Stopped in here for lunch after finding nothing else in the immediate area. The service was fantastic right off the back. The food came out quickly and was well above average. A fun family owned diner that I would visit again in a heartbeat.

I sure wish I lived closer. This is the type of business I love to support. Good food the old school method. Standard menu with daily specials. Got to love a 50’s style diner run by a super friendly owner/cook and lovely waitresses. Rock n Roll of the 50 – 70’s keeps your toe a taping!

The crap wet, cold, and windy weather combined with a ‘hangry’(hungry, therefore angry) state puts me to immediately criticize anything and everything. First, the wipers on the windshield sound like a cat is getting stepped on. Next, the women’s toilet is plenty roomy enough, but the appliance itself is in the far corner and anyone but the XS type will have to seat themselves at an angle. But even for the small, it may feel like the walls are too close. It was already cloud-covered outside and all the blinds were half-drawn — this combination made the inside very dim and uninviting. The ceiling vents seemed clean but the ceiling tiles and fans need a thorough dusting — thankfully we’re not sitting under one right now or else a large black fuzzy might fall. That might be ok for Hayao Miyakazi, but not for my creamy and rich Cream of Chicken soup. The décor was clean and generally good condition — the black and white tile floor could be slippery, which would explain the generic entry-type rugs everywhere. Service was pleasant enough, and attentive, our coffee cups weren’t empty for long and we never had to ask for a refill. Friendly greeting coming in and going out. Dubious about the ingredients. Partner’s scrambled egg veggie skillet seemed fine, but rye came half burnt and a ramekin of requested butter had a speckling of crumbs. My gyro sandwich with fries — an extra $ 1.00 — is a definite miss. Preformed, vaguely gyro flavored meat patties shaped into strips with the dry kind of pita, not the thick and tender restaurant style treat. Extra onions, only a smattering of tomatoes, and a lopsided schmear of tzatziki sauce. I am a ‘strong eater’, but I really couldn’t stomach the rest of this sandwich. Fries had a great color but were lukewarm and floppy. After many months in this new area I still have yet to find a diner I want to leave the house for. I think this place needs a hipster takeover-makeover or a Gordon Ramsey-ing. We should have gone out for phở. Oh, and there was no lady in a dress, but it was Sunday so maybe her day off.

Good breakfast, good burgers(bit greasy though), but… rest of the menu is lacking. Sorely, in some cases. Meat loaf was home made but OLD, reheated to dry. Last few times I’ve noticed a decline in quality. Chicken sandwich was tiny, used to be bigger. Fries were burned. Unless I want a burger or breakfast I won’t come back. ANd I don’t want fries cooked in old oil. Oh well I shouldn’t eat fires anway so they’re doing me a favor.

I am never let down there. Breakfasts, lunches, and a killer tuna club sandwich. Plus a good place to eat after the gym…

Pretty decent place. There’s not a lot of places like this in the area, which give Niles Grill an advantage. Good selection of food. I had been coming to this location before they became Niles Grill and it seems to be of similar quality, which isn’t a bad thing.

We frequently do a family boys ride for breakfast, and this place has character! First, it’s in an old IHOP. Note the address ISNOT the one in the Unilocal main screen. When we came in, we were instructed to find our own seats, so we took a booth. Walking past an older hunchback lady in a floral polyester dress who seemed to be arranging things.(More about her later.) The waitress was pleasant and attentive. First star deduction– dirty fork. Replaced with a new service setting, without comment. The aforementioned lady brought a menu to our late arrival and touted the 2−2−2 breakfast in a spirited manner. More about her later. There are two standards by which I gauge a breakfast joint: 1 biscuits & gravy(99.44% always a disappointment– so I won’t even try on most first visits) 2. Corned beef hash– needs to have NEVER seen the inside of a can, or else it tastes like ALPO. So we asked the waitress about the hash– I was told«you’d be the first to complain», and I was assured that it was made in-house from non-canned corned beef. She also said that the lady(who was, by then, working on table decorations) had no affiliation whatsoever with the restaurant! We ordered, corned beef hash, and while we were waiting the lady returned to our table to ask what we were riding and pass out a flyer for a car show. She then declared that she has an anniversary edition Harley. This mental visual is really good. If that hash wasn’t canned, it was a really good imitation. There goes another star. Everything else was good, but not remarkable. The ceiling fans and windows hadn’t been cleaned in quite a while– another star deducted. The entertainment lady is now bussing tables and working on more decorations. Now comes the good part– she hits the juke box and starts dancing the jitterbug! Add a star! I’ll maybe come back for the entertainment, but not the hash. Oh, the final star deduction comes for when I asked the waitress about the hash– she repeated that it was house made and told me to go talk to the cook.

I came in for breakfast and ordered the Niles Grill Skillet. It’s a skillet packed with hashbrowns, bacon, sausage, onions, tomatoes, cheese and eggs. I really liked everything about it, but wasn’t too keen on the sausage(I know that sausage is a hit or miss in diners — definitely a miss for me.) It was definitely a little greasy, but it was still an enjoyable breakfast for something local. Will it be a frequent stop for me? Probably not, but I would go back. Maybe I’ll order an omelette next time. Our waitress was extremely friendly and attentive despite the fact that she was waiting on several tables at once. She never let my coffee cup go under half of a cup. She filled it up several times, which is always nice. A+ for her. The owner also thanked us for coming.

I’ve been here twice now for breakfast and I’m very happy with this place. Now this place would be considered a «dive». You will not go here for the atmosphere. I had an omelet and ham off the bone and eggs. Both were very good. The portions were big enough and the prices are very reasonable. I liked the potatoes with the crispy edges. Years ago I went to their old place further South on Milwaukee ave., and I’m pleased to say their breakfast is still very good. Can’t comment on their lunch, never had it. This place has good parking since they have their own lot.

After a movie, my kids and I came into Niles Grill for lunch. The order: a grilled cheese sandwich and two hot dogs. The waitress informed me that I couldn’t order a hot dog for myself, because hot dogs are available only on the kids menu. I asked if I could pay extra for an «adult» hot dog. Uh, no. So now I’m sitting here watching my kids eat. I hope the waitress wasn’t hoping I’d revise my order to accommodate thier«rules» because that didn’t happen. I’ll eat at home I guess. I could tell you what I *really* think of Niles Grill, but you can probably guess that for yourself.

I have been going to Niles Grill on and off for about a year now. It’s actually an old IHOP restaurant that was owned by my friend’s Dad MANY years ago and now turned into a quaint 1950’s type diner. Niles Grill use to be further south on Milwaukee Avenue, and then moved and found a home here. The burgers are the best: very thick and juicy. And many to choose from with real cute names for each type. My favorite is the Turkey Burger, which is extremely juicy. There is much on the menu that is delightful and pretty simple fare. If it’s looks like a diner and eats like a diner, well… One caveat, though. Even though it is wheel chair accessible, there is a short, steep ramp in front of the door that can be hazardous to wheelchairs AND persons with a cane. It’s very easy to lose your footing during the winter and wet weather.

We’ve been driving past this place for years and never thought to stop in prior to today. It’s really not much to look at from outside. We just worked out at xport next door and decided to walk over and have lunch. It definitely has the old school diner, malt shop look to it inside. The first thing that we noticed was how cheap most of the menu was. We eat breakfast a lot and these were some of the least expensive dishes we’ve seen in a while. The burger menu was pretty enticing considering how many varieties they offered. We went for omelets though. I had the special omelet, which was ground beef, onions, peppers. and cheese with pancakes. My wife had the asparagus and mushroom omelet with greek toast. Both came with hash browns. Both were good and pretty large. I probably had two burger patties worth of beef in my omelet. Our waitress was also very nice and would come by frequently to refill our water and make little funny comments every time. We had zero expectations, but had a good meal with great service for about $ 15. Not too shabby considering how full we were afterwards.

Niles Grill has been the lunch spot for my dad and I for almost two years now. We can’t get enough of it! The restaurant definitely has a 50’s theme. Even the menu is written in the 50’s style. The food, however, couldn’t be better. Very recently I actually came up to Niles Grill after an all nighter graduation party. There is no better way to re-wake yourself up than with Niles Grill breakfast. The coffee is great and your cup is never empty. Plus, there is no such thing as a small portion at Niles Grill. Most menu items come standard with a good helping of hash browns and toast on the side. Even better is the fact that you get good prices even with coffee or whatever you wish to drink alongside. The lunch/dinner menu also has it’s great pieces, namely the burger menu. These burgers are made beautifully, and prepared fresh and big. Their sandwich menu is just as wonderful, and every sandwich comes with a cup of the soup of the day. Finally, the service is friendly, especially if you sit up at the counter. Ziggy, the chef, will always smile and welcome you in, and even if you’re a complete stranger will greet you like an old friend. Niles Grill will never disappoint, in any way. Make a stop over if you get a chance.

Moved up the street to 9206 Milwaukee Ave. This place belongs in a 1950’s movie. Breakfast menu has regular fare with good portions. EXCEPT the huge, handmade chopped steak and Giant pork chop. No crap this suckers 2″ thick and both come grilled or cooked over the coals! The ham is cut off the bone and you will not find any«Turkey, chicken» crap sausage here! Lunch has small selection regular sandwiches. and a few specials each day. I had the grilled ham and cheese which had hand cut Ham off the bone. You have to look at the«Burger Section». They are hand made beauties. Bunch of different taste combos as well as good old standard Cheeseburgers. The monster burger is a HUGE two patty, mess of a sandwich. Its all worth the heart attack! Service is friendly and sometimes slow, but the coffee stays full.
