Small mom/pop place in a strip mall in Noblesville. Had lunch there today. My party and only on other customer were there at 1p. Ordered the California roll lunch special for $ 7.99. It includes a California roll, a fried wonton, ½ an egg roll, house salad and miso soup. I don’t care for miso so I can’t comment on that. I enjoyed the egg roll, my wife did not. She liked the house salad, but I didn’t care for the dressing. Normally I love ginger dressing. As for the sushi. Had a California roll which was«okay». Alia the dynamite and spicy tuna. Not blown away by any of them. I guess if I was in the area and got hit with a sushi craving I may go again. I’d probably choose to drive a bit farther and get good sushi and good service. A bit surprised by all the positive reviews.

Sushi yama yama, Sushi bang bang The ol’ Ball & Chain and I ate here last night. Let me start by saying I don’t east Sushi, but my Boo loves it. This is her favorite place to calm her sushi cravings up north. The exterior is nothing to brag about, and the interior is the same way. She claims the Sushi is great, but prices are sky high. So you better bring a Stack. The bathroom is nothing to write home about. We are talking a single seater with a lock I dont trust… like my ex wife. They do not have Bud Light… So be prepared to drink The Silver Bullet.

Wonderful sushi and the price is just right. I’ve been coming here for years and have always been happy with the food. It’s also never been busy when I’ve come. The owners are very friendly.

The reviews were very helpful. They’re right about it being a hidden Jem! Very mellow and relaxing atmosphere inside. Super friendly staff. Welcome you, and everyone thanks you as you leave. It was super clean and the wait times were less than expected. I watched the sushi chef hand craft my rolls, it was an art! I had the Red Volcano Roll, it was great! The Dinner Roll Combo A is also delicious and such a great deal! Prices were lower than I expected and portions were more– I’d say that’s a win! Lots of chef specialty rolls, more than most sushi places! Prices were between $ 8 – 13 per roll, again less but you get more! I’ll be back!

Excellent and really enjoy eating here. The fish is always fresh and place does not smell of fish which is a great sign . I don’t know why we don’t eat here more often. The best sushi place around noblesville for sure. Staff is always helpful, polite and attentive. Will be back for sure

This is my favorite place for sushi. They have the best tuna roll around. They also have a bulgogi roll that is excellent if raw fish isn’t your thing. They have great miso soup too. It doesn’t look like much on the outside, but this place is a true hidden gem.

Walked in with my wife and our 18 month old. Before she would seat us, she asked if our daughter cries too much or makes noise. We left. Beware not family friendly. Have eaten here before though, nothing special. Over-priced sushi but the only joint in Noblesville so we’d go to avoid a drive. But if you have a family or actually want good sushi, head elsewhere.

Best sushi in Indiana! We’ve been coming here for years and they are always friendly and serve great food. We have never had a problem with the wait. It can take longer if they are busy, but the sushi is so much better than any other place around, I am happy to wait if I must.

My husband discovered this place and we have been regular customers for over 2years. Service is always excellent and sushi is fantastic. Some of our favorite rolls are crunch munch, camp fire, spider roll, and dynamite roll. It is a little pricey which doesn’t keep us away but if it was a little less expensive we would go there more often.

First off, the place did not smell of fish. A good sign that the food is fresh. Sushi was good and fresh but the fish was very thin and the rice was a bit much. I was shocked that I was charged $ 4.98 for a pot of tea! One pot two cups. I’ve never been charged for tea at a sushi place before. I’ll stick to my regular place for now.

Although I wasn’t as enamored with the ambiance as my wife was(I thought it was too dark, and the big screen TV was distracting), the sushi and service were excellent. Moderately priced, neither cheap nor expensive, the sushi was near the top of what I’ve had in the Indianapolis area. For about $ 50, two of us stuffed ourselves with sushi and each had a beer. There aren’t a lot of sushi places this far north, but I’m glad that Sushiyama is around. I just wish they would lighten it up a little bit.

I agree with all of the reviews. Expect a wait. I went at 12pm, and although there were no more than 6 folks eating there it was a 15 minute wait for my take out order. One caveat, if you order take out lunch special, you will not receive the soup, salad or egg roll, with the lunch special. Same price, but no sides. The food was fresh. The restaurant was intimate, quiet and clean. You would miss it because it sits in a strip mall. I ordered the spicy tuna roll and california roll. The tuna is yummy although not really spicy.

Clean, fresh, and delicious. This place is the real deal and they are so friendly. We love the lunch specials that include a cali roll, fried rice, and teriyaki chicken. My husband loves the raw stuff, but my fav’s are the mango roll and crunch munch roll which is all cooked ingredients. The quality and taste surpass the other sushi restaurant in town by far. It’s small and quiet, so we don’t usually take our two toddlers unless it’s just for lunch, but it’s on our rotation for date nights or a quick lunch.

We tried this place right after we moved to noblesville several years ago, literally desperate to find good Asian food/sushi(my wife is Korean). Thankfully, we hit gold! We’ve become such fans that we even befriended the family that owns the place. So rather than writing a biased review, I’ll just let that speak for itself. Sushi is the specialty at Sushiyama, so don’t go solely for the kitchen food. It isn’t too bad, but unless you go on Friday or Saturday(when they have an extra helping hand), it will detract from the service speed a little. The sushi is unique in three ways, in my opinion… it is WAY fresh… the nigiri is sliced thick and hearty, and the chef has his own sauces that are definitely more flavorful(and some items spicy) than typical sushi places in the area. I think that can be attributed to the owners’ Korean origins. If you want some sushi that’s flavorful and skillfully made, give this place a shot. But as stated in other reviews… this is a family-run small business, so if you come during the week at crunch times, you may need to be a little patient with the service.

Compared to other sushi fare in the Indy metro area, this place isn’t special, but compared to others in Noblesville, I suppose it’s good enough, albeit a little pricey. Sushiyama has a pretty standard line-up of sushi – your regular maki and nigiri choices, shashimi, and so forth. They had a few lunch specials to choose from as well. I’ll defer on the service, since I went there on March 11 and the owners(who I assume are Japanese) were a little distracted by the tsunami news from that morning.

For a strip mall location next to a tattoo parlor, Sushiyama is a surprisingly good discovery. The inside is clean, if not cozy. The sushi is very fresh and there are tons of special rolls(almost a little too many … are potato chips really necessary on a roll?). The service is indeed slow, but take-out is popular.

My husband and I went to Sushi Yama to celebrate St. Valentine’s, he had early dinner reservations. It took forever to even get drinks, that should have been our first clue our restaurant choice was a bad idea. We waited for an hour and a half with only drinks and appetizers. We had our 2 year old with us who obviously got really fussy after all that waiting. We had to allow him to walk around for a while, granted he was kind of loud, the waitress asked us to sit him down at which time we decided to wrap our food to go and avoid disturbing other dinners. We were told our food would not be ready for another half an hour and we were free to leave free of charge if we wanted. I appreciate the free of charge part but it felt like we were being thrown out of the restaurant. We love sushi and we’ve been really good patrons of this restaurant since its opening. Now we don’t want to go back, Valentine’s is an understandably busy day but if you are going to be as understaffed as they were they should have closed their restaurant floor and just tend to carry out orders, a lot of those were going out as we waited. Just a really bad experience that could’ve ruined our celebration.

I had no idea that this restaurant existed, until my mom heard from friends of her’s who drive all they way from Geist to eat here. Standing outside of Sushiyama, the completely unimpressive exterior had me giving my mom a look soaked with second doubts. BUT I promise you that opening the door puts you in a whole new world. The restaurant’s interior is superbly decorated with an authentic Sushi Bar in the back if you choose. Owned and operated by a Japanese family, the dishes are a mix of traditional staples and western remixes. The Sushi is phenomenal. I promise. Skeptic I was, but no longer. I try to get into Sushiyama at least every other week and love supporting the family run business. The restaurant keeps a steady stream of takeout orders going but I highly recommend surprising yourself and eating in once! Any specialty roll comes with the customary miso soup and salad if you do choose to stay in. I’ll close it with just repeating what I’ve said. On the outside, you’ll wonder if I’m crazy, but once you step in and give it a chance, I guarantee that you’ll be back on Unilocal!seconding my review. Cheers
