pudding, which I need to try. I did buy rice pudding and bread pudding and as I was eating them, I could smell my Mom’s kitchen again
