Very tasty! Good portions! Worth every penny! Will highly recommend it! Btw, it’s really a hole in the wall place, but I guess they’re the best places!

Upon arrival, doesn’t look like much from the outside, but give it a try! The food’s amazing and authentic. For those who are saying the service isn’t great, I believe it just to be our cultural differences and not necessarily rudeness. Decently priced and really delicious.

I personally wasn’t very impressed with the open gyro I got here. It had a lot of meat which is good but not much else. Judging from other reviews perhaps we hit it on an off day. Not sure if I would try it again.

My Order: Open Chicken Souvlaki Pros + FOOD: Delicious. Made fresh right in front of you. + SERVICE: Cute small-talk and banter with the owner is always fun. Cons — EXTRAS: The tzatziki sauce is an additional cost. Whaaaaaaaaaaaat?! — the rice is a bit lackluster. Less flavorful than I expected from other Greek places. Honestly, Sophie’s looks like a hole in the wall from afar. That’s probably because it is. The owners renovated a previously dying hotel/motel and made it their home/diner. All else aside, their food is absolutely spectacular. None of the food court stands in Fashion Outlets stands a chance when compared to Sophie’s. I personally also am not a big fan of the restaurant franchises nearby(minus Firehouse Subs, that place is bomb!). The quality of the food here triumphs all else. Go for a short spin. It’ll be well worth it.

I’ve been here a few times. Delicious vegetarian platter! It has fresh warm pita, hummus, tabouleh, grape leaves, falafel, tzatziki sauce, and an olive. $ 10 which is a little pricey but worth it because the food is great!

If you’re rating this on the food alone I would rate it five stars. The actual restaurant is in an old green run down house that doesn’t look like you would want to eat the food out of it, and the service inside is not the friendliest. I’ll give it to this family though, their food is so good and they prepare it all so quick for you. It is a little pricey but nothing unreasonable for how good it tastes.

Sophie’s could have been an Italian restaurant(like most other places in this area). Or it could have done Pitas and Mediterranean food. It had a choice. In fact you could say it was«Sophie’s Choice.» It was a very hard choice indeed. Even someone like Meryl Streep would have struggled with it. It could have made her angry and bitter. You just never know. One thing Meryl would know if she lived around here… and if she liked Gyros… and if she tried all the local places looking for Gyros… is that SOPHIE’S ISTHEONLYPLACEINWESTERNNEWYORKTHATSERVESTHEKINDOFGYROSTHATTHERESTOFTHEWORLDKNOWSASGYROS… the kind that are sometimes called«Chicago Gyros», or that I call«Rotunda Gyros»… the kind that are made up of shaved meat sliced off the rotating slab of meat with a long machete-knife, as it cooks. What to get: Gyro. It’s a sad state of affairs when, in order to have a good Gyro, one has to venture all the way up the NFB to NFNY and get oneself a Gyro from here. They’re not particularly good quality Gyros(as in, they have nothing on the ones in Chicago, or Mike & Tony’s in Pitt, or some of the ones in NYC, for example), the bread is just okay and the meat is sometimes a little old tasting or worse — served dry and cold. So this place really deserves a 4, not a 5. And when you consider the fact that the service is often less than friendly… they often make you feel as though you are severely inconveniencing them… or that you are stupid… I don’t think they mean to, I just think that they have that sort of attitude and demeanour about them. And that’s okay, because it’s all about the food. Yet, still more reasons why this place should be a 4 rather than a 5. And yet I am honestly and wholeheartedly giving it a 5, and that is for one reason and one reason only. Because you CANNOTGET real Gyros(rotunda style) anywhere in Western NY. There are like, 2 or 3 places in Rochester and Cleveland that serve real Gyros, but there are absolutely none in WNY. The only kind you can get in this region, are the pre-formed, pre-cut, pre-frozen strips that are then put on a grill, which are absolutely awful and generic, I can’t stand them. The other kind you can get around here are much better… they are Greek style Gyros… spicy meat patties, that are more like hamburgers… or Kofte Kebabs… very very good indeed, but not, by my definition, Gyros. A Gyro is a rotunda-style thingy… it’s a huge slab of meat that spins, and you get the long«doner kebab knife» as I call it, more like a machete, and you slice off slivers of the meat as it rotates and cooks itself… very unhealthy indeed, but undeniably delicious. Mexicans often cook Al Pastor pork the same way, and slice off bits of it for your tacos. Similarly, the Turks cook their Doner Kebab(Chicken or Lamb) the same way, and it’s divine. So this is what I mean by Gyros. And believe it or not Sophie’s Pita is the ONLY place in WNY that makes them like that, and serves them like that. I have heard many excuses why, one of them being that places are not allowed by law to serve such things in this region. I don’t know whether I believe that, but it’s what I’ve been told. Who knows. Whatever the case, when only one place in the region serves real Gyros, it doesn’t matter how unfriendly they are, and it doesn’t matter how not-the-best the Gyros are… it’s still going to get a five, because I’m obsessed with Gyros. So there.

I’ve been meaning to go here for quite some time because I love falafel. I recently stopped in and ordered a vegetarian platter to go. When I got home and tried it, I could taste how fresh the ingredients were. It was soooo delicious. Honestly, this place surprised the heck out of me. Sophie’s is the real deal and I’ll definitely be back.

I was hesitant because it doesn’t look like a restaurant from the outside. The woman was a little impatient while we ordered, tapping her fingers on the counter while we decided, did make it more authentic. The guy cooking was a delight, he asked us how our food was chit chatted about his family. The food was outstanding! If you like Greek food I would definitely give this place a try. I had a Gyro and it was great! The Tzatziki is probably the best I’ve ever had. The restaurant was immaculate inside, one of my pet peeves is a dirty or dingy place. I will definitely be returning.
