LA Sale is when you’re in Southern California and everything in the store is half price. However this expressway is neither in So Cal, nor does it sell anything. I’ve used this highway probably 50 times during my years in Buffalo. The surface of the road is the main drawback, it’s not great, a little bumpy. It’s kind of a pointless highway to be honest, otherwise I’d give it a higher rating. The last time I used it was about 6 weeks ago driving back from Niagara Falls and stopping in North Tonawanda. It’s a tiny little highway that begins on the edge of Niagara Falls and ends a few miles down the road at the top end of North Tonawanda. It doesn’t really take you too far, and reminds me of something that was built when things were expected to go differently, when tourist traffic was supposed to follow a different path, and when urban expansion was thought to be booming in this area which is now a little tepid. It’s a very cool road, and a little eerie because it seems like nobody uses it. It’s also a little Erie because it’s not far from lake Erie but that’s another story.
