So I have had a shaved head like 10 years and finally decided to let it grow out. I also sprouted a beard. Consequently it’s been 10 years since I’ve been to a Barber. I stopped by Anseth’s Old Towne Barber Shop a few Saturday’s ago to get everything trimmed up and holy crap is this place awesome! Totally reminded me of the Barber Shops I used to go to when I had a full head of hair. Vantz is a riot! The place had a few regulars in there and just imagine every movie made about classic Barber Shop banter and you have it hear. Cars, ex-wives, beer… nothing was off the agenda to chat about. Freaking hilarious place to just sit and listen to conversations. With this said Vantz did a great job of cleaning up my beard and trimming the hair. When I asked him what all the grey hair was on my chest he told me that he just went ahead can cut all the grey hairs out… totally funny guy. Nice straight razor shave on the back of the neck and a neck massage at the end. I was going to shave my head again in December after the event I was growing out for has passed but I’ll be honest, I kind of want to keep it so I can go back to this place on a regular basis. Good Times.

I have been going to this shop for about a year now and have been very pleased with the work done by Vants. The guy is excellent. I can have difficult hair for most barbers but Vants got it right the first time, and every time since then. This guy is a Maestro with clipper and scissors. This is an old school shop with lots of classic memoribillia and the complementary coffee. As you enter you’ll be greeted by «Allie» the incredibely well trained and friendly shop dog. As a word of caution if you’re thinned skin, Vant’s may rub you the wrong way. He’s an older guy who has his opinions and is not afraid to voice them. I personally appreciate that about him. Otherwise, is a friendly and funny guy.

I struck gold in Nipomo! It’s a small shop, but packs a lot of personality. It’s highly stylized and can probably be mistaken as a barbershop museum inside, just check out the pics of the place. You’ll find Mr. Anseth and one other barber inside. Mr. Anseth is the the real deal, a highly skilled barber. I can simply tell by the way he uses clippers and scissors with confidence and pays extra attention to details. There’s way too many poser barbers out there that can tell you everything ’bout the history of Barbery and all the traditional tools and techniques used, but couldn’t pull off a good haircut for a customer. Anyways, make a pit stop here if you live or just passing through the Central Coast for a great cut and a traditional barbershop experience. $ 16 for a cut and laughs, Mr. Anseth has got some funny-ass stories. Thank you Mr. Anseth, love the good boy haircut. I’ll see you next time I’m in town.
