Alcliff is a decent nursery with a good selection of flowers and vegetable plants. We went in based on a Buffalo Perks I bought and I was glad it had been offered, or else I wouldn’t have found such a reasonable place! So the pros, the prices on the plants were really great. I didn’t check out pricing on other supplies or landscaping hard materials, but I was really pleased with how difficult it was for me to spend my perks money! My back porch is covered in more flowers than I’ve ever had, and my vegetable garden is full of little green leaves reminding me of the tasty produce I’ll have soon. The downsides — the location was a bit odd and we made the mistake of visiting over Victoria Day weekend — and with the Canadians flooding the outlets, the traffic was terrible! But the nursery itself is set pretty far back from the road, so keep a sharp eye when looking for it. And it felt a little disheveled. I also found some of the staff to be a bit odd — and smoking inside the greenhouse. That just seemed so inappropriate to me, legal or not. It delayed my shopping experience because I was avoiding this staff person until the cigarette was burned out, and they were standing right where I needed to be. The other downside is I was unhappy with the condition of some of the vine plants — they can’t be kept in as tight of quarters as say, peppers and tomatoes. Because the squashes were as crowded as the bush plants, a lot of the stems were broken and bruised and it was time consuming finding a 4-pack of healthy plants. In fact, I didn’t — I ended up buying some plants that I suspect won’t make it until the end of the month. Luckily the aforementioned low price made me less worried about that.(Plus, my zucchini gets downy mildew EVERY year so they’ll probably die off anyways. :-[) All in all, it was an «A-OK» experience, but I’m glad I had the Perks coupon to get 50% off my purchase, or else I would have been disappointed to make the drive up there. It remains to be seen how well the plants will fair in the ground though!

Poor customer service, business ethics and unreliable. Bought and paid for 4 yards of dirt, lady said it’ll be there at 9am, never called and told me they were running behind. Waited two and a half hours and called and canceled the order. Lady didn’t even care. Not sure how they are in business. I called wayside nursery and they rushed out my dirt in 20mins and were appreciative of my business.
