I wish I could say that Joey and I were having a great meal, but this place has gone so far down hill. We should have figured — being a Saturday night– that they only had 6 tables of people at 530– something was very wrong! We went for the ribs(which I’ve had before and they’ve always been«Ok» not great, but it’s the only choice in Nixa), but these were awful(I even feel bad bringing them home for the dogs). They have obviously purchased a lower grade of meat. It was dry, flavorless and full of gristle. Joey got the pulled pork sandwich(which was the same crappy meat). His bun was so hard and old, that we knocked it on the table and it sounded like a hammer! The only thing they seem to be consistent with is, terrible service! Their wait staff is extremely SLOW, rude, and inefficient. This is so unfortunate

Visited on a Thursday night. Not too busy but service was slow and food was really terrible. Two of us ordered bbq plates. Ribs I had were extremely fatty. Burnt ends dinner(for $ 13.99– really?) was about a quarter pound of ends that were no where near burnt, as one would expect. Mostly fat and cooked about the same as ribs. Add to this that two of the sides were cold. Unfortunately those were the only two things we sent back because we were tired and didn’t want to wait for new meals. Overall a very poor experience and won’t be going back.

Food was fair; nothing special. Typical BBQ that’ll you’ll find in the area. Really no different than the rest.

As a four adult party, we split Dave’s Pit Combo. It fed us all comfortably, and we enjoyed the brisket, hot link, and baked beans immensely. The cole slaw wasn’t our favorite as it was too vinegary compared to what we like, but it was solid. The yeast rolls were crisp on the outside and soft inside — delicious! Try the various sauces, and be prepared to eat loads of meat. Not many vegetarian options, but I bet you could make a decent meal of a baked potato and sides.

This used to be one of my favorite BBQ places, and I still enjoy it, but overall it’s gone down hill over the years. Many years ago, they had an amazing sausage link meal. They changed the type of sausage a few years ago and switched to something that isn’t as good. After living away from the area for a few years and moving back, we’ve noticed they appear to have cut back on their portions quite a bit. Their prices aren’t cheap, so you used to be able to take solace in the fact that you were getting large portions and could stretch it into 2 meals pretty easily. But now it seems the prices are the same and the portions have cut back, resulting in it being kind of overpriced for what it is.

While the new location imbues a warm welcome for families and sports watchers alike, the food quality has suffered from the larger quantities they must peddle to the many tables. Jalapeño bottle caps were grossly over fried to the actual consistency of opening a beer bottle with one’s teeth risking a cracked tooth and emergency dental care. Mac & Cheese was fine but wished for a sharper cheddar blast. So many gristles in the beef brisket that the fork shoveled more meat out of my mouth than made it down. BBQ nachos by far the best choice but order the BBQ sauce and sour cream on the side as it was swimming in sauce and the crispy nachos quickly became soggy utensils dropping blotches of beautiful baked beans where they shouldn’t be. Our server was efficient and kind. A while back, I wrote a review for the BBQ place across the street, recommending a trip to Buckingham’s instead. After today’s meal, I’ll be looking for another Barbecue joint in Nixa. But, alas, I don’t think there is one. Guess I’ll have to take home Oscar’s from Price Cutter – at least I know I love their BBQ to my core!
