Why would anyone want to eat there? Worst food ever. Two chile dogs, onion rings and a coke, two bits of the chile dogs and the rest went into the trash!!! Service and the staff were great.

Really good All American Food! You have to get the onion rings. Best ever! Fried Peach Pie, too.

Welcome to the satellite location. Many will tell you that one Varsity is the same as the other, but let’s get this straight. This is the least of the three. Ever since they first opened it years and years ago, they have always been just a bit off. Just enough to notice. The food isn’t good for you at any of The Varsity locations(R.I.P. Lewis Grizzard), that much is clear, but it always tastes better in Atlanta or Athens. REALTALK

So I was craving a good hot dog and my friend recommended this place. I ask for a chili hot dog with fries, but the fries were cold and greasy and the hot dog was the most disgusting thing I put in my mouth. I don’t know what they put in there but it was horrible. I would never go back to place

I can’t do it often, but I loves me a chili dog from time to time… and help… frosted orange. I can’t give you five stars, but I do love your dogs.

Fast Food, Fast. The Varsity is an Atlanta Staple. And Though I wasn’t at the Atlanta location, This location was JUST fine. The service was quick, and I got just what I wanted: 2 chili dogs, Onion rings and a diet cola. They have the opportunity to mix it up, but stick to the standard, you won’t be upset.

First time here. Heard great things about this place and was not disappointed. Food was great and served quickly. Only complaint was service– not friendly at all seemed bothered to have to take our order. Otherwise though great experience

This rating is for the kids… who loved the greasy fries, the dry bland hamburger, and the soft ice cream shake. The onion rings tasted good but were greasy. I recommend the chili slaw dog. I don’t recommend cheese on anything because they just slap a piece of American cheese on everything that comes with cheese without even melting it. Raw onions are giving upon request. Please make sure you brush your teeth afterwards

I had never been to this particular Varsity until recently but did go to the one in Athens repeatedly during grad school. The food is exactly the same and is as you would expect it. I had the chili cheese burgers, which were very good.

I just love this place. I been living in Atlanta most of my life and this place is a must visit for visitors. Great hotdogs and hamburgers. The prices are a bit high but that the only thing that gets me. You can expect to pay about $ 10 for two chilli-dogs a fry drink and cheese burger.

let me start by saying I absolutely LOVE the food from The Varsity. i almost always get a #1 with a sweet tea(2 chili dogs, drink, & fries). for some reason, i was unaware there was a functional Varsity on Jimmy Carter blvd… thought it closed down years ago. so when i was on this side of town, i was ecstatic to see it up & running. now, usually when I order my #1 at The Varsity on Spring St, they always make certain to ask me if i want cheese on it. my whole thing is this… who in the world eats chili dogs without the cheese??? OFCOURSE I WANTTHECHEESE!!! when i got to the one on Jimmy Carter blvd, they didn’t ask if i wanted cheese. i was so excited they had a drive-thru(instead of a drive-up like the one on Spring St) that i forgot to mention the cheese. i didn’t realize the mistake until i was kinda far down the highway.(yeah, i know that part was my fault, but i’m still kinda mad they didn’t even ASK!) …whatever!(the food was still good!)

I can understand the local popularity. Had the chili slaw dog and it was good. I think that’s how they do dogs in West Virginia too. Compared to a place like Portillo’s this was just OK. But worth a stop as insight in to local food tastes.

I’m glad I went for the simple fact it’s a GA staple, but the food was ehhh and the atmosphere was fun. Definitely worth a stop, but don’t expect the best. I love the gimmicky«what’ll ya have?» but I went at a quiet part of dinner, so the energy level wasn’t as high as I expected. Maybe a bustling lunch would’ve been better? But overall, glad I went, but I definitely don’t need to go back, happy to cross that off my ATL bucketlist.

The chili cheese dogs are awesome with the grilled buns. First time eating here. Love the vintage style look.

Giving this place 1 star is not even worth it. Seriously we came when it was pretty empty but the food is nasty and COLD. I order chili dogs with fries and my bf got chili dog with hamburger with onion rings and everything came out cold. We threw most of it away

The varsity is a famous Atlanta restaurant. They’re known for their chili dogs and their iconic phrase«what’ll ya have». Although I’ve only checked in a few times on Unilocal here, I’ve been many times to this location. This is much less crowded than the downtown location but still the same great service and great food. Don’t forget to grab a frosted orange after or with your meal, and their fried pies are good as well.

This Varsity doesn’t give you the feel like the big one downtown Atlanta but when you have the craving and it’s in close proximity, might as well. From the greasy union rings to the bland beef hot dogs, you’ll be satisfied. I live pretty close to here and the place isn’t ever packed on my visits. I think I like the fact that everything is always close together in their boxes and the food is always hot. Plus, I know what I’m in for when I come here. The burgers aren’t the best and their chicken is a tad bit dry, but the food does it’s job and makes you want to work out for the next week to burn the calories.

I know this is a smaller location but this isn’t the typical, «What’ll ya have, let me scream at the top of my lungs.» Varsity that I know. I visited on a Sunday so maybe that could be to blame also. I was greeted by a cashier rather quickly and asked for a couple minutes because I wasn’t ready to order. I know at the original Varsity this is considered unacceptable. When I finally did place my order I advised the cashier I had a question about one of the combos. Instead of allowing me to answer the question and then taking my order, she rang up the combo and of course had to ask for a void. She asked for a subsequent void while I was actually ordering… I ordered a Glorified Burger, Chili Cheese Dog, Onion Ring and Varsity Orange. The Varsity Orange was probably the best thing. The Glorified Burger as others have mentioned had no taste, this is even after being drowned in ketchup and mustard which I usually don’t do. The Onion Rings were super greasy and salty. The Chili dog was good. I’ll probably just stick with the location downtown.

From what I tried, the fries & the chili dog with slaw were the only things even close to worth getting here(but not for what The Varsity charges). The burgers have pretty much no flavor, and the sweet tea was not fresh at all. This place is HUGE, and pretty noisy, with the loud TV’s and kids everywhere. Seems like a lot of people bring kids here, for cheap eats. One can get better food for much less $, at Steak ‘n Shake. The Varsity is not a place I care to come back to.

Instead of writing a whole story about this place… I’m just going to list out some things… 1. Went here on a Sunday afternoon for some hot dogs… as soon as we walked in, I was expecting a lot of hype… What ya’ll have what ya’ll have blah blah… nothing. 2. There were flies everywhere, at least 10 – 15 flies swarming around the tables and chairs 3. Both condiment stations had no forks, spoons to scoop onions onto my dogs. 4. The limpy greasy fries were boring, even with the side of chili and cheese, which I think comes from a can 5. There’s absolutely nothing here that I couldn’t make at home for absolutely nothing as far as price. 6. What’s so great about a slaw dog? Nothing, it’s just a naked dog topped with slaw. It was just boring to me. and lastly… I’m not thrilled about the meat to bun ratio because the hot dogs were skinny as hell. All in all, I was highly disappointed in how dull this place is.
