Shim’s Niles Tae Kwon Do

Shim’s Martial arts Training Center has been such a great place to train! My daughter and I have been training here for a while now and we love it! Such a great place to meet people and the instructors and masters are very generous. It’s a great family environment and they really do care about the community.

My sister and I are extremely grateful for the positive change noticeable in my youngest niece after just one month of attending Shim’s TKD. At first I was not sure if these results can be expected from any other TKD training centers, but after chatting with other satisfied students and parents, I am convinced Shim’s TKD is unique. Seriously my niece was unbearable and now thanks to her masters, myself and the rest of our family can enjoy her company.
Self confidence, discipline and focus are now noticeable in my niece and at the same time her physical health is better since she is not stuck to the TV all day.
My sister is grateful for the gift I gave her to help control her energetic child and she is even considering taking classes even though the drive is a long one for all of us.

I have been going there for years, since the old location. The Master’s are perfect at what they do. They truly care about you and they have become family.
They are so good with kids it makes your heart melt.
They have great equipment to get the job done and you will never leave a class feeling unsatisfied. Trust me, you can barely walk sometimes! You will be wobbling the next day!

I’ve attended Shim’s Martial Arts Training Center for the women’s tkd class and I must say it’s so much fun! The instructors are extremely knowledgeable in what they teach and knowing how to teach is an art in itself. At Shim’s I am very pleased with their approach, it is very positive. It’s also a very family oriented environment and just a great school over all.

I loved sending my son to Shim’s TKD! Their training is top-​notch and the kids have so much fun while learning discipline and respect. My son became noticeably more mature and disciplined after training with Master Phil, Cy and Grandmaster Shim. I found the pricing to be such a value and they have several options available to train different days and times during the week and Saturday!

Wonderful school to be part of, teaching martial arts and its culture. You will get to know one of the most sincere group of teachers. Each and ever student fits right in. Very knowledgable and focused. Children are getting lots of confidence by building great sense of accomplishment with every belt they earn. Highly recommend this school, we’ve gained a family when we joined the Shims martial arts and so will you!

This TKD center is in a league of its own. The Shim instructors are true masters of the art and are extremely passionate about teaching their knowledge and skills onto their students. Not only do the classes provide a great and challenging workout, but also promote perseverance, self discipline, and integrity. If you’re thinking about joining, I highly recommend making a visit and checking out a class. You won’t regret it!

Shim’s TKD is truly the best. All 3 members of my family joined this facility when we lived in Chicago. Me, my oldest brother and young brother as well joined Shim’s TKD as our after school extra curricular activity. We learned discipline, improved our concentration and patience. We went from white belt all the way up to 1^st degree black. If our family didn’t have to move to a different state, I’m sure we would still be a part of this family. The instructors were very skilled and knowledgeable. When we moved to Kansas, my family actually looked for a place just like Shim’s TKD. We found one facility that taught TKD, but we quickly realized it wasn’t nearly the same as Shim’s. I highly recommend this place to anyone wanting to join the art of taekwondo. You won’t be disappointed!

My son has been going to Shim’s Taekwondo since November and he has shown great improvement in discipline, strength, memory, and endurance. They also help the kids build confidence in themselves! You couldn’t ask for better teachers in Grand Master Shim, Master Cy, Master Phil, Master Maria, and Instructor Patrick. Their Team is Awesome!

I have practiced under may disciplines but Tae Kwon Do was my most favorite. I came across Shim’s TKD while just passing by and man was I glad I joined. Master P. Shim is a great instructor, he pushes you and is also very patient. The warm-​up activities engaged the whole class and was fun but at the same time a very good work out. The instructors are probably one the best I’ve come across and very dedicated. They will make sure your techniques are correct and to the point. I would so go back to them if I still lived in the Chicago Area.

The best Tae Kwon Do school around! Master Phil Shim carries on the tradition of teaching out of passion for the art and it shows. This school is highly recommended and is worth every cent. I’ve been to other schools and none of them compare to Shims Tae Kwon Do. I love how they concentrate on each student and fully invest their time as well. Just join already! You won’t regret it!

My nephew has been in Shim’s tkd since he was a toddler and this has been a big part of his life. Not only are the instructors there to teach the kids, adults and seniors the basics of tkd, but they learn the values that they use in their everyday life. And aside from being disciplinarians, the instructors have great rapport and relationship with the kids that learning makes it easier because they dont develop fear, but learn to have trust and feel more supported instead. The dojang is definitely clean and they have pizza parties too!

I’ve enjoyed watching my family benefit from the programs that Shim’s Taekwondo provides. They maintain such a high degree of respect and discipline that is so hard to find these days. I would highly recommend this dojo. You will find excellent instructors, convenient access, and walk away with confidence and positivity each time. I know the Shim’s have had a profound impact on the community and feel very lucky to have a chance to know them.

As a fellow korean I went to about 12 different martial arts schools in my lifetime. Shims is by far the best, everybody talks about how great the children programs are, which is true but lets not forget about their adult programs as well. I was actually referred by a buddy of mine whose whole entire family (this guy has 4 kids!) attends shims. I’m glad I took his word for it and gave this place a shot. Best tkd martial arts place hands down!

My two children attend here and all I can say is that this place is a wonderful place for families and kids to develop physically and mentally. I highly recommend this place it’s clean, safe. and friendly. The martial arts instruction here is very positive. I was very impressed with how well the Masters and Instructors taught the class, very organized and structured. They have a great program here.

I go with my buddy to watch his kid train at shims taekwondo in niles I was so impressed. so much so that I am writing a review. The instructor was so attentive and patient. jesus, I was losing my mind watching this chaos right before class, but the instructor was so sincere about his craft he was able to get these kids on track when the class started. they were all listening to him. The guy should teach parenting.

Shim’s Taek Kwon Do is a great place to learn and grow, and the Instructors are great with the kids. Many of the concepts and disciplines I use in the professional world have been instilled in me through martial arts. I am very thankful to Shim’s Tae Kwon Do and the great work they do.

Shim’s Niles Tae Kwon Do is an excellent place for your child to learn Tae Kwon Do. Master Philip Shim is an amazing teacher. He has such patience and knowledge, my son is 5 years old and has learned so much in such a short amount of time. The best thing we did was sign my son up for Shim’s Tae Kwon Do so he could learn respect, discipline and self defense.

my mom signed my son for taekwondo at SHIM“S because she like the fact that it was in the mall, so convenient parking, food court and the children play area right in front of the academy. i like it because on fridays, we can grab a kiddie movie at AMC, which is next door and i’ve seen some moms get their nails done or do some shopping while their children are in class. they have alot more classes than some other taekwondo studios, and a great adult only class at 7, plus saturday classes. the masters, ‘instructors’ love children and are great role models, esp. for single moms raising boys. plus the masters are very cute and good looking… i definitely recommend this place, than other street studios…

–I would not have the discipline & positive mentality that this academy has given to me. Because of Shim’s Tae Kwon Do, I have accomplished & experienced life to it’s fullest. For this I am forever grateful.
–fyi, I have been in many unwanted situations where I had to use my knowledge in order to protect myself & fortunately I’ve succeeded. While one may expect these same results, these expectations are unlikely because of simple logic, a lack of experience. More importantly, one thing everyone will walk away with is learning to better themselves, physically, emotionally, & spiritually.
