I came here for dinner with a large group of friends(a lot of whom are Unilocalers) and it was great! If you would like a very detailed review, check out Daniel B’s review, he is great with the details! My two cents are as follows: I have been eating chinese food for a long time all across the country and I don’t think I have been more satisfied after a huge meal than I was after eating at China Wok! Every dish that came out was excellent! They were even awesome enough to include vegetarian dishes! If I lived closer this would definitely be my go-to Chinese place. You should definitely check out China Wok!!!

Surprising that China Wok has been around since 1986(same location, same owners) yet it has only 6 Unilocal reviews. China Wok is a traditional Cantonese Chinese restaurant located in a worn-out and run-down-looking shopping center on Jimmy Carter Blvd. It’s close to the interstate. They have a lunch buffet and fill a lot of takeout orders, though dinner is their main source of business these days. Thanks to Tulie L. for introducing us to this place. We had a massive dinner for 19 two Sundays ago and it was filling and satisfying. We occupied two large round tables in the back. Needless to say, the lazy Susans were in full effect. We ordered(in order): Chicken wings West Lake beef soup Salt and pepper squid Fried sea bass Steamed flounder Snow pea tips with garlic Beef broccoli Hand-made noodles with chicken and vegetables Sweet and sour pork Coconut jelly I never normally order chicken wings at a Chinese restaurant, but I must say, the wings at China Wok are incredibly good. It was truly a mouth-watering dish. The skin was delectably crispy and the meat inside was tender and juicy. I could go back for more right now. West Lake beef soup was very nice. My dad loves this soup so I had a lot of it growing up. West Lake beef soup is variation of egg drop soup with tiny chunks of beef and scallions. China Wok’s version includes green peas, which is new to me. I usually like to add red vinegar and white pepper to my West Lake soup. Of the entrees, my favorites were the salt and pepper squid and snow pea tips with garlic. Not surprising, since these are some of my favorite Cantonese dishes in general. China Wok did a marvelous job with both of them. A slight twist to the salt and pepper squid dish — it also came with shrimp chips. Snow pea tips were crisp and had plenty of garlic. Both the fried sea bass and steamed flounder came filleted(boneless), which I prefer. I enjoyed both dishes. The sea bass had had a little too much batter for my taste, though. I loved the scallions provided with. The flounder was presented beautifully and the cuts of meat were soft. The hand-made noodles were awesome. Portion size was huge. The noodles were very thick and had a little bit of a chewiness to them. This dish was drenched in sauce and the cuts of chicken were massive. Both the beef broccoli and sweet and sour pork were solid. The sweet and sour pork was quite appetizing, but came when most of us were already stuffed. All of the above food came out to about $ 16 – 17 per person including tax and gratuity. What a deal. The coconut jelly dessert was on the house. These were gelatinous cubes of jelly, cut into small pieces(one piece per person). Smooth and subtlety sweet with tiny chunks of coconut. Overall, the food was fresh and delicious. Now I know a decent stop for Cantonese comfort food.

Food was fresh and delicious. Definitely coming back for the snow pea leaves! Now I don’t have to go all the way to Canton cooks to get them. Can’t wait to try their shellfish dishes. Dungeness crab, lobster and clams :). Their prices are very reasonable. Most of their business is take out, so don’t let the décor fool you. They have been in business for 25yrs!

Truly a hidden gem — I’d seen the restaurant sign many times driving by on Jimmy Carter but never thought to stop by. Thanks to Tulie L and the other reviews, we checked out their food. Yum! We had a party of 5, ordered 6 dishes, and we had plenty of food! I love family-style dining! FRIEDOYSTERS — $ 10.95 These were HUGE as in, you can’t eat the oyster in just 1 bite. Not to miss if you’re a fan of oysters! SALT&PEPPERSEAFOOD — $ 10.95 One of my favorite dishes here — shrimp, scallops, and squid. Very good. FLOUNDER W/MIXED VEGETABLES — $ 14.95 This was my other favorite dish. Fried big chunks of flounder — very good, slightly sweet, and lots of meat. Yum. FRIEDCHICKENWINGS — $ 4.75 The wings don’t have any kind of sauce but they were fried well. One of my friend’s favorite dish. SUBGUM(MIXED) PANFRIEDNOODLES — $ 8.95 Lots of goodies — beef, pork(the best part), chicken, veggies, and homemade rice noodles. The noodles are flat & thicker than I expected. I heard they have customers who come by just to buy the noodles. HOUSESPECIALCHICKEN — $ 9.50 Apparently one of the most popular dishes at the restaurant — chicken is shredded off the bone, very flavorful, and topped w/cilantro & scallions. Definite hole-in-the-wall ambiance in a sketchy looking strip mall — but well worth the visit. FYI — this review is based on a visit from over 2 months ago.

Went for a weekday dinner. Large group. Ordered: –chicken wings: wings are marinated, fried, and crispy –fresh ginger lobsters: lobsters are chopped up and stuffed –House Special Flounder(Filet, fried, sautéed) — ½ Walnut Shrimp: sweet dish –Beef Pan Fried Hoi Fun: they make their own noodles! So soft and chewy, not tough at all! –Seafood Chowmein: proooobably wouldn’t order this again, but that’s only because I prefer turf to surf. –Sautéed Choy Sum(vegetable) –Hong Shui Tofu(Tofu & Vegetable) –Salt and Pepper Squid –House Special Chicken: this is like a chicken with greens… Very tasty. Um… There was so much food I can’t even remember the individual components of each dish. Basically, everything was very good and satisfying. Very large portions! Friendly service.

my thanksgiving started a bit late because i didn’t get my burner nor my oil to fry my turkey for lunch so we all loaded into the car to get some quick grubbing before all that mess started. this was brought up for some quick chinese dim sum and so we went. we were the only people there but it was open so that was important. the buffet bar had about 2 – 3 pieces of food being picked left and right for the entire morning so we asked the owner to make some more, which he did. brownie points… they had steamed chicken with ginger and scallion, which was not bad at all! there’s also some steamed dumplings, beef stew, chow fun noodles, fried rice etc… they only have about 10 – 15 items to select from but i was rather please with it. i’m thinking with the fairly few items had given them the chance to make each one taste better rather than hoarding 20 – 30 items and all would taste like crap! anyways, it’s a very small chinese diner with about 50 seating capacity and a very small buffet aisle. so don’t expect anything too much. the only thing i didn’t really care for was that they jacked up the price for thanksgiving by a whole dollar!
