The food is good. The prices are higher than expected but not much. For two, one drank o.j. the other coffee our bill was 24.

We really wanted to like this place as it’s close to our new home. We went on a Saturday morning, and we were happy to see it was super busy… assumed that meant we were about to enjoy some tasty food. Food and service were just ok. Basically huge portions of mediocre food. Bottom line, way too expensive for the quality, taste and dining experience. Bummer… we’ll keep looking for a good brunch option close to home.

Pancakes were pretty good. Prices are fairly high for breakfast food: $ 4 for a slice of bacon and $ 4 for half of a grapefruit, just to give you an idea. Our food came out at all different times, with my husband finishing eating before the kids’ food even arrived(very disappointing). The potatoes are bland and the full order is very small. We were overall disappointed with taste, our waitress forgetting us, timing and pricing.

I want to write a positive review, but this restaurant always underwhelms me. Food is good, but not excellent. Service is always mediocre. I always receive apologies: «Sorry for the wait,» and«Sorry the food is taking so long… there was a large order in front of you.» Once the food was on the table the server never came back to check on us, even though we had an issue with our order and the coffee got cold. Lastly, this restaurant is 1. Overpriced, and 2. Food portions are too big. $ 2.50 for truck stop coffee is ridiculous and no one should pay $ 10 for an omelette. No one actually needs a 3 or 4 egg omelette — it’s just too much. But you certainly are expected to pay for those eggs! I tried to be healthy and ordered the egg white veggie omelette and the thing could have fed four grown adults! And it cost $ 12. Sorry, Original Pancake House, for your prices there are many alternatives for breakfast.

Delicious blueberry pancakes! It was a little busy when we were there, which made our server a little scarce when we needed her but overall a good experience.

I’ve been here many times. Great atmosphere. The orange juice is squeezed fresh daily. There coffee isn’t my favorite but that’s really my only complaint(bottomless cups are nice). Haven’t had any pancake there which I didn’t like. Pumpkin are my favorite. The western omelette with egg whites is my go to and it’s a generous helping. I wouldn’t call this gourmet brunch like Petite Chou or Taste. But for good food at reasonable prices, OPH can’t be beat!

Always a great time! The McDermotts are my favorite people. I’ve gotten the sunrise special for years and don’t think that will change. The apple pancake is another classic — make sure you’ve got friends to share it with though!

This is a great place to grab breakfast! Better than that other pancake house that you see a lot of commercials for. The dining area is very large. The service is always fast and friendly and most importantly the food is always good!

Today, I used my $ 10 birthday gift via their email club. I tried their pecan waffle which embedded pecans. Of course, I also ordered the fresh squeezed, small orange juice. Another great experience with the food, but the wait can be about 20 minutes due to the weekend crowd.

I’ve never had a bad breakfast or brunch here. Even right before they are closing for the day

I usually order the early bird special, but the Western Omlete is also great. The atmosphere is kid, and elder, friendly.

The family and I(two adults, two young girls) ventured out for a post holiday breakfast to TOPH. We had been there a few times before and while it was nothing spectacular, it is pretty reliable. The kids had chocolate chip pancakes, which are good but far too chocolatey for them to eat more than a couple bites– that said most people will probably like them. My wife was smart and kept it simple with eggs, bacon and pancakes– all good. I ordered their meat omelette with sausage and cheddar cheese– the consistency was that of grits with the sausage being really broken down into the smallest size, not chunks or pieces like I had expected. The cheese was concentrated in one spot on the omelette which defeated the purpose also. Normally this isn’t a big deal but unfortunately our usual kind service was missing today as well. Our waitress was apparently not in the mood to work today as she dropped off silverware and napkins at the end of the table and let us distribute, as she did the drinks that followed after that. She reached over my 3 year old to pass me my hot coffee refill rather than walking two steps to my side of the table– passing hot food/beverage over kids, setting hot plates in front of kids is plain stupid and many servers do this often, common sense right? Anyway, Julie’s apathetic service today made the otherwise 3 star experience a 2 star. Not sure we will venture to our neighborhood TOPH anymore– we can enjoy a better $ 46 breakfast somewhere else.

I had the diced ham and eggs and the eggs had clearly been sitting out all morning and the ham was extremely artificial. The chocolate chip pancakes were good but the banana crêpe could only be tolerated by the sweetest sweet tooth… Even for basic comfort food I wasn’t very satisfied.

Good News, The Original Pancake House is a great place to take your kids and family for a good american brunch. It is NOT the place if you’re in the mood for an adult brunch. This didn’t effect my rating, but I just thought I would put that front and center, since this place was not for us. Anyway, very old style architecture on the inside made me feel like I was having a comfortable breakfast at the German/Dutch Midwestern Grandmother I never had. Walking in you’re corralled by queue ropes, which made you feel like you’re about to enjoy breakfast at Country Kitchen Buffet. It was efficient, but it didn’t set the right mood for the place. The service was slow. I know we went on a busy Sunday, but I’m a firm believer that a place should be staffed to accommodate the maximum number of guests rather than the minimum. At least have someone watching coffee mugs, since that is really important to me for Breakfast. Although it became comical that everytime I complained quietly to my wife about the slow coffee service, we got refills preternaturally fast. The coffee was much better than most diners, so that was a plus. The food took a long time, but that was expected. I got the Apple Pancake which felt like a soufflé fell and was filled with Apple Crisp filling. It was dense and eggy, good but not what I was expecting. Also, WAY too big. I was stuffed after 40% of it. My wife’s buttermilk pancakes were OK, but certainly nothing special. TL;DR. Better for families with Kids. Slow service. Good Coffee. Apple«Pancake» is huge but tasty. Pancakes are Meh.

I found it just ok. The service was not great at all. The server was not very friendly. I didn’t find the food that great either. It is alot of food for your money tho. The hash browns were terrible. We didn’t eat them. I had a baked omelette and it was just ok. Light and fluffy but nothing special. I probably will not visit again but it was busy and people seem to like the place. Maybe my incident was isolated?

So I hate to get on this place, as it does have probably some of the best breakfast around. But… It is VERY overpriced! I mean, 2 people for $ 35? For breakfast? Completely unreasonable, as pancakes and sausage shouldn’t be expensive to prepare. The dutch baby was very good, the pancakes were good, the sausage links were EXTREMELY small(and like $ 3), and the corned beef hash(which I love corned beef hash) was not that great. I’m surprised to see it so crowded when I go, but I guess people want good food, no matter the cost. There needs to be some better competition in the breakfast food department… Also, no sweet tea? I thought this was standard now-a-days…

Great place to have brunch It’s so kid friendly! They’re as community focus as you can get. They have all bunch of discounts from service men, to fire fighters, to cops, etc. The place has free wifi and early bird specials. It has a kids menu too and very reasonably priced. There’s plenty of parking which makes it convenient. It gets pack in the weekend so try to get in earlier than usual. Sometimes they have promos and coupons on your local direct mail similar to Valpak and that makes it great for budget-conscious parents.

Great breakfast spot. I meet a friend for breakfast there every couple weeks. The options are endless and the prices are average for the large portion sizes. The only thing to note is the price per person jumps fairly quickly when you add side items that may not be included in the meal you choose.(Example meat, eggs) Overall the service is always exceptional. There have been times where the food takes little long to come out. If you want a breakfast that will fill you up for the day then this is the place!

Food is 4 stars and I should ding them for service but given it was 7AM on a holiday I’ll give them the benefit of the doubt. This ain’t Nashville’s Pancake Pantry but they can compete in some areas. It is a breakfast shop that focuses on the core items and do it well — waffles, omelets, pancakes, breakfast meats. Food — great! Had the early bird breakfast special of 3 pancakes, eggs, and choice of meat. For $ 1.50, you can upgrade the pancakes to anything on the menu which I think is definitely worth exploring and trying. The chocolate chip pancakes had good amount of chips on top and some embedded in the pancake like it was added at the last minute on the grill. Bacon — 2 thick strips that did not shrink or crumble as it got crispy while cooked. Definitely something that puts them ahead of most breakfast places. Orange juice Ripoff — $ 2.70 for a «large» that was served in a glass smaller than the water they bring when the servers come to greet you. At least try to make it look like a deal with a slightly bigger glass. Service — we were 1 of 3 tables and we didn’t get any check-ins from our server while we waited for food or while we ate. It was merely bring water, order, bring food, bring check.

Absotively, posolutely THE Best place for breakfast anywhere in mid north Indiana and maybe the state! The corned beef hash is the freshest tasting hands down best hash that I have ever had. Add in some runny sunny side up eggs and fresh squeezed juice and that is what I call breakfast. My wife leans towards the sweeter side and got the strawberry waffles and loved them. Next up for her is their apple pancake that looks more like an apple pie. This place is just killer!
