This is a tough call, the place was great for handling kids and the entire patio was full of families with children. The food was mediocre at best, everything was under seasoned and poorly constructed. I had the crab cake sandwich where they boasted«no fillers» but it was more like a scoop of under flavored crab on a brioche. It was impossible to eat as a sandwich and I used a fork to consume the food. The kids macaroni and cheese was soupy but decent for the kids and the pizza was lackluster. Overall, it served my purpose of a family friends place.

My friend and I came here one day for their happy hour. We had to ask for the happy hour menu since it wasn’t available. I got the cheesesteak egg rolls which were really good. I ordered one of their signature cocktails, which was not good at all, and they overcharged me for it. The food was good the place was nice but I wasn’t very happy during their happy hour.

We have eaten here a few times. The burgers OK, Sonoma salad was pretty good but the shrimp was not cooked all the way. Last time we were here and had entrées –One was very good fish dish, one was not so good and attempt at an Italian seafood. Overall if I had to grab something and wanted burgers or hot sandwich, We may stop back. But this is not on our top list.

The Green Parrot has fantastic cocktails. This is definitely the place to go in Newtown if you want to pay a lot of money to get hammered with your old college or high school friends. The crowd is mostly 20-somethings. They get 3 stars from me due to the lack of vegetarian options so I can’t really eat here.

My girl friend and i went to isaac newtons first but there was a 20 min wait so we decided to come here .i have been here quite a few times on a friday night and the bar is jumping! but today i went for dinner and it absolutely sucked. we waited about 10 min before a server even came and asked for our drinks. She didnt introduce her self or anything of that manner she just asked if we wanted drinks, by that time we were ready to order so we put our whole order in. We got an order of cheesesteak egg rolls and 2 chicken panini. The egg rolls were very dry and mediocre at best. The chicken panini’s were mediocre at best too. the server had a very small section and was not doing a very good job with it. Im not one to usually pick on servers because i know the job can be hard but she was not putting in any effort! i will never be back here to eat, only to drink on the weekends. The bartenders work their butts off and do it with a smile! next time im going to just wait it out for isac newtons

The staff is nice, it has a large bar which makes it a local hangout & they frequently have good entertainment. I really wish the food was better. The chicken fingers, burgers, filet & cheesesteak egg rolls are the safest menu items & I have had at least 75% of the menu. I really would love to give it a better review but the menu needs a complete overhaul & they need to use fresh ingredients. We live in an area with many local farms & it would be lovely if more restaurants would utilize them.

Stopped by on St. Patrick’s day for a quick lunch. As always we were pretty much pleased with the food. I started with the chili, it was delicious! Perfect amount of heat. My wife had the mahi mahi salad, she loved it and the walnuts were huge! The waitress recommend the turkey panini so I gave it a try. It was just okay, some parts of it were cold so it was obviously pre made. That was a bit of a disappointment. Like I said we went on St. Patrick’s day so it was busy! They have live music which was nice but the main bar/patio area was closed off and there was a $ 10.00 cover. That made it a bit congested in the restaurant area. They were also limiting tables to 1 hour limit. All in all we always enjoy this place and will continue to go back.

I absolutely hate this place, yet for some reason everyone is insistent on going back for college reunions on holiday eves. I’m not sure what the appeal could be to anyone, other than proximity to home. I firmly believe that if there was another large building that offered alcohol and a place to stand and not talk to your ex from high school, it would run the Green Parrot out of business. The problem is that there isn’t a big enough building. There’s a sports bar down the road, but it’s too small to hold the masses of poloclad, freshly minted«professionals». You win Green Parrot. But if you’re going to be the only bar large enough to hold the entire bucks county ’11 graduating class, do them a solid and move the stools out of the place when you expect a crowd. I’ll be at the bar down the road if you need any more suggestions.

Went to have an easy birthday celebration for my wife. Met up with my son and his fiancé at the parrot. We ordered drinks and appys to start. I’m a Guinness guy and it was a perfect pour and temp. My wife had an Irish honey mixed drink and has quickly become a favorite. We ate cheesesteak egg rolls and chicken tenders in their Gallic hot sauce. Both were very good and everything else we had from cheeseburger, crab cake sandwich, fish tacos and fish and chips. All tasted great. We had great service from start to finish(hats off to Chrissy). We will def be back! Don’t worry you shouldn’t be disappointed.

My wife and I frequent The Green Parrot at least once a week for happy hour. The happy hours run from 5−7pm allowing those who work later to make it. The bartenders there are friendly and the environment is clean and welcoming. We will continue to come to The Green Parrot.

We went last night. The service was okay but the food isn’t that great and a little overpriced. I got the grilled ahi tuna which was cold and strangely cut up and placed over a bed of grape tomatoes and other various vegetables. An ahi tuna steak shouldn’t be cut up — do you grill a strip steak and cut it up before serving it to someone? I’m nitpicking but seriously keep the ahi tuna whole and let me cut it. My wife ordered a pasta dish with shrimp which was over cooked. My biggest complaint was dessert — if anyone from the restaurant reads this — for the love of god — fix the execution of your crème brûlée recipe. The bottom part of the dessert smelled and tasted like eggs. I couldn’t eat it. Too much heat was applied when mixing in the eggs causing them to scrabble. It wasn’t good. Clearly no one tried the dessert before they pushed it out. It was also 9 dollars which is outrageous. The dessert menu didn’t have prices on it. The place lacks finesse but is probably good for a simple burger and a beer.

Finally stopped in, by design this time, for dinner after a day of shopping(a necessary evil at this time of year). The place was packed and we wanted to sit in the bar area — got lucky and snagged the last table. Great atmosphere and many, many TVs so you could watch any game. Eagles/Patriots had prime space and there were a lot of Eagle’s fans all around me. The beer selection is pretty good and they rotate it, I am told, on a regular basis. I chose a Flight(4 beers) for $ 7. The server(Danielle) was personable and knew enough about the beers to give me some guidance. Wine was 50% off for a bottle so my wife got a bottle and brought most of it home. Our meal was just basic so we both went with burgers — Jalapeño and cheese burger and a bleu cheese burger. Both were cooked to order and the fries were excellent. The table next to ours ordered wings and they looked great — need to try them next time.

The only Irish Sports Pub in Newtown, The Green Parrot, named for a 19th Century saloon of the same name that thrived at the other end of Sycamore Street and had a less savory reputation, has become the anchor of the new Goodnoe Corner commercial center that is the heart of Newtown Township. If you want to catch World Cup action, this is the only local place to belly up to the bar and see it live at 6 in the morning. It is also the centerpiece of all the street action fairs, shows and other events that occur in this fair burg. If you enjoy loud bars with a couple of dozen HDTVs on the walls and winsome bartenders pouring your crafties, this be your place. It has a rotating beer list that is bound to have something that appeals. The kitchen is strong in the apps department, and grills up good burgers(starting at $ 10), but the dinners can be spotty, so for the price I tend to look elsewhere to sup. Still, I am a fan for what The Green Parrot does well, and for its active role in the life of our community. Plenty of parking behind the house, and on the street. Entrances front and rear. Nice covered porch which works well for private parties.

The Green Parrot has really great buffalo wings. I highly recommend them. Nothing fancy, just great buffalo sauce flavor on a perfectly crispy chicken wing. Haven’t tried much of the other food except for the nachos and mozzarella wedges. They were okay. Service is also pretty standard. I recommend The Green Parrot if you’re trying to watch some sports, have a few beers, and enjoy some chicken wings.

I am so glad I finally went in here! The prices are very reasonable, especially for the area, and there are so many healthy options that you don’t have to feel guilty when you leave! As an added rare bonus, there is also a pretty vast selection of vegetarian options. I can’t wait to go back and try the rest of the menu out. I went with a friend for Trivia night, and it was fun. The announcer was very friendly, but needs to work on annunciation… we couldn’t really understand him most of the time… otherwise we would have won, I’m sure. Just kidding, but really… very mumbly. All in all, a great place!

This is a review for the bar only I didn’t eat here. The bar pretty big with their stock in the middle. Not bad service overall for a busy weekend night. I ordered a Jack on the rocks which I have to say, had a lot of ice in it… the bartender gave a nice strong pour, but just way too much ice. Second drink was much better. There are plenty of large TV’s for sports fans, and the do carry UFC fights(huge plus for me). Nice place for a drink, but it is a little pricey.

My first time here I found a piece of hair in my duck salad. My 2nd time here, in my cheesesteak eggroll. I’ve had a lot of friends work here so I don’t wanna be too mean, but honestly, they need to lower their prices because the quality of food isn’t worth the price. But hey, it’s newtown, so I’m sure someone will pay for the food.

First real summer day of the year, meant I was looking for outdoor seating and some chilled moscato to enjoy. We landed at the Green Parrot despite a Unilocal search recommending the place across the street. The ambiance at the bar was definitely 40’s and 30’s locals. There are a ton of tvs all over the place and lots of drinks to choose from. My beau and I opted for the outside seating since we wanted to have dinner. We ordered some wine and then picked the two most random plates. Irish Nachos, which are usually some of my favorite, but here they are made with waffle fries and I pretty much am bias to having them with kettle chips. The toppings were huge, good guacamole, chili, cheese, sour cream. The horseradish gives the chili a strange taste for me, so although I didn’t hate these, I didn’t love them. The portion is of typical nachos and can easily feed 4 people. The Bangers and Mashed plate was surprisingly my favorite of the night. This is two large chicken apple sausage fire roasted over mashed potatoes and smothered in caramelized onions. I am a sucker for a good mashed potato and if you throw in some caramelized onions, it’s a wrap. What I was surprised about was how much I enjoyed the chicken sausage, it had great flavor and felt like a hearty meal. Although I must admit I’m surprised the plate goes for $ 15. Overall it was nice to sit outside and eat overlooking the street, sadly there is not much people watching going on in Newtown at 9PM. Overall, I would return and enjoy more of the bar scene, since it seemed pretty lively.
